"Is everything prepared, Werner?" Grey stood in the sky with Valeria beside him.
Werner flew over. "It's done, Master Grey. The Formation Association has placed more formation flags near the agricultural fields."
"But Master Grey, is it really right for us to do this?" Werner rubbed his goatee with a calm expression. "Won't this cause work issues?"
"I already thought of that." Grey smiled lightly. "There won't be any issues in that matter. The farmers can switch working sectors if they want to, anything at all."
"In the end, everyone is here for labor pay, and automating the herb growth process can massively cut costs." He continued. "Them changing sectors wouldn't make a difference either, and in the long run, when we no longer need to manage cosmic fields or acquire new ones, we will profit from this."
"As expected of you." Werner sighed. "You really thought it through."
"Valeria, I'll leave this matter to you." Grey glanced sideways at the woman beside him.
Valeria froze for a heartbeat, then placed a hand over her chest, looking genuinely wounded. "So cold." She sighed softly, her eyes glistening as if wronged.
"Am I really just a tool you order around?" she continued. "Big sister's heart can't take this, you know."
She leaned slightly closer, lips curling into a playful smile. "If I'm working this hard, shouldn't I at least get a reward?"
"Rewards?" Grey smiled when he heard this. "What would you like, Miss Valeria? You've been working hard for the city."
What she said wasn't wrong. She had been doing everything he instructed without complaint, and that was because Valeria deeply cared about him and considered him close. What kind of friend would he be if he didn't listen to her wishes?
Hearing this, a wide smile bloomed on Valeria's face. "Then…"
She stepped closer and wrapped her arms around Grey's arm, leaning in without the slightest restraint. Smiling sweetly, she looked up at him and spoke.
"How about you accompany me shopping for a day?"
"Shopping?" Grey's expression stiffened instantly.
If there was one thing Grey dreaded the most, it was shopping, especially with women.
It was nothing short of a traumatizing experience. In his previous life, he had gone shopping with his female friends from college, and every single time, he would be dragged from store to store.
He would be asked for opinions he didn't understand and bombarded with endless questions. After trying nearly a hundred outfits, they would finally leave one shop, only to enter the next.
Worse still, he couldn't even glance at his phone. The moment he did, they would start accusing him of not paying attention.
"…Fine." Grey let out a long sigh and spread his hands helplessly. "It's a deal, Miss Valeria. I'll take you around Ashspire City for an entire day."
"But only after I reach the first level of the second rank." He added.
His first priority right now was getting the transformation technique to work and reaching that level.
Reaching the first level would directly cause his power to soar to new heights, and only then would he feel a sense of security.
"Deal." Valeria nodded firmly.
Then she let go of Grey.
He was about to begin the formation work, and she had no intention of disturbing him.
Soon, Grey moved.
Standing before the city barrier, his focus sharpened as streams of energy flowed from his fingertips. The patterns he inscribed were identical to those of the Circle Root Array within the secret realm.
Before attempting this, he had deliberately spent time in the herb fields, observing the array at work and comprehending its logic at the source. Once he understood its structure, replicating it was no longer difficult.
Lines of light spread across the barrier, forming a complete cycle.
Moments later, the last inscription settled into place, and the formation stabilized.
Grey lowered his hand. The array was complete.
"Alright, it's done." Grey glanced at Valeria and Werner.
"You know what needs to be done next."
"I'll manage it." Valeria giggled. "Besides, I have the assistance of Eterna."
Grey nodded.
...
Grey flew back to the City Lord Mansion after everything was done. The rest would be handled by Valeria, and by now, the clone should have already finished transforming as well.
As soon as he entered, he saw the director of the Culinary Arts School of Ashspire City teaching Lia. She was a woman in her thirties, and after greeting them, he entered the room.
"To think the City Lord is your husband." The director sighed. "You are really lucky to marry such a young man, Miss Lia."
"W What are you saying?" Lia was embarrassed. "W We are not married. We're just friends."
Hearing this, the director looked at Lia strangely and spoke. "Aiya, whatever. Come, I'll teach you how to make essence infused steak."
...
Back in the room, the Grey Clone sat cross-legged on the bed, completely immersed in cultivation. From the fluctuations around him, it was clear that the transformation had already concluded, and he was now stabilizing his breakthrough.
Seeing this, Grey immediately stepped forward and sat opposite him. His eyes sharpened as he activated Genetic Insight.
In an instant, a torrent of information surged into his mind.
[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing a Primordial Human, you have gained insight into the structural engineering of the Primordial Human body.]
The Primordial Human transformation itself was incomplete, but the structural changes it produced were already fully manifested. For Grey, that was more than enough.
He focused entirely on those changes. Every adjustment in bone density, every alteration in muscle fiber alignment, and every subtle rewrite within the genetic framework was laid bare before his perception.
Time passed unnoticed.
Several hours later, Grey slowly opened his eyes. The comprehension was complete.
He had grasped the structural engineering of the Primordial Human body.
"Now, time for the Mystic Human Transformation technique." Grey took out the written Mystic Human Transformation technique.
This technique, while standing out from others, was even less useful to Grey.
"Because what the hell is a multicasting trait and no chant spell casting?" Grey was dumbfounded.
Isn't this basically magic?
Was there a magic evolutionary path in the starry sky?
