The head of the Ironfang family snapped his head toward the source of the voice.
Grey stood leaning against the wall, arms crossed, quietly observing everything.
He trembled when he saw him. Only now did they realise something terrifying.
He had been there the entire time. And none of them noticed!
Liebert also saw him and immediately erupted.
"You... you bastard! You High Order traitor! I know you are the one behind all of this!"
Grey's eyelid twitched aggressively when he heard him. For a split second, it looked like he might smash Liebert into the nearest wall.
But he held himself back. He wanted to let Lia speak first.
"You say I am your daughter?" Lia said coldly. She faced Liebert with calm certainty. "We both know that is not true. My mother was never pregnant with your child."
Liebert's expression twisted violently.
"You... what are you saying." Liebert looked stunned.
"You know very well what I am talking about." Lia said coldly.
Grey snapped his fingers lazily and a secret realm portal unfolded around Liebert and Lia. Whatever came next was definitely not something the public should hear.
The moment they were thrown inside, the realm sealed itself. The family head stared around in confusion while Grey walked in unhurriedly as he opened another one.
"Where is this place?" Liebert looked around in panic. "What is the meaning of this?"
"This is my secret realm." Grey said casually. "And we would rather not let ordinary people hear the truth about Lia's birth."
Lia had given him clues before and Grey already believed her logic. Gods were not beings born through biological means. They existed beyond the concepts of time and space after all.
"You bastard. Let me out of here right now." Liebert shouted, directing all his anger toward Grey. In his mind, Grey was the source of every problem.
"What, me? Point at me again and I will break your bones." Grey said casually as the realm's power descended.
Liebert's face drained of color. It felt like the world itself was pressing down on him.
"Grey..." Lia shook her head lightly.
He shrugged and stayed silent. He still planned to beat this man senseless. After all, how could he take over Nova City without challenging the city lord?
The pressure finally broke Liebert's resistance. He swallowed hard and looked between them with trembling eyes.
"Your mother and I... we never had intercourse." he said quietly. "When she suddenly became pregnant, I was furious and thought she had cheated, but she never left the mansion. There was no way for her to do so."
He took a shaking breath.
"She told me that one night she went outside to see the bright lights in the sky. Something like a flash of lightning fell from above. Then she suddenly fainted and when she woke up, she was pregnant with you."
The memory seemed dragged from a deep sealed corner of his mind. Without Lia's prompting, he would have never remembered it.
"I was right." Lia said indifferently. "That means you and I have no blood relation. I am not your daughter."
"How can that be? How can you not be my daughter?" Liebert's voice cracked. "I watched you grow up. I fed you and raised you. How can we not be related?"
"You also forced me to do things I hated." Lia replied coldly. "You still live in the delusion that the Duskwood family are good people."
Divine energy surged from her and she tapped a finger to Liebert's forehead.
Memories poured into his mind like a tidal wave. Every truth she had endured. Every betrayal. Every pain.
And on the side, someone was casually learning the ability.
[Your comprehension defies the heavens. By observing Visionary Transfer, you have comprehended the skill Thousand Mile Visionary Transfer.]
'Thousand miles?' Grey's eyes flickered. The upgraded version allowed memory transmission across his entire mind sense range.
It was not much of a use for him right now, but it will definitely have it's use in the future.
Liebert's expression worsened with every memory he absorbed.
"No... how can this be..." His voice trembled as shock and despair pulled him apart.
"The people you trusted were plotting behind your back and you still tried to force me to marry into their family." Lia said calmly. "Even when I rejected you again and again, you ignored me. What kind of father treats his daughter like a bargaining chip?"
Her voice did not shake. She had already moved beyond him.
"You dare talk back to your father?" Liebert shouted, face twisting with desperation. "I spent so much money on you."
He did not even realize that his own words exposed everything. To him, Lia was not a daughter. She was an investment.
"That is enough." Grey flicked his fingers and Liebert's mouth clamped shut.
The next words he planned to say were not things a father should say anyway.
"Our relation ends here." Lia said coldly. "Starting today, you no longer have a daughter."
Liebert froze. Whether it was anger or sorrow in his eyes, even he did not know.
"I will go to Crimson City and arrange a meeting with the city lord." Lia said, not even glancing at Liebert anymore. She no longer wanted to say anything.
"Alright." Grey snapped his fingers and the portal swallowed her.
The moment she left, Liebert erupted.
"You. This is your fault. You ruined everything."
"Is that so?" Grey tilted his head and smiled coldly. "If it is all my fault, then what exactly are you going to do about it?"
Psionic energy surged like a tsunami. The secret realm trembled as Liebert's legs buckled and he collapsed to his knees.
"Now that Lia is gone, I can speak freely." Grey stretched lazily. "First of all, you are an annoying dog who only knows how to bark. No wonder the Duskwood family fooled you so easily. And second..."
He snapped his fingers.
They were back in the real world, standing exactly where they entered earlier.
"Liebert Nova." Grey said calmly. "You are unfit to rule this city. As the city lord of a second rate province, I challenge you to a battle."
