Nexus Ascension: My Comprehension Defies the Heaven

Chapter 316: Law crystals of entropy

"What is this?" Grey tilted his head, pleasantly surprised.

Lin Fang, on the other hand, stared at the contents with a completely dumbfounded expression, his gaze locked onto the box as if his brain had momentarily stopped functioning.

There were many items inside the final box, but one object stood out above all others. It had two perfectly round spheres at the base and a long, thick root rising proudly from the center, dominating the space within the container. There was no doubt about it.

"Is that… a dildo?!" Lin Fang blurted out in disbelief, his voice cracking halfway through the sentence.

Dark lines immediately appeared on Grey's face. Now that he looked at it more carefully, from this angle, it really did resemble one far too much for comfort.

"…Is this the Abyssal Mistress's personal toy?" Lin Fang muttered, his worldview visibly crumbling as the words left his mouth. "Why would she leave something like this behind?"

Silence fell for a brief moment, thick and awkward, before the system finally spoke and shattered it.

[That's a foundation key.]

"A what?" Lin Fang asked reflexively, still staring at the object as if it might suddenly move on its own.

"A foundation key." It was Grey who answered this time, his expression already turning serious. He had activated his appraisal skill the moment the system spoke.

The information layer instantly returned a complete set of data, clear and unmistakable.

[Foundation Key: Restores foundational imbalance of the soul and subtly strengthens one's foundation.]

Grey's eyes heated up the moment he finished reading. Foundation key. Foundational imbalance.

There was nothing more that needed to be said. This thing was valuable as hell.

There were many ways to repair one's foundation, but none of them were clean. The most brutal method involved sacrificing thousands of people or a few powerful evolvers and forcibly absorbing their power.

Compared to that, this item was nothing short of priceless.

"It's mine." Grey shot Lin Fang a glance before calmly placing the foundation key into his spatial ring, his movements decisive and final.

"...I didn't want it anyway," Lin Fang said, though his lips twitched in a way that completely betrayed him.

"Even if you wanted it, I wouldn't have given it to you."

"..."

[...]

"Oh?" Grey's gaze shifted as he noticed another compartment. "Look what we have here. Law crystals."

He grabbed one and tossed it to Lin Fang, the crystal spinning slightly in the air before being caught.

"Law crystals? They actually had something like this?" Lin Fang asked in surprise, examining it closely.

"Law crystals containing the Law of Entropy." Grey's eyes immediately lit up the moment he said it.

Previously, when he had fought those two third-rankers, he had already gained a fair amount of enlightenment regarding the Law of Disorder. That experience had left a deep impression on him.

In truth, to wield the Law of Entropy, one still needed comprehension of the law itself. Even though the abyssal flames were racial traits tied to the body, they were still connected to the fundamental law governing the Abyss.

'Is there only one governing force in the Abyss?''Or are abyssal beings simply too arrogant to rely on ordinary laws like fire?'

[Your comprehension defies the heavens! By observing a law crystal containing the Law of Entropy, you have gained insight into it.]

"Hm." Grey nodded slowly, the flow of understanding settling within him. "From the looks of it, these all came from the same person."

Judging by the depth of the law, they most likely belonged to the Abyssal Mistress herself, someone who had comprehended the Law of Entropy to Major Succession.

"If they had come from different people, I might've broken through on the spot." Grey shook his head slightly. "What a pity."

"Still, this is good enough. It should last me for a while."

Grey then handed the remaining law crystals to Lin Fang. He only needed one, since additional crystals from the same source would not provide further benefit.

"You're a half abyssal being. Your affinity should be even higher than mine." Grey glanced at him. "Do you really plan on staying stuck at second rank, first level?"

"The fate holder has already awakened a ridiculously overpowered physique."

"He's going to start changing the world soon. You can't afford to lag behind."

Lin Fang swiftly caught the law crystals and stored them in his spatial ring, his expression turning serious.

"Evan awakened a super OP physique?"

"Yeah. Pretty strong." Grey shrugged lightly. "But that's expected. He's the protagonist. It was bound to happen sooner or later."

"You, on the other hand, have a villain system." Grey smiled faintly. "Do you plan on staying behind the scenes forever like an extra?"

"You need to catch up too."

"...If someone hadn't decided to punch holes in the river of fate," Lin Fang sighed heavily, rubbing his temples. "I would've been progressing just fine."

"Big Brother Grey, can you please sit quietly in your mansion for a few months?" he added helplessly. "Let me climb the ladder properly and upgrade my system along the way."

"No." Grey answered without hesitation. "There isn't enough time."

"Not enough time?" Lin Fang tilted his head.

"Yep." Grey then briefly explained everything related to the planet and the ice wall, his tone calm but heavy.

He hadn't told anyone else. But Lin Fang was different.

He had a golden finger and was also from Earth. As a fellow otherworlder, he deserved to know the truth.

"You mean there are continents beyond the ice wall?" Lin Fang asked, completely stunned.

"That's right." Grey nodded. "This planet isn't flat. We're just in a region where everything appears that way."

"There's a larger world out there. At least five times bigger than the continent we're on."

"So this planet is basically a supersized Earth?"

"You could say that."

Grey suddenly turned his attention inward.

"Hey, scrap metal system." He narrowed his eyes slightly. "Did you know about this?"

As a construct of the Dao of Machinery, it should have been able to perceive beyond the barrier.

[Who are you calling scrap-metal?!]

[Do you think I wouldn't dare to hit you? Come at me, you bastard! This system isn't afraid of throwing hands!]

"You don't have hands." Grey burst into laughter.

[...]

[Mind you, I am the greatest system among all golden fingers!] the system fumed.

[I have guided countless hosts to supremacy. You have no idea on who you are dealing with!]

"Yeah, yeah. Don't care." Grey waved his hand dismissively, his expression bored."Answer the question. Do you know or not?"

[I mean yeah i guess? I knew about it.]

"...You knew?" Lin Fang froze, then exploded. "Then why didn't you tell me?!"

[You never asked, Host.]

[Besides, what were you going to do with that information?]

[You can't even get the system to level 2, with your incompetence, you will only bring yourself more trouble by knowing about that.]
