Chapter 118 – There and Back Again 10

Ffyr flew hesitant towards the purple sphere while Matil held Matthew against her body helping him sit down and watch. The Fey looked at the two behind her looking for approval and encouragement.

"Don't be scared. I used Identify on it. It's safe." Matthew assured her.

Ffyr nodded. Still a bit hesitant, she reached out to the sphere. The moment she touched it, the world seemed to stop a little for her as time itself stopped. A cornucopia of information came on flooding her mind in that time. Everything she needed to know on how to control the Labyrinth.

For Matthew and Matil, it was but a second.

Ffyr sat down on the throne bringing her hands to her head. She breathed heavily. All that information at once made her tired. Not physically, but mentally.

"Are you all right, Ffyr?" Matthew asked.

"I am. Just a bit tired. It's a bit much for me." The Fey said rubbing the sides of her head.

"You should send the Fae back home." Matil said. "There are a lot of others wandering around the Labyrinth. The dungeon makes them create items for the adventurers. Sometimes it makes them guard the items." The Nixie explained.

"Who was controlling the dungeon before?" Matthew asked.

"No one." Ffyr said stretching her back and taking flight again. "It was doing everything on its own. As if it was ordered to do it."

"It was on automatic?" Matthew asked.

Matil and Ffyr both looked at him not understanding the word.

"On its own." Ffyr repeated.

Matthew just nodded. There was much of the human world that Ffyr needed to learn.

"What now?" He asked.

"I'll call for my mother." Ffyr said closing her eyes.

Matthew understood once she brought him to her Oneiros that Ffyr had some level of control of dreams. If she had the system, she'd probably have a level on Somniomancer and the skill Dream Walk.

Ffyr nodded clearly having a conversation in her mind. She then moved her hand and a portal opened in the direction she waved. She had used the Dungeon's power to open it.

From the portal, Titania came out still with her eyes closed. As she stepped through she opened her arms widely and said with a smile:

"Mommy is here!"

No one laughed at that but Titania herself.

"You are no fun." She pouted. "Oh… You got beat up." Titania exclaimed when noticing Matthew on the floor held upward by Matil. "And Matil. I didn't know you ended up here." She acknowledged the Nixie.

"I came by mistake and couldn't leave." Matil explained.

"You? Couldn't leave?" Titania asked confused circling around the throne where Ffyr was sitting.

"It wouldn't be polite." Matil explained herself.

Titania laughed loudly.

"You were always an odd one." She said fixing her hair behind her ears.

"Mom." Ffyr called her attention. "Matt is in pain."

"I know dear. That's what happen when you get hurt." Titania said as if explaining something important to a child.

"Can't you do nothing about it?" Ffyr pouted at her.

"I can. Is that your wish?" Titania smirked.

"No!" Matthew protested on the floor.

"Then tell me your wish." Titania said walking towards Matthew slowly.

"I want Faynn back." Matthew said forcing himself to hold a groan.

Titania smiled and cocked her head to the side. She was about to wave her hand holding in a laughter, but then Ffyr protested:

"Mom! Please! Don't." She said flying towards her. "He's been through much. Don't be mean."

Titania clicked her tongue and moved her head to the side clearly discontent with Ffyr.

"You're no fun honey." She said.

"Mom! Not today. Please. Just resurrect Faynn." Ffyr begged.

"Alright honey. But just because I asked too much of you." Titania agreed and snapped her fingers. "The gods of this realm won't like it, though."

"Since when do you care about them?" Ffyr asked.

Titania laughed and patted Ffyr's hair with a finger.

"You're right honey. And you look so cute in those clothes. I'll have to find some of those for me." The Queen of the Fae said.

"If you want, I can ask my sister to take mommy shopping." Matthew said breathing slowly.

"That's sweet of you. But I can't be here for long. I'm already stepping in too many shoes by coming here." Titania said looking around.

"Is that why you needed us to conquer the dungeon for you?" Matthew asked.

