Werewolf Leveling: Building the Strongest Pack in the Apocalypse

Chapter 220: Secret Meeting(1)

While Liam was out at the event held by the kitsune, Khalissi was out on her own little rendezvous.

Her beautiful white hair danced in the wind as she wiped the blood from her cheek.

Earlier, she had caught the lustful gazes of a few men who followed her into the alleyway. An action they soon regretted.

She made short work of them and grinned their bodies to dust with her magic.

Ever since they've been without mana crystals, the people of this city have slowly started to revert back to their true nature.

The city had become a haven for crime and all sorts of illegal activities, especially at night.

Thinking about this, she couldn't help but crack a smile. Things were getting interesting. She could barely contain her excitement, and before she knew it, a small blush crept up on her face.

"What lewd thoughts are going through that mind of yours, demon?"

Suddenly, a voice echoed through the alleyway. Khalissi turned her head in the direction of the voice to see a beautiful woman calmly walking towards her.

This woman had luscious red hair. Her wide hips swayed with every movement.

Her lips, colored in red lipstick, curved upwards into a teasing smile as she stared at Khalissi with sharp eyes that discerned every movement.

The clicking sound of her heels echoed in the damp alleyway as she walked.

Khalissi watched this woman with a strange gleam in her eyes, and soon her lips also curved into a satisfied smile.

"Aphrodite," she chirped. "The witch of lust,is that what they call you now?"

"A fitting title, isn't it?" Aphrodite asked as she came to a stop in front of Khalissi.

Khalissi's smile never wavered, and she continued to stare Aphrodite in the eyes.

Staring at Aphrodite, she couldn't help but chuckle at how funny this all seemed to her.

"Who would've thought I'd ever find you here, Aphrodite? I remember looking up to you when I was young. You were one of my favorites out of Lucifer's many wives."

"That was so long ago, I hardly remember. I can't say I remember you either."

"Why would you? I was of no importance back then. Just a naive girl that wished to be taken in."

"Now, you serve that little boy."

Khalissi raised an eyebrow; for some reason, she felt offended, not for her sake but for someone else.

"What little boy?" She asked, her tone dropping all pretenses.

Seeing this, Aphrodite's smile grew even more mocking.

"That wolf I mean. He is a little boy, an immature pup that thinks he can take on the world. Don't tell me you actually let yourself be lured into his foolishness."

At this point, Khalissi couldn't help but feel annoyed.

"You were once highly respected in the demon realm. Every girl wanted to be like you, and every man wanted you. You were one of Lucifer's most devoted wives, but now here you are. He tossed you aside not long after he married Lilith, and poor little you had to run for your life. You're in no position to look down on anyone," Khalissi said, her disdain in her voice.

Hearing her past shame being dug up, Aphrodite's blood began to boil. But of course, that was only on the inside; her outside appearance was still calm and collected.

'Who does this bitch think she is?'

"Unlike you, I don't serve anyone. Instead, I am one of those who rule this city," Aphrodite said proudly. As far as she cared, the past was the past and it wasn't worth remembering.

"Your son is also here. He was among the archangels first sent to this world. They say he is the most handsome of all of Lucifer's children. No doubt he inherited your beauty."

"Enough," Aphrodite said, waving her hand with disinterest. "You're trying to see if I still care about Lucifer or my son. I'll save you the time—I do not care about neither. Lucifer betrayed me, and I never cared about my son. That is why I didn't bother to take him with me when I left."

"Or maybe it's because you knew Lucifer would hunt you down if you did. By yourself, you weren't of much interest to him."

Khalissi stared deeply into Aphrodite's eyes, but she couldn't discern whether she was lying or not. Still, finding out whether Aphrodite cared for her son or not wasn't the reason why she came here, so she decided to lay the matter to rest.

"Anyway, as to the reason I called you here…"

"You want to discuss that demon that is on its way here," Aphrodite said confidently.

Khalissi couldn't help but feel surprised. Even she had just begun to sense the demon's approach back when she was at the Sky Island.

"Why didn't you tell your wolf? Are you afraid that he'll be devoured?" Aphrodite mocked.

"He has enough to worry about already, fighting against this city."

"So you wish that we fight his battles for him. Are you his mother?"

"This demon coming here will affect more than just him. It will affect you too. If the demon catches you, it will surely bring you back to Lucifer. That is why I'm suggesting a temporary truce. The two of us can work together to defeat the demon."

Aphrodite couldn't help but chuckle and shake her head.

"You would seriously risk your life to protect that wolf. We both know that the moment that demon steps foot into this city, it will be under assault. Unless they sent an archdemon, whatever demon it is can't hope to survive. Your only reason for doing this is protecting that wolf."

Indeed, Aphrodite had hit the nail on the head. Khalissi was worried this demon might stifle Liam's growth. That he won't be able to handle any more danger coming his way, so she wanted to deal with this demon discreetly and quietly.

But Aphrodite had clearly seen through this ploy. She looked at Khalissi, feeling a bit disappointed.

Never had she thought that one of Lucifer's demons would betray him, and all for what?

While for Khalissi, this woman was once her idol. When they were younger, both her and Lilith aspired to be like the great Aphrodite. The charming fifth wife of their demon king, now here she was, rotting away, in a city no better than the lowest levels of hel.

"Let me give you some friendly advice: kill that wolf and retake your place by Lucifer's side. You know what happens to those who betray the demon king, don't you?"

With those words, Aphrodite turned on her heels, no longer interested in continuing this conversation.

"Whatever you decide, you'll have to live with it, remember that."

Khalissi watched Aphrodite's figure disappearing from the alleyway. She couldn't help but feel helpless, along with this uneasiness settling in her chest.
