Rotting Land: Survive

Chapter 112: Reaping What Heaven Gives (Part 3)

Following Lin Junfu, the group arrived at the base of the building, and what he had just referred to as the "bathroom" was merely a "vegetable washing room" of less than four square meters.

Inside, there was only a sink, and since the water supply had been cut off and there was nothing in the factory that needed cleaning, Lin Junfu had temporarily designated this place as a "bathroom."

Aunt Zhao quickly brought the boiled hot water over, a total of four bottles, but considering the preciousness of water resources, the survivors only kept two bottles. Even so, they were extremely frugal with these two bottles.

The first to enter the room was Tang Xiaoquan. The dim room plunged into darkness the moment the door closed.

Tang Xiaoquan had to wait for two or three minutes until he could barely make out the situation in the dark room.

After taking off his clothes and pouring hot water, the scalding water was too hot to handle, but fortunately, it was the scorching summer, so waiting for three or two minutes wouldn't kill anyone. Otherwise, if it were the cold, rainy winter, that would be a different story… Tang Xiaoquan shuddered at the thought.

Wisps of steam rose from the basin, and since only a quarter of the hot water was poured, Tang Xiaoquan's waiting didn't last long.

As the warm towel gently slid across his cheek, the refreshing coolness immediately invigorated Tang Xiaoquan.

Sadly, this refreshment didn't last long, and Tang Xiaoquan soon succumbed to the constraints of reality.

This was probably the most "thrilling" bath Tang Xiaoquan had taken in his life.

No! Rather than a bath, it was more like a wipe-down. Furthermore, to prevent the already scarce hot water from dripping away, Tang Xiaoquan had to keep the basin pressed against his body throughout the washing process, underscoring the "hardship" involved.

When he finally stepped out, fully dressed, he looked like a waterlogged man from a sauna.

However, whether the water on this waterlogged man was due to the bathing water or the sweat from exhaustion, only Tang Xiaoquan himself truly knew.

Then Hu Xiaodong, Zhao Yunhai, Wu Chao, and others entered one after another, and everyone came out sharing the experience. A bath, which was supposed to be an enjoyable moment, had now become an untouchable sort of "torment."

The worst was Wang Qiang. Although he was allocated the most hot water, don't forget how horrifyingly drenched he was in blood.

Not to mention that just the extra step of "washing his hair" already left him "body and mind exhausted."

In contrast, Dazhuang and Daguo, the two farmhands, had long been accustomed to dealing with sweat, so even in harsh conditions, they took it in stride.

The entire bathing process didn't last long. Eight people used less than half an hour, and if it hadn't been for Wang Qiang spending too much time washing his hair, the final result might have been even shorter.

Thus, it was easy to see how "unforgettable" this bathing session was.

After bathing and changing clothes, everyone returned to their own quarters, where Wei Yang was already prepared to further clean up for the group.

Gently soaking the fabric with alcohol, Wei Yang patiently wiped each participant's skin. Although she knew that this simple measure wasn't enough to kill zombie viruses, given the circumstances, it was better than nothing.

After completing the wipe-down, Wei Yang focused her attention on Wang Qiang, Wang Daguo, and Wei Dazhuang because these three were undoubtedly the most severely injured during today's operation.

Almost all suffered varying degrees of skin redness and swelling, with Wang Daguo's palm peeling and blood oozing out the most severe.

Because of this, Wei Yang prioritized their treatments based on severity.

Once Wang Daguo's right hand was disinfected with iodine, applied with ointment, and thoroughly bandaged with gauze, Wei Yang finally took a deep breath of relief.

"Alright, Brother Daguo, remember to come to me every day for a change of dressing. It should be healed in about a week," she smiled. Despite being tremendously exhausted, her professional demeanour still allowed her to appear composed.

"Thank you!" The sincere Wang Daguo also grinned, revealing rows of sallow teeth, which looked somewhat amusing against his dark skin.

It was the first time he met such an approachable and lovely medical staff. You should know that his most frequent visits were to the local health defense office, but the doctors there, while not very skillful, had notoriously high and mighty attitudes.

Every time he went there for a consultation, it was like he owed them money in a past life. So, encountering Wei Yang's patient and meticulous working attitude, the stark contrast left Wang Daguo feeling emotional.

In the following time, most of the survivors stayed in their own rooms, and with their bodies and minds exhausted, they soon fell into a deep sleep.

They slept so long that even lunchtime came and went with them still asleep.

Seeing that everyone was sleeping soundly, Lin Junfu dismissed the idea of waking them up.

After all, in the current apocalypse, being able to sleep peacefully, comfortably, is a rare happiness.

Night gradually descended, and the usual snores were heard in the three isolation rooms on the second floor of the factory area.

Tang Xiaoquan tiptoed up, lazily stretched, then quietly exited the room.

Candlelight flickered in the factory manager's office, and Tang Xiaoquan could clearly see figures moving within. He steadied himself slightly before walking over with big strides.

"Knight to leap!"

"Wow, Old Zhao, you played the 'stretch east to strike west' brilliantly! You're forcing me to exchange my rook with you!"

"No, no! It's just a forced move! If your army wasn't pressing, how could I bear to part with my knight and rook oh!"

"Sigh, well, if you don't give up something, you can't gain anything, let's trade then!"

Just as he reached the door, Tang Xiaoquan heard a familiar voice. Peeking in, it turned out Old Zhao was playing a game of chess with Lin Junfu across the table.

Perhaps sensing the Black Shadow's approach, Hu Xiaodong, who was sitting further inside the room, alertly glanced at the door and immediately smiled upon recognizing Tang Xiaoquan. "Haha, Little Tang, you're up! Come, come, come and watch Old Zhao and Old Lin's battle of Wei vs. Shu! It's quite exciting!"

"Ah, Little Tang!"

Almost simultaneously, both Lin and Zhao, who had been engrossed in their chess game, paused and turned their heads.

Lin Junfu even stood up directly, eagerly inviting, "You didn't eat lunch and must be hungry, right? Haha, no worries, I'll ask Aunt Zhao to heat up some food for you."