"Yes, dear. The gods of your world are bunch of nincompoops. They have no sense of humor. It's always about rules and protecting the mortals." Titania satirized the gods. "Specially that big one." She scoffed.

"Who?" Matthew asked.

"No matter honey." Titania dismissed Matthew. "The thing is that I can't move between the prime and the Fae freely without them making a fuss. So I needed Ffyr to use the dungeon so I could come here."

"Why?" Matthew asked.

"To take this dungeon for myself." She laughed grabbing the purple sphere.

Ffyr suddenly fell a couple of inches, but didn't hit the ground when Titania took the orb.

"Oh. Sorry honey. Should've warned you I'd be taking it for myself." The Queen of the Fae said.

Then she pressed the orb on her hand making it shrink to the size of a marble that she promptly swallowed. Then she winked at Matthew and said with a sultry tone:

"Don't fall in love with me, dear."

"Why are you taking the dungeon for yourself?" Matil asked with a worried face.

"This damn thing was taking my people to entertain the primes. No more. Now, I'll be using this dungeon to entertain us!" Titania chuckled. "Won't it be so fun? And don't worry dear." She turned to Matthew. "I'll still make it give you adventurers trinkets and the like. But now, I'll be one making the rules." She smiled wickedly.

Titania then sat on the throne and crossed her legs.

"Your elf must be waking by now. You sure you want that? Don't you want to get rid of the stain on your eye instead? It will only grow bigger if you keep using it like you are." Titania warned Matthew.

"It will grow?" Matthew asked.

"It already is honey." She said smiling at him. "Sure you don't prefer to get rid of it?"

"I am. Faynn is more important." Matthew said rubbing his left eye. She was right, the numb part of his face was bigger than he remembered.

"Mom. Can you heal him?" Ffyr asked. "He can't even walk right now." She added.

"I can honey. But you know this is not how I do things." Titania answered putting her elbow on the arm rest and holding her head with her hand.

"Then… What do you want?" Ffyr asked looking her mother on the face with a resolute face.

Titania smiled. A deal. That's how the Fae did things. Those were the only rules they obeyed. Rules they set for themselves.

"I want…" Titania thought to herself. "Asking his firstborn is too cliché isn't it?" She made a moment of silence thinking to herself. "Give me those gold wings on his pocket. Can't let you leave with the keys, can I? It would ruin the fun. I'll also be taking back your ability to navigate through the Labyrinth." Titania made her mind.

Matthew thought just for a second and then threw the wings at Titania. Before the wings could hit the floor in front of the Queen, they stopped mid air and hovered towards her.

"Good boy." Titania said sarcastically.

She then created a gold goblet in her hand and spit inside of it.

"Here. Drink this. It will make you good as new." She explained.

Ffyr took the goblet and flew it to Matthew.

Matthew looked inside the cup and frowned seeing the spit in there. He looked at Ffyr who encouraged him to drink it.

"Don't leave a single drop." Titania said chuckling.

Matthew drank it fighting against the urge to gag. But as soon as he put the goblet down, he was in no more pain, his ear was whole again and he could move. He only had the scar on his belly to remind him of how close he was of dying.

He got up thanking Matil for her help and for saving his life. She hugged him back tightly thanking him for freeing her. Then Nixie then ran inside the portal that was still open beside the throne saying goodbye to him and Ffyr.

"About that stain of your, Matty." Titania said getting up from the throne. "You should be quick to get rid of it." Her voice lacked her usual playfulness. He could feel her warning was legitimate and coming out of concern. "It will only grow bigger and faster from now on. With time you'll turn into a demon. Either find a merciful god to help you or come to me when you're ready to sacrifice something you love." She said ominously while walking back to the Fae realm through the portal.

As soon as she crossed the portal, the dungeon turned into pure mana. Matthew has seen that before in the Castle of Novak. He blinked and saw himself and Ffyr outside the dungeon in the complex the Tower of Ryvylin had around the entrance. By his side were a bunch of groups of adventurers all looking dumbfounded.

"What happened?" Someone asked out loud.
