Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 268: Immortal Spells

The immortals possessed an absurd number of unique spells.

Fire Seal.

Water Seal.

Wind Seal.

Lightning Seal.

Earth Seal.

There were also rarer variants, shadow seal, metal seal, ice seal, poison seal, storm seal, and many more. At their core, they were simply combinations and refinements of the original elemental seals, but once layered with laws and intent, they became terrifyingly effective.

And those were merely the base forms. Each seal had countless variants branching from it.

For example, the Fire Release used by Albert, or the Earthly Disintegration spell once displayed by City Lord Brown.

Grey, in particular, was fond of Earthly Disintegration. The way it collapsed matter from within, bypassing surface defenses, made it exceptionally lethal.

Unfortunately, due to the urgency of conquering the southern region, he hadn't stayed long enough to observe it properly.

He should ask City Lord Brown to use it again later. Just once would be enough.

Setting that aside, what Grey truly lacked right now was regeneration.

Some form of healing technique or spell.

Either he awakened esper abilities related to regeneration, or he comprehended Wood-based spells.

Wood spells, in particular, were infamous. They excelled at binding, suppression, and healing. In prolonged battles or large-scale conflicts, their value was immeasurable.

Grey had even heard rumors.

Several hundred years ago, a 3rd-rank evolver had grown a colossal tree forged from the Law of Rejuvenation itself.

Using an immortal spell, they had healed thousands of wounded beings in a single act.

Just imagining that made Grey's eyes light up.

How great would it be if he obtained something like that?

But healing techniques were rare. First-rank versions were everywhere, practically worthless. Second-rank healing spells were already considered treasures.

As for third-rank healing techniques? You could forget about it. They simply didn't exist on the open market.

But then—Grey paused.

Why should he care about the southern region's limitations? He already knew someone who was practically a walking library of techniques. Someone who just so happened to be an immortal cultivator.

Xia Qingyue!

She had everything.

Grey's decision was immediate. After this, before doing anything else, he would make a round trip to Whitespring City. He would extract powerful healing spells from her, and while he was at it, obtain the soul-search skill as well.

Perfect.

Grey coughed lightly. Only then did he realize he had fallen into another inner monologue.

Again.

It happened often, but now really wasn't the time. The stream was focused on him, visibly confused. From the viewers' perspective, he had simply been standing there in silence, doing absolutely nothing.

Below, movement caught his attention. The High Order.

They were shifting positions, their forces aligning with unnatural precision.

A formation.

But did it matter?

Of course not.

"You pitiful creatures," Grey said with a grin. "Since you've chosen to forsake your humanity, there's no need for mercy."

Halfway through his sentence, his voice glitched.

Nexus Overclock!

It surged into full motion. Circuit-like patterns exploded across his humanoid body, intertwining with his flesh as if they were part of him from the very beginning. His perception expanded violently, his consciousness tearing through distance and obstruction alike.

In mere seconds, his mind enveloped every deserted city in the surrounding area.

If he wished, it would take only a single thought. One thought—and the land would flatten.

Cities would be pressed into the earth, structures reduced to dust, and every living being within range crushed into nothingness by overwhelming telekinetic force.

But where was the fun in that?

Wouldn't using Heaven Opening Sword Line be far more exciting?

Grey felt like a child who had just gotten his hands on a new toy.

A dangerous one. And he wanted to play with it properly.

With circumstances aligning so perfectly, what was there to hesitate about?

Whrrmm!

The nexus energy within his two elixir fields stirred violently. It condensed, refined, and transformed, shedding its original form as it became pure sword energy. In seconds, it erupted outward from Grey's body.

Sword energy flooded the world, filling every corner his perception touched. Skies, ruins, streets, air—everything became a medium for the sword.

His power was perfectly balanced. His energy range matched his perception exactly. There was nowhere to hide.

The High Order members froze. Their expressions changed the instant they felt it.

Then Grey spoke.

"Heaven Opening Sword Line."

The instant the words left his mouth, sword intent erupted. The air across the entire region twisted violently as if something invisible had been forced through it. Space itself trembled under the pressure, and the atmosphere let out a shrill scream as sword energy flooded every corner Grey's perception reached.

There was no warning.

No buildup.

The sword energy struck.

Boom!

The first deserted city was hit head-on. Buildings exploded apart as if struck by an invisible hammer, walls collapsing inward while streets were torn open from end to end. Defensive formations set up by the High Order shattered instantly, runes blinking out one after another before they could even activate.

Boom! Boom!

More impacts followed in rapid succession. Entire districts were crushed, the ground caving in as sword energy drilled straight through the land. High Order members caught within the range were thrown apart violently, bodies ripped open by the overwhelming force before they could even react.

Screams echoed briefly. Then they were drowned out by destruction.

Mountains in the distance cracked and collapsed, their peaks blown apart as shockwaves rolled outward. The sky darkened as debris was flung upward, only to be pulverized midair by lingering sword energy.

The formation the High Order had deployed was erased completely.

Within moments, everything within the range of the technique was reduced to ruins and craters. The ground was torn apart, towns flattened, and no living presence remained standing.

Only after the sword energy dissipated did the sound fully return. A delayed, thunderous roar swept across the region as collapsing structures, broken terrain, and falling debris finally caught up with reality.

Grey stood in the air, his body returning normal as Nexus Overclock slowed. The circuit-like patterns across his body faded gradually, leaving only faint traces behind.

He glanced at the devastated land below.

"Not bad."
