Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 180: Eyes of Deception

The world around me began to spin to the point where I could barely keep my balance.

"Are you okay? You look as if you're about to fall over," Aphrodite asked.

"Yes, I'm fine; using that ability took a lot out of me."

The eyes of deception.

That was the special organ imparted onto me after I gained the Ghoul King bloodline. It allows me to alter other people's perception, but only if I could get inside their head. I knew that Allucard was worried about his wife, and that's how I was able to create the image of me murdering his wife and him killing me over and over again.

Pity he didn't know that his wife was also deceiving him. His wife was actually the witch of lust and also the witch of greed's sister. It seemed the witches were plotting to take down Allucard before I came along. They were terrified of how powerful he would become in the coming years, so they planned to deceive him and kill him.

That was the secret the witch of greed told me when she brought me to her mansion.

Those witches and their plots, they were one terrifying bunch, that's for sure. I'll have to be careful of them and their schemes. Even this witch standing beside me was one of the 4 queen witches who ruled the city. I should be careful of her.

"You! Get away from her!" Allucard squirmed and thrashed around on the floor.

Even though he was in agonizing pain, he was still trying to protect his so-called wife.

'What has this witch done to him to garner such love?'

"My darling Allucard, what have they done to you to get you in such a pathetic state?" Aphrodite asked, trying to fake a caring voice.

But beneath her fake smile, I could tell she was really enjoying it. One look at her and I could tell that she was the one responsible for the servants that were turned into half-dog, half-human beasts at the witch of greed's mansion. I even saw some of them wearing chains and collars. Some even had wounds that could only be caused by a whip.

She must have a really sadistic personality. The type of person who gets pleasure from inflicting suffering onto others. Even now, there was a slight blush on her face as she watched Allucard suffer beneath her.

"Did they hurt my pookie bear? How sad."

She continued to toy with Allucard while he was suffering on the ground. Playing innocent and caring even though she was the one using her magic on him to cause his headache.

Blood poured from Allucard's eyes and ears as he continued to wail on the ground. It was as if the witch was melting his brain from the inside with her magic.

It was a bi disturbing to think that someone actually holds that power.

"We should get this over with; we don't have much time left," I said, interrupting her teasing.

"Hmm… do you mean because of the clan head? You're right; he's supposed to return today," she said, giving my statement some thought.

"Elena! What happened to our child?" Allucard shouted in desperation.

He just realized that his wife was no longer pregnant.

The moment she heard that question, a conniving smile appeared on her face.

"Oh, our child to be," she chuckled, holding her flat stomach. "What were you going to name her again? Angela, such a sweet name…"

It looked as if this witch wouldn't be done torturing him anytime soon. In the meantime, I decided to go do something else.

"Just keep him under your magic until I return," I ordered before leaving the room.

The girls were downstairs waiting for me and I could hear them bickering. I told them beforehand not to come after me if I disappeared.

"Lee!"

"Darling!"

The girls shouted and ran towards me the moment I came downstairs. They wrapped their arms around me and embraced me in a hug.

"The three of you did really well in our battle against Allucard." I praised.

"Do we get a reward?" Selthia asked.

"Hmm? I thought I already gave you guys rewards."

"We get one reward for agreeing to help and another for actually helping; that's how it works, darling," Kumo explained matter-of-factly.

"That's right, Lee," Sylvie agreed too, bobbing her head.

"I see. I guess I have no choice then. I'll give you a reward once we get back to the inn. For now, I want to go save Isabella."

"Yes, we should," Kaguya quickly agreed. "She is being held downstairs in the cellar. I would've gone for her, but… After everything, I don't think it's right for me to be the first one she sees."

I rested my hand on the top of the maid's head to comfort her.

"Don't worry. I think she would be happy to see her mother after so long."

A small smile tugged on her lips.

"Thank you, Master Liam."

"Master?"

"Yes, I have decided that from this day, I would like to be your servant. I will aid you in any way possible."

My servant? What did she think she was? I turned her, so it is not like she had a choice anyway, but I guess it's good she has decided to serve me willingly.

"I'll take you to where my daughter is," Kaguya said before leading the way. Kaguya led me outside to where the entrance to the cellar was. The moment we stepped outside, we were greeted by a sight that left us starstruck.

"What is all this?"

The vampires we left outside were all petrified like stone statues.

"This must've been that demon's doing," Selthia mumbled.

I agreed with her. No one but Khalissi could be responsible for something like this. I left her and Yuki out here to take care of the rest of the vampires and in case the clan head returns a bit too early.

Kaguya opened a latch and brought us down a winding staircase towards the cellar. I could feel Isabella's presence and hear her heartbeat, though low it was. Soon we entered where she was. The moment I saw her, I felt this inexplicable sense of rage for the condition she was in.

"Darling, your eyes are glowing."

"Just let him be."

Allucard needed to die ten times over for this. What I had in store for him wasn't nearly enough. He hasn't felt suffering yet, but soon he will.

For now, I put away my anger and approached Isabella. She was tied to a chair covered in her own dried blood. Her face was so pale and her eyes were so lifeless that she was looking at us but didn't seem to notice our presence. Or maybe she thought her mind was playing tricks on her.

I approached her and took her face in my palm. Her eyes widened when she felt my touch. Her thin frail lips quivered softly and a single tear rolled down her face.

"Liam."
