Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 198: Auction(2)

Everyone stared at Damian Dracule as if a mythical creature had just landed in front of them. The whole atmosphere of the auction changed in an instant. Damian, on the other hand, seemed unaffected by everyone's gazes.

He was surrounded by vampires who had lifeless faces as they led him to an empty seat.

"He really is an enigma," I whispered out loud.

Usually, after meeting someone, I could tell a few things about them, but Damian… I watched him move, and I could only wonder what was going through that head of his.

"He's more of the silent type," Charlotte whispered. "In all the centuries I've known him, I don't think I've ever heard him speak."

This guy, he's peculiar even among a city of supernatural creatures.

"Ahem, Anyway," the announcer continued. "Let's get on with our first item of the day."

Immediately as he spoke, the curtain behind him lifted, and a female faun entered with goat legs and horns protruding from her head. She was holding a giant fan made of banana leaves.

"This item here is the famous Bashōsen."

The lamia queen visibly perked up when she saw the fan. She had a small smile on her face.

"Is that item important?" I asked when I saw her reaction.

"The reason I love coming to these auctions is because I love seeing rare mythical items. When it comes to learning legends and myths, I guess you can call me an expert." Charlotte chuckled while Selthia leaned into my shoulder.

"I didn't know that about you."

Who would've thought the mighty lamia queen was actually a huge nerd for myths.

"That fan," she continued, "is also called the leaf of pure Yin. It is said to have grown on the back of a famed mountain during the primordial times when heaven and earth were first dividing."

I raised an eyebrow at her explanation.

"Is that really true?"

"To be honest, I'm not sure. A lot of the items here have myths that contradict each other, but whether it's true or not, the power of the Bashōsen is certainly true. A single wave of the fan creates a powerful gust of wind. Two waves create a cloud, and three waves strong rain able to cause flooding."

It was a strange power indeed, but I couldn't see a use for it.

"The price for such a powerful item is 6 vial vials of noble quality blood," the announcer continued.

Six vials for that thing?!

That sounds rather expensive. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a fake item created by witches to mimic the real thing.

Immediately as the announcer spoke, bids started to roll in. I kept my eyes on Damian, watching if he would make any move. So far, he didn't seem interested in the item being displayed. Soon, another item was rolled out; it was being displayed by the same faun.

This time, before the announcer even announced the item, I saw quite a few reactions. The vampires in the room stared with blood-red eyes at the item the faun was holding.

Seeing this, a cheeky smile rose on the announcer's face before he began with his announcement.

"Our next item is an item I know a lot of you are waiting for. Here we have a one-of-a-kind specimen, the immortal leech!"

The vampires' bloodlust went wild the moment he spoke. I glanced to my side to see the lamia queen practically drooling, her eyes slitted and glowing like a predator.

"Just what is that thing?" I asked. I couldn't understand how a leech could drive a room full of vampires crazy.

"That's the immortal leech," she explained through her bloodlust. "It's a supernatural species of leech that has gained immortality, but what makes them special is that they have been said to have fed on the blood of gods.

Obviously, I'm not sure if that is true or not, but there are occasions where these leeches have drunk the blood of very powerful or ancient supernatural races.

The chances of this being the case are drastically low, but if that is truly the case and you consume this leech, then your ability can increase drastically, or you find the most delicious-tasting blood that ever graced your tongue."

So they were basically gambling on whether these leeches held the blood of a powerful supernatural creature or not.

"The starting price for this hot item is 10 vials of noble quality blood."

And the price got even more outrageous, but it didn't matter; the vampires, including Charlotte, were basically fighting over each other to obtain this item. The only bloodsucker who didn't have any reaction was, of course, Damian.

He only watched with a face I couldn't quite read. In the end, the one who bid the highest was the head of the Salvatore clan, paying a whopping 150 vials of noble quality blood.

I couldn't help but shake my head thinking about the way they reacted, though it was to be expected for vampires.

In short order, the next item was brought out to be displayed.

"The next item, and probably one of our most expensive items on the list, the golden fleece!"

My eyes widened when I heard that name. This time, even I was familiar with the story of the golden fleece. A beautiful golden winged ram that was sacrificed to the god Zeus. The fleece was given to a king, Aeëtes, while the ram itself became the constellation, Aries.

The golden fleece is said to hold magical healing abilities.

"The starting bid for such an item is 25 vials of noble blood."

"I bid 25 vials," it was the representative of the Sun clan that cast the first bid.

"50 vials," another voice rose to counter.

"I bid 75 vials."

"A hundred vials."

"I bid 150!"

The price of the vials continued to rise exponentially with every bid that was offered. The representative of the Sun clan seemed unwilling to back down, no matter what he had to pay.

Given the healing properties that this fleece is said to hold, I didn't have to guess why he wanted it. He was probably more desperate than anyone here.

This might just be the perfect opportunity. While the price for the fleece was climbing to a price of 500 vials, I slowly raised my hand to offer a bid of my own.

"1 vial of blessed quality blood."
