Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 200: Boss and a Loyal Knight

The announcer pressed the VIP card against my palm.

"I don't know how or why you have blessed quality blood, but this is certainly going to stir an uproar," he chuckled. "It looks as if we have another big player in the city. Feel free to contact me if you ever need anything."

"I'll keep that in mind."

Since there were other people in line waiting to collect the items they bid for, after we collected the golden fleece, Selthia and I left.

"So, what will we do now? Will we go home?"

"Hmm… We'll see how the night progresses."

Hearing my answer, she smiled at me and rested her head against my shoulder as we walked. As we walked, I got the feeling that we were being watched. I could sense them, and I knew exactly who it was.

For now, I didn't intend to act. I wanted to see what they would do.

Selthia stared at me, and suddenly her lips curled up into a smile.

"We are being followed, aren't we? I may not be able to read these types of situations, but I can read you perfectly, darling."

Selthia chuckled.

"Yes, but you really should be more careful."

"I don't have to be careful when I'm with you. I know you'll protect me. So what will we do?"

"For now, let's not do anything. We'll continue on as if we're oblivious."

Selthia did as I instructed, and the two of us walked until we exited the auction house. The figure followed behind us, making their way closer and closer until I sensed their presence disappear for a few seconds, then reappear at the alley just ahead of us.

From their movements, it seemed they were planning to ambush us. Still, Selthia and I continued on until we were at the alleyway, and it was then that the figure struck.

There was a secret room just above the auction room where one could watch what was going on from above.

In that room sat a woman wearing a red dress that clung tightly to her mature figure. She had long blonde hair that cupped around her curves and red-colored irises.

She had an amused smile on her face as she gazed down on the now empty rows of seats.

Her modest chest rose and fell with every deep gasp she took. She had a wild look in her eyes as her face was flushed red.

The reason for this state she was in was because of the man she was looking at earlier.

Of course, this man was none other than Damian Dracule.

Going through her mind was several wild fantasies of her and Damian fighting.

She could only imagine it—going up against someone as powerful as him—and that thought caused her body to heat up with excitement.

"Damian Dracule…" she moaned.

"What an anomaly you are… even if you shred me to pieces, I still want to know what it's like going up against someone like you. At least then I would die happy."

This woman loved fighting with a burning passion. She wanted to be dominated in combat to the point where she felt true despair.

It was for that reason she got married to a powerful man. But that man turned out to be a very boring man.

The kind of man that would rather spend his day reading rather than train. In her eyes, no matter the hard work he's done, he was still a lazy man.

Knock Knock

Suddenly, a loud knock came on the door to the room. She was forced to put her fantasies aside and catch her breath.

"Come in…"

Immediately as she spoke, a figure stepped in. It was the Kappa—the one who did the announcement.

He had a wide smile on his face as he looked at the woman.

"I take it you were enjoying yourself, boss," he grinned.

"It's always a pleasure seeing Damian in person."

"Yes, but boss, did you see the other guy? We could have a real big spender if we play our cards right."

"Ah, you mean the one with blessed quality blood. Did you give him our card?"

"Yes, boss," the Kappa quickly nodded.

"Then there is nothing else to do. By now, word must be getting out about him. It will cause an uproar, but I don't care much for politics."

The Kappa nodded along. He knew she wouldn't have cared much. All she cared about was fighting someone powerful.

He couldn't help but smile and shake his head as he stared at the beauty before him.

"Anyway, I'll have the report of tonight's earnings later. I need to get back so those idiot ghouls don't mess up anything. Working with that gang is always such a headache," he chuckled.

"I'll see you later, Mrs. Veylmont…"

The moment he spoke, her eyes turned sharp, and a cold sweat trickled down his forehead.

"I mean boss, haha, see you later."

He quickly shook his head and left the room before he incurred more of her wrath.

As he left and closed the door behind him, Carmine Veylmont only sighed and shook her head.

"That idiot," she snickered before leaning back in her chair, and once again, the image of him came to mind.

"Damian…"

….

Just as I expected, a shadowy figure stepped in front of Selthia and me, blocking our path.

Selthia acted instantly, ready to attack, but I stopped her. I didn't sense any hostility coming from them.

The person blocking our path was the one sent as representative of the Sun clan. It didn't take much to figure out that he was here for the Golden Fleece in hopes that it might cure his leader's illness.

He was a vampire. I could tell that much from his red glowing eyes, but there was something strange about him.

"I mean you no harm."

He raised his hands as if signaling his surrender. He approached us still with his hands raised, and when he was right in front of us, he fell to his knees.

He bowed until his forehead was touching the ground.

"Huh? Should we kill him?" Selthia whispered to me.

For a moment, I was speechless.

A vampire bowing to me without me having to do anything to make them submit.

It was strange to say the least.

"I beg of you. Allow me to use the Golden Fleece to save my master."

"You mean the leader of the Sun clan?" I asked.

"Yes, our house is in shambles. The Veylmont clan has stripped us of our title. We have nothing. Our only sliver of hope is helping our leader regain his strength."

"Tsk! Bowing like a dog, your leader would be ashamed of you. You're too much of a coward to fight for what you want," Selthia snapped when she saw the man practically crying on the ground. She had a look of disgust on her face.

"I'm desperate! Bowing like this is nothing."

"You're so pathetic, darling, we should kill him. He's a disgrace."

"Calm down, Selthia. This man is just trying to save his leader. He's showing his loyalty right now," I said.

"Loyalty, but he's bowing on the ground?"

"Wouldn't you bow if it meant saving my life?"

"Yes, of course I would, but…" In the face of such a question, she couldn't refute.

She was clearly biased towards me. If I was the one bowing, she would've seen it as honorable or dignified, but to others she was a bit harsh and stern.

I approached the vampire bowing on the ground and raised him up by his shoulder.

"You could've abandoned your leader when he got weak, but instead you stayed by his side and tried your best to help him recover. Such loyalty needs to be rewarded."

"The only reward I seek is the good health of my leader. For that, I would gladly give my life."

His words caused a smile to appear on my face. This man was clearly an old vampire that adhered to the old customs of loyalty. Almost like a knight.

Such people in this day and age were a rare sight.

"What is your name?" I asked him.

"It's Duncan, sir."

"Alright, Duncan. Because of the loyalty you showed, I will allow you to use my Golden Fleece to heal your leader."

"You… would really do that?"

"But only if you allow me to come with you."

"Yes, of course. I'll gladly allow you to come, sir…"

"Liam. And this beauty here is Selthia."

"Darling, you shouldn't have told him," Selthia quickly refuted with a disgruntled look. "I don't like other men speaking with me too casually."

"Alright, then I shall call you madam," Duncan smiled.

"Hmph!"

Selthia said nothing, only folded her arms and averted her gaze.

"Alright, then I'll show you to where the estate is," Duncan said, and so we followed behind him.

While we walked, Selthia still had a frown on her face. I could tell that something was bothering her.

"What is it?"

"Darling, if I'm ever in danger, I wouldn't want you to lower yourself to save me. I would be heartbroken if you had to face such an embarrassment just for my sake. I don't think I could live with it."

[A/N: @Belin3_0, Thank you for the gift :) It meant a lot!"
