Dark lines formed on Lin Fang's face.
"Hey, you didn't have to say it like that!"
Then, he thought for a moment and added while pointing at the system with an enraged look.
"Besides, we all know who is more incompetent. You are a bum ass system that calls itself the construct of the Dao of Machinery, which I don't know what it is properly, but that's besides the point. It sounds grand, and you keep calling yourself that over and over, and yet you still can't calculate probabilities properly!"
"If you were in a competition of being useless, you would be the final boss of it!"
Grey, on the side, was looking at the two couples bickering with each other in amusement.
Lin Fang crashing out might be one of the funniest things he had seen aside from the bald-headed donkey dying from his attack a few hours ago.
"Take a room, you two. Tsk, tsk. Always bickering like couples."
[Yeah, that's it. I'm putting your name on my hit list!!] The system fumed upon hearing this.
[What couple? I'm not gay!!]
"I'm not gay either, Big Bro Grey." Lin Fang said speechlessly.
He also wanted to act like the system and start cursing Grey for what he just said, but on the other hand, wouldn't he bitch slap him to death if he said anything?
So he just held it in and smiled bitterly.
"What hit list? You are all talk and can't do anything useful. Lin Fang was right." Grey said with a disappointed look on his face.
"You deserve to be called the scrap metal system."
"By the time you actually manage to gain free will and go after the people on your hit list, I will be overlooking all of creation." Grey said while arrogantly flicking his long hair back.
"..."
[...]
"Okay, I was joking." Grey coughed lightly, to think both of them would go silent.
"Anyways, now that everything else is done, we should head out. I still need to observe the ice wall. If everything goes well, we might be able to go on a field trip to the other side of the world." Grey said with a smile.
"What will you looking at the ice wall do, Big Bro Grey?"
"Isn't it said that not even fourth-rankers can break the ice wall?"
"I'm built different." Grey flicked his hair back once again.
"..."
[...]
Silence fell in the room. Grey awkwardly reminded himself to not ever attempt this type of shenanigans again, and they all quietly left the vault since everything had been cleared away.
On the way, they just so happened to find the main control room of the High Order. There, a huge amount of monitors were placed, and each showed a different side of the secret realm. If Grey wasn't wrong, this was where the main files and everything related to the High Order should be kept.
Without hesitation, he began rampaging through the database.
There were, of course, a lot of encryptions.
But in the end, who was he?
Grey held in the urge to flick his hair back and silently decoded each and every encryption.
"Hm, eliminating a Federation member..."
"Destroying cities archive."
"The live catalyst experiment."
"The Law of Machinery."
"Conquering the Southern Region plan."
"There sure is a lot of data in here." Grey rummaged through each and every one of them.
He didn't stop until he found an interesting one.
"Oh, look what we have here."
"What did you find, Big Bro Grey?" Hearing this, Lin Fang inquired.
He glanced at him and then snapped his fingers. Immediately, the monitors on the walls showing different angles of the secret realm flickered, and they began showing what appeared to be a report.
Its title was,
[Journey to the Other Side - Icewall Edition]
"Well, whoever documented this, they have a good sense of naming things." Grey clicked his tongue in wonder.
They probably died under him, though, so that was a pity.
Who told them to join the High Order?
They should've just waited for him to be born and then waited for him to spread his evolutionary path. That way, they would never have had to resort to the High Order.
But of course, if they had no significant talent in evolution at all, then joining the High Order might just be a better idea, because to this date, Grey still hadn't made progress on the part where he encounters random bottlenecks, nor did he understand the mysteries behind it.
Well, that was beside the point.
He swiftly cut down his thoughts and began reading through the reports.
[Day 1 - This marks the first day of the experiment. There was absolutely no new progress in understanding the ice wall.]
[Remarks: Abyssal Mistress tried to break a part of the ice, but it broke her bones instead.]
[Day 2 - No new progress was made today either.]
[Remarks: The Abyssal Mistress tried to fly over the walls, only for her to end up in the same place where she began.]
[The phenomenon cannot be understood properly, but from her words, it's related to the spatial nodes.]
[It's most likely that the ice wall is alive or something and repeatedly puts you back, never letting you go beyond it.]
[Day 3 - The Abyssal Mistress got enraged and went to the Eastern Region to steal data from the other branch.]
[This research is a mandatory research every branch receives by the Grand Priest Leon, and if one branch doesn't provide enough research data, they will have to face punishment.]
[Side note: Life sure is hard. The Abyssal Mistress came back after getting beaten up. It seems like the branch leader there, who is also an abyssal being, had a wife, and she beat the Abyssal Mistress up.]
[Day 4 - We finally found something unusual. There is a special energy around the ice wall. This type of energy was something that had never been seen before or shown in the records of the abyss.]
