Facing the Apocalypse with My Other Selves

Chapter 148: Awakening of the Gods Main God Level Power!

The Goddess of Death and the Sky God.

In this entire world, among the thirteen Main Gods, these are the only two who recognize humanity's potential, and who have learned the wisdom of civilized society from humankind.

At this moment, the Forest Goddess stood nearby, watching the divine bodies of these two deities, her heart equally overwhelmed with awe.

She had indeed considered the possibility that Wizard Shen Yu would manage to reclaim the divine forms of these two gods.

After all, she herself had experienced the formidable power of the Divine Court firsthand.

Yet what truly caught the Forest Goddess off guard was that Wizard Shen Yu had destroyed the entire Origin Plane in one fell swoop!

To destroy a Plane is not beyond the abilities of the Divine Spirits, but never in such a way—utterly annihilated with such greatness in so brief a moment!

No exaggeration: had that overwhelming force focused upon a single point, striking a Divine Spirit head-on, even a Main God would have been utterly obliterated in a single instant!

Wizard Shen Yu, or rather, the Divine Court—what manner of Mighty Power do they truly wield?

Suddenly, the Forest Goddess felt a surge of relief, grateful to have chosen the side of humanity.

Now, she looked forward with hope at the two divine bodies before her.

Among the ranks of the gods, the Goddess of Death and Sky God—and those Divine Spirits close to humanity—form the group most familiar with each other, even feeling an indescribable sense of superiority when facing the others who remain arrogant, ignorant, and blind.

This superiority stems from cognition itself.

Yet, that is also one reason why they were targeted with such precise ambushes by their fellow gods.

Too obvious—a sharp contrast with the others, clear and distinct.

At this moment, the consciousness of these two Divine Spirits began to awaken, slowly and gently.

Their divine bodies, previously formless, gradually took shape; it seemed, perhaps because they are Main Gods, that the greater Divine Power allowed them to manifest substantial forms, unlike the Forest Goddess who was obscure and indistinct upon her own reawakening.

One was tall and handsome, radiant, clad in a flowing white robe—truly the image of a Sunshine Mage.

The other was slender and elegant; if the Forest Goddess was exquisite, this one was even softer in aspect—though she wore a black robe, her disposition held no aggression whatsoever, more like a gentle, peerless beauty of serene temperament.

It was the Goddess of Death who first opened her eyes; after surveying her surroundings, she did not speak in haste, but instead stretched with a long languid yawn, her perfect figure revealed beneath the long robe.

Her whole bearing was one of utter laziness.

"It's been ages since I've had such a comforting, restful sleep." She even stifled a yawn with her hand, her posture graceful and elegant.

"Sephiria." The Sky God regarded the Goddess of Death, a trace of helplessness in his expression. "This is no time for sleep. Humanity suffers grievous losses. Our brothers and sisters—they do not intend to relent."

"Selenos, you have the makings of a king, but we already have a 'king' now." The Goddess of Death smiled with pursed lips, her gaze settling on Wizard Shen Yu—the mirth dancing at the corner of her eyes. "We need only obey."

"You never wish to think for yourself; if only you used your brain a bit more, we wouldn't have been caught off guard so easily." The Sky God sighed, ever more helpless, but he still turned to Wizard Shen Yu, raising his hand in a gesture of royal courtesy common to many Planes. "Your Majesty, you have saved us; you are the shared hope of gods and humanity. I will obey your every command, though I do suggest: do not let Sephiria grow too lazy—grant her more burdens. She is among the strongest of the Main Gods."

"Once, perhaps. But as I am now—wounded so gravely—I would not dare bear such weight." The Goddess of Death pouted a little, yet her eyes stayed locked upon Wizard Shen Yu, as if eyeing some wondrous treasure that delighted her.

Wizard Shen Yu had been silent from beginning to end.

He merely watched these two Main Gods, and the newly awakened Divine Spirits.

Clearly, though the consciousness of these Divine Spirits had slumbered, it wasn't as if they were wholly ignorant of the outside world.

Indeed, by slumbering so near to the world's origin, they understood even more than most.

For instance, the rise of the Magic Empire, the deeds and consequences wrought by Wizard Shen Yu.

Thus, no matter how different these Divine Spirits' personalities may be, nor how varied their responses upon waking, they all knew now that they stood united—further bound by contract—to heed the command of the Outer God before them.

Whatever their private thoughts, on the surface at least, every one of them was respectful, even reverent.

One could say—they truly are the Divine Spirits who learned from humanity.

Compared to the other gods, even the very ambiance was utterly changed.

To Wizard Shen Yu, who had felt as though he'd long been fighting alongside a horde of 'overpowered children,' this was something of a relief.

"How much power do you have left?" Wizard Shen Yu asked, looking to the Sky God and Goddess of Death.

"Your Majesty," replied the Sky God, who seemed ever mindful of interests; even as he answered, he didn't forget decorum, adding the proper prefix and inclining his head, "My present Power is less than a tenth its former strength. I would not be able to defeat any of the other Main Gods, though beneath their rank none could stand against me. As for Sephiria, though she too is grievously wounded, her Divine Authority remains supremely mighty—no Main God would dare face the Goddess of Death alone."
