Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 211: Tri City Province acquired Visiting Richard

"What?" Liebert froze. "What did you just say?"

He had a terrified expression on his face. He was being challenged. How could he win against someone like Grey? He too had seen the videos, and he knew how terrifying Grey's powers were.

A sense of powerlessness assaulted him.

First it was his daughter, who had stopped listening to him completely, and now his authority was also being threatened.

How can a man handle so much?

'Eterna do your thing.' Grey muttered in his mind.

He knew damn well that Liebert would not readily accept handing over the city lord position. Hence, he would use the two incidents of failing to protect the city, even now, to act against him.

Immediately, Eterna's voice rang out from Liebert's phone. "Due to your inability to protect the citizens and the land, your merits have gone below the threshold. The challenge invitation from Grey Lockhart has automatically been accepted." The following moment, what appeared in Liebert's vision was a powerful fist coming toward him.

Bang.

With one punch, he fell down.

"..." The Ironfang family's head stared at this scene with a dumbfounded expression.

Grey merely glanced at him before turning to leave.

As he began walking, the announcement started playing across the entire city.

[System Announcement: A city authority update has been triggered. Processing verification… complete.]

[Former City Lord Liebert will now step down.]

[Result: With Liebert Nova's inability to protect the citizens and lacking ability to contend against strong evolvers, all evolver qualifications and administrative authority tied to his identity are permanently void. All associated privileges are revoked.]

[In accordance with Provincial Regulation 7.1, Grey Lockhart, a certified second rank evolver and second rank citizen, has met every prerequisite for succession.]

[Effective immediately, Grey Lockhart is officially appointed as the City Lord of Nova City. Nova City will now be integrated into the Ascension Province. All administrative departments, evolver squads, enforcement units, territorial registries, and city systems are to update operational protocols and acknowledge the new authority holder. Compliance is mandatory.]

[The Ascension Province Local Network is now available for use.]

The citizens across Nova City all wore dumbfounded expressions on their faces.

"What the hell...?"

Didn't this guy just arrive a few minutes ago?

How did he already take over the city?

Too powerful.

Didn't this basically mean he had five cities under him now?

How old was he? The Nova City citizens knew clearly. He grew up here after all.

He was only seventeen years old. Some people Grey's age swallowed heavily. This guy was the legendary neighbor's kid that their moms kept praising!

"Hey... that was our classmate... right?"

Inside the Nova 5 group chat, the classmates that Grey once sat and learned with almost two months ago were gathered together. They were too stunned to speak.

Sophia, who still worked at the Golden Chamber, heard the announcement and was simply silent. She remembered the scene from two months ago when she mocked Grey.

She was still an average employee, and he had already become a city lord. The difference was as big as the endless skies above and the earth.

....

...Ring. Ring.

Grey's mind interface rang as he looked around the city from the air casually. It was a call from Werner.

"Master, we're here."

As soon as he said that, two lights flashed from up above and appeared beside Grey.

"Greetings, City Lord Grey." The first to greet him was a rather old looking man with an experienced look on his face.

Right next to him was Werner.

"You must be the City Lord of Blue Spirit City?" Grey glanced at him. He gave off a powerful presence.

He was at the sixth stage of second rank, just one step away from reaching late stage, and Grey could already sense law reforging power from him.

"Mister Werner has already filled me in on the details." The city lord spoke. "And I accept transferring the city lordship to you."

"Hm?" Grey was pleasantly surprised.

This guy actually accepted this easily.

"You do not need to think too much, City Lord Grey." He shook his head.

"This old bone of mine has been working nonstop for countless years for Blue Spirit City."

"There is no one left in the city that I could call family."

"I was managing the city only because if I left, no one else would be capable enough to take over. There is no one at the second rank of citizenship there or here."

"My time is running short. I want to free myself from the city and travel. Having a change of pace might be what I need to reach late stage of the second rank."

He added those words sincerely, and Grey could easily tell. Hence, the city lord transferred his ownership to Grey. Soon, the announcement from before appeared.

Because Nova City was now connected to the Ascension Province, they also received the announcement.

"???"

Everyone sucked in a cold breath hearing the announcement.

That was the sixth city!

Is he going to conquer the entire southern region today? They no longer knew how to react anymore.

Then, a call came from Lia.

"Grey. The guy did not listen to me." Lia had a blank look on her face as she turned the camera to a person bathed in blood with a swollen face like a pig. "So I beat him up."

"Oh..." Grey's lips twitched.

Was it just him, or had Lia become more ruthless than before?

How could she have the heart to beat someone up to the point they looked like a slaughtered pig? Was she taking her anger against Liebert out on that poor guy?

"Wait there. I'll come to Crimson City."

Grey told Werner to stay put and swiftly left, shooting off toward Crimson City. Within minutes, he crossed the distance and landed in front of the city lord of Crimson City, who looked one inch away from dying.

"Help..." he called out weakly.

"..." Grey glanced at Lia speechlessly.

She stood there with a slightly embarrassed look. It was true she went overboard, but she had been enraged after her conversation with Liebert. After beating him up, her emotions had lessened a lot.

She would no longer meet with Liebert. She and he would go separate paths starting now. She had Grey and Little Hong who cared for her more than her own father did.

So, what was there to fear?

"Hey. If you transfer me the city lordship, I will heal you." Grey said with a benevolent smile as he crouched down.

"N... never." The Crimson City's city lord said weakly.

"Oh." Grey nodded.

"Looks like you need more beating."

Grey snapped his fingers and the secret realm portal appeared. Out of it, the Infernals stepped out.

Grey casually checked the guy's records, and they were honestly very black. Since that was the case, there was no need for hesitation.

Bang. Boom. Whoosh. Bang.

Several minutes later.

"Stop!" The Crimson city lord screamed with a terrified look on his face.

For the past minute, he had been constantly kicked and punched by the demon looking beings and fed healing potions to recover only to be beaten again.

What the hell did he do to deserve this?

"If you do not transfer the ownership, this will continue until I run out of healing potions, and I have plenty." Grey grinned.

"Do not make things worse. Hand over the city lordship, and I will let you leave in peace."

Although he was garbage who committed crimes behind everyone's back, he was not the worst.

But how else was Grey going to take the city lordship from him? Asking nicely did not work.

Grey definitely was not going to give this guy any privileges or money!

If he had to take things by force, then he would do so without hesitation.

It was for a greater purpose, and things like this would happen more often.

"I... I will transfer the ownership!" The city lord finally yielded.

"Perfect." Grey clapped his hands.

'Eterna, you heard him.' he said in his head.

Within minutes, the last announcement rang out.

The Tri Province was now completely his.

"That is seven cities." Lia said with a slightly bewildered look on her face.

Was it really that easy?

How come others did not do what Grey did?

But it made sense.

He was a powerhouse no one in the southern region could probably stop. What was a city lord in front of his power?

"Alright." Grey glanced at Lia.

"You go meet up with Werner and make preparations. Have him contact the law enforcers of the Ascension Province in the north and have them send men here."

"And you can take your time around the city if you want. I am going to visit my father."
