Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 171: The Lamia Queen(1)

The moment my blood hit the ground, the lamias erupted in a frenzy. Their eyes turned slitted as sharp fangs protruded from their mouths. They all stared at me greedily as if they wanted to plunge their fangs into my neck at any moment.

"Asia brought me here for your queen. She told me how much your queen loved high-quality blood," I explained.

The lamia opened his mouth in shock.

"But this… this blessed quality blood."

"Do you still want to deny us entrance?"

The lamia gulped hard as he stared at the drop of blood on the floor. It wasn't just him; they all were staring greedily at the blood, and I could hear the sound of more lamia approaching in the distance. After a while, he finally spoke.

"Take them to the queen!" he shouted, and immediately we were carried off.

There were several sections of Little Eden that resembled a snake den. Meaning they all slept in groups separated by gender. I'm guessing this is only until their mating season. I picked up on these small details by observing their settlement as we were carried off. The labyrinth in which they lived was such that it looked easy to get lost, even with my senses.

I can't say that their lifestyle was the most efficient, but it seemed to work for them and it was better than most. We were watched from the sidelines by lamias who looked as if they wanted to jump at me and devour me at any second.

It was understandable. Most hadn't smelled this high-quality blood in their lifetime. Soon a crowd was formed.

"Get back!"

The ones escorting us with spears shouted and threatened to kill anyone that approached us.

"Seems you caused quite an uproar," Khalissi chuckled.

Sylvie stood in front of me protectively, baring her fangs at any lamia who dared to get close. She seemed overly protective of me ever since that incident at the inn. I think I might've given her more of a scare than I thought when I disappeared.

"Sylvie won't let them hurt you, Lee."

"Don't worry, Sylvie, I'll be fine. If anything, I can handle these lamias."

She shook her head stubbornly.

"Sylvie will protect Lee."

"She went feral while you were gone, even though we tried to explain that you were still alive," Kumo said.

"She almost went on a rampage in Purgatory looking for you. We had to restrain her," Selthia sigh. "Darling, you shouldn't forget that before you and Sylvie met, she was a heartless killer who murdered countless werewolves. If anything happens, she could go feral and cause a bloodbath."

Selthia was right. I have forgotten what Sylvie was like before we met. The moon princess. To me, she's my impossibly cute fated mate, but to others, she's a killing machine that could go feral at any moment.

I reached out my hand and began petting Sylvie behind the ear, and just like that, she lost her aggressiveness. She purred softly and leaned into my touch. Her tail, which was upright, was now dancing softly behind her.

"It might be a good idea to teach us how to do that in case anything happens," Khalissi suggested.

"That's not a good idea. She'll probably bite off your hand before you get close," I responded.

"Fair enough."

Soon we arrived at a more spacious section of the labyrinth. This section was enveloped in a carnivorous bloodlust. The air smelled of blood, and there were bones lying about. None of them looked like lamia bones.

I couldn't even come to guess the amount of creatures they've fed to their queen. Feeling a subtle chill crawl up our spines, we continued on until we finally arrived at the queen lamia's den.

My jaws dropped when I finally caught sight of the lamia queen. What caught me off guard was her imposing size. She was a giant. If I had to guess, she was more than 20 feet long. She was situated on top an altar, curled up as she slept.

Her scales were the color of jade crystals with shimmering patterns. While her human half was of a beautiful woman with long black hair. On top her head was a crown that seemed to be fashioned from gold. Looking at her, I felt as if I was staring at a divine being. Something I had no business looking at in the first place.

The moment we stood in front of her, Asia and all the other lamias that carried us here bowed their heads in servitude to their queen.

"My queen," he hummed softly, and immediately the queen's eyes slowly opened, revealing beautiful light green pupils. Her eyes were slitted, and when you stared into them, you got the feeling you were dealing with a predator.

Her serpentine tongue softly flickered out of her mouth, tasting the air, before lifting up her head.

"We've brought a gift here for you," the male lamia continued.

"A gift?"

Her voice was regal, exactly like a queen's. Her eyes darted towards us, but she didn't seem much interested before turning her attention back to the male lamia. She must've thought it was her usual midday snack.

"Yes, my queen," the lamia spoke with a proud smile on his face as if he had acquired gold itself. "We have finally found it, my queen. The person you were looking for. The person with blessed quality blood!"

The lamia queen who moments ago looked as if she was going back to sleep suddenly sprang up with a loud hiss. Her eyes widened, glinting like a predator's.

"Show me where they are, and if you're lying…" her voice rang cold in the air with the threat of what would happen if he was lying.

One of the lamias standing around us shoved me forward so their queen could get a look at the person she wanted. Her eyes scanned me up and down before her enormous body stood upright.

Her snake half slithered towards me and began wrapping itself around me.

"Lee!"

"It's fine, Sylvie."

The queen proceeded to lift me up and brought me closer to her maw.
