Traveler of the River of Time and Space

Chapter 26: Mechanical Atomist Pantheon 2

A small portion of household robots from the Old World era would be converted into combat robots.

"They probably haven't discovered the underground base," Pasha turned her head and whispered, "Alice is the intelligent computer brought back from the Southern Cross, she's in charge of managing the underground part of Polaris."

A heavy iron gate opened.

Then, a slightly cold and youthful female electronic voice came through: "Welcome back, Miss Pasha."

Artificial intelligence.

Su Ziyu had a moment where he wanted the Space-Time Monitor System to devour this artificial intelligence, but considering it was a core asset of Polaris, he naturally couldn't do so. After settling the little girls, Su Ziyu was definitely planning to go trouble the Academy, as they should have similar artificial intelligence over there, and by devouring one or two, perhaps the Space-Time Monitor System could enhance its computational ability a bit.

A hidden elevator opened.

After Pasha and Su Ziyu entered, the elevator descended straight to a hundred meters underground, immediately revealing a somewhat spacious laboratory.

The most conspicuous was naturally a rather large computer.

Su Ziyu swept his gaze across and saw a mound of gold and jewels piled in the far corner, directly on the edge. On the central shelves were various firearms, directly opposite were three somewhat distinct pieces of Exoskeleton Power Armor, and on the adjacent shelf were over twenty Nuclear Fusion Batteries. Some peculiar little gadgets were also piled in the corner, looking somewhat like a high-end junkyard, while next door was an empty lab with some dusty experimental equipment.

"I originally planned to continue the Southern Cross' research projects here," Pasha said, looking slightly embarrassed as Su Ziyu looked quizzically at the pile of gold and jewels. Actually, she had collected and piled them there out of boredom, they were already layered with dust. She whispered, "Later, due to the scarcity of talented researchers."

"This place was directly abandoned, becoming a secret base for storing resources."

The entire underground base was quite large.

Pasha probably once dreamed of doing something big, but reality delivered a rather heavy blow. After the collapse of humanity's educational system, they couldn't recruit any talent at all. Ordinary people were already busy enough with daily survival, those with some education were absorbed by the Financial Tycoons' Influence and Academy organizations, so excellent researchers hardly ever drifted to such gathering places.

This laboratory was thus abandoned.

"The thing you mentioned that day," Pasha looked at Su Ziyu, opened a hidden door in a concealed corner, performed a retinal scan, and said after opening it, "I still have some here."

Click.

A hidden door was opened, displaying a radiation symbol.

Su Ziyu quickly saw some familiar little items. Neatly arranged in this hidden safe were three Nuclear Warheads, consisting of two "Little Fat Man" micro nuclear bombs and one "Big Fat Man" micro nuclear bomb.

This should be the true core asset of Polaris.

In such a large gathering place, if they didn't have a few micro nuclear bombs to hold their ground, it certainly wouldn't be easy to develop.

Half an hour later.

The two people emerged from the underground base.

Su Ziyu didn't take all the micro nuclear bombs. Although Pasha said she had means to acquire more through special channels, Su Ziyu only took two, one "Little Fat Man" micro nuclear bomb and one "Big Fat Man" micro nuclear bomb. It was better to leave the last one at Polaris, in case something happened, they'd have some deterrent methods, although these would mostly never be used, unless dealing with some abnormally powerful mutated creatures.

Pasha stayed at Polaris for clean-up, while Su Ziyu returned to the Southern Cross to bring back the little girl.

The gathering place near the water plant might be abandoned.

Pasha didn't have much manpower now, so the small water plant might be directly abandoned or transferred, and the stationed gunmen were temporarily redeployed to Polaris.

Southern Cross.

"Dad." As soon as Su Ziyu returned, he saw the little girl and Matty walking the dog outside. The two young girls were leading a young German Shepherd, taking it for a run outside.

The dog seemed to have a human-like understanding.

As soon as Su Ziyu glanced at it, it showed a very pleasing demeanor, appearing slightly fearful.

"Can we keep it?" The little girl looked up with a pitiful expression.

Su Ziyu turned his gaze to Matty beside her, and Matty softly said, "It's a hunting dog trained by the Brotherhood. They brought a few today and gave us one."

It wasn't a bionic mechanical dog.

It must be a type of mutated dog, looking quite smart.

Su Ziyu squatted down, squeezed its head, pried open its mouth to check the teeth, and examined its fur. The little dog didn't dare to resist, obediently staying put for him to manipulate as he pleased.

"Okay." Su Ziyu squatted to pat the little girl's head, smiling, "What's its name?"

"Great! Thanks, Dad!" The little girl tiptoed up to kiss Su Ziyu's face and then giggled, "It's called Dog Meat."

Dog Meat?

What kind of lousy name is that?

Seems like my daughter inherited my lack of talent for naming!

Luckily, her name was given by Pasha.
