Chapter 32: Assault on the Research Facility 2

Office interior.

Pasha stared stubbornly at Su Ziyu for a while before she finally admitted defeat, whispering, "Alright."

"I'm not going this time."

"But you must be very careful! Promise me you'll come back safely!"

The victorious Su Ziyu couldn't help but smile slightly, saying, "Don't worry. I'll be careful."

Pasha also wanted to join this Brotherhood mission.

But how could Su Ziyu agree to let her go, especially when Polaris was still unstable having just been reclaimed, and the girl was not safe alone in Polaris and needed protection. Just knowing the situation during the Academy's civil war, Su Ziyu couldn't allow Pasha to set out this time. The main reason was that during the Academy's civil war, they had thrown nuclear bombs at each other; the Genetics Faction lunatics had fired several low-yield nuclear bombs back then, and although most were intercepted by the Bionics School, there was still one mini nuclear bomb that exploded.

Otherwise, why do you think they were forced to relocate from the underground research facility?

This time, Su Ziyu was not most worried about those super mutants. Given his current level of enhancement, even if he faced hundreds of super mutants simultaneously, he might not win, but he could certainly escape.

But what if someone throws a nuke.

It would depend on his reaction speed then. Mind Teleportation can escape the range of a nuclear explosion, but it requires prior knowledge, really testing his Perception Ability. Luckily, he had enhanced his Sixth Sense ability early on.

"Safe travels." Pasha walked over and gave Su Ziyu a peck on the cheek.

Su Ziyu smiled as he touched her cheek, then turned to walk outside.

Outside, more than a dozen people were waiting, all uniformly clad in Exoskeleton Power Armor. For this mission, ordinary soldiers were of no use; the minimum standard was highly mechanized Elite Warriors.

Waiting outside was Justin from the Southern Cross base. Leon seemed to have a special task and was not nearby but would soon head to the research facility.

Buzz.

Three helicopters quickly ascended into the sky.

When Su Ziyu looked down, he could see Pasha holding the little girl. The little girl waved her hand towards Su Ziyu, a slight worry showing on her small face.

This operation was led by the Brotherhood.

Although the Bionics School is very powerful, it is clear that the Brotherhood has much more combat experience. This time, at least hundreds of troops are assembled, with one or two hundred sets of Exoskeleton Power Armor. If placed in the Old World, such troops could fight a local war.

This gathering place is not Southern Cross but a location called Deepwater City.

The helicopter flew for most of the day, and when it landed, it was already slightly dark outside. Su Ziyu didn't see Leon; this time, the person greeting them was Zero.

"Follow me."

"Let me arrange accommodation for you." Zero led the way and turned to say, "The mission will start at dawn tomorrow."

"But the vanguard has already set off."

Along the way, soldiers were bustling back and forth, mostly members of the Brotherhood and a few from the Bionics School—their main force hadn't arrived yet. In Su Ziyu's vision, there were Exoskeleton Power Armor everywhere; not far off, two burly men were smoking cigars, with Brotherhood insignias on their exposed metal arms. They seemed to notice Su Ziyu, nodding slightly to greet.

Unknown people.

But they seem to know him.

"If you need anything, notify the guards outside." With that, Zero left.

Su Ziyu sat for a while and decided to go for a stroll.

This city seems to have been rebuilt recently, with hardly any civilians in sight. Upon heading out, the heavy sound of treads was heard; turning his head, he saw several main battle tanks and more than ten armored vehicles in his vision.

Then, batches of elite soldiers jumped out of the armored vehicles.

Each was silent, expressionless, their gaze not even shifting, as though they were emotionless killing machines.

These people seemed odd.

Su Ziyu scanned them with his Spiritual Vision briefly, quickly realizing there was no Spiritual Light emanating from them at all, as if they were empty shells, merely tools following orders.

"Not living people?" Su Ziyu's brow furrowed slightly.

Synthetic soldiers?

These were soldiers from the Bionics School; they gathered like machines and subsequently entered the temporary military camp.

At this time, a helicopter landed.

Leon jumped straight down from above, quickly spotting Su Ziyu and walked over, saying, "Want one?"

He pulled out a cigar as he spoke.

"No need." Su Ziyu shook his head, asking, "What have you been up to these past days?"

"Went to the Glowing Sea." Leon lit the cigar himself, taking a puff, "The Mechanical Atomist Pantheon over there is already in chaos."

"I visited their Atomic Holy Spring."

Seeing Su Ziyu's interested expression, Leon lowered his voice, "The radiation pollution index on that thing is explosive!"

"Yet they drink it as sacred relic."

At this point, he hesitated for a moment, then whispered, "The test results are out."

"An odd thing indeed."

"Despite the high radiation pollution, it contains a sort of special active substance that even the Bionics School couldn't deduce."
