Rotting Land: Survive

Chapter 260: Water Cannon (Part 3)

The main problem came from the tail end of the queue, as the Water Cannon's range could only cover the front fan area of Lin Junfu, inevitably causing pressure on the tail.

As the queue moved forward step by step, those zombies that had originally been scattered and toppled mostly got back on their feet, even those that couldn't stand still "persisted" in crawling forward on their hands.

Seeing the zombies at the tail returning to the battlefield and nearing the queue, the free agent Lao Zhao quickly rushed to Tang Xiaoquan's side. Holding the Snake Spear specifically crafted by Wang Qiang, he leveraged the advantage of distance to kill the zombies one by one.

But a lone tree struggles to hold up a boat; no matter how formidable Lao Zhao was, he couldn't turn the tide single-handedly.

After all, the number of zombies was substantial, far from something a single person or weapon could change.

The queue silently compressed, and the constantly retreating Tang Xiaoquan could even feel his back touching Hu Xiaodong's backside.

Undoubtedly, at this rate, it was only a matter of time before they were swallowed whole by the beasts.

A change was necessary! As Tang Xiaoquan calmly defended against the approaching zombies, he quickly contemplated a strategy in his mind.

Soon, his solemn face tightened suddenly. After taking down a faceless zombie in front of him, he decisively shouted aloud: "Everyone listen to me, align in a clockwise direction toward one side following my right hand, Lin, you move as well, the beasts are closing in, rotate the Water Gun, scatter them. Also, Dazhuang, protect Lao Lin's left wing!"

After issuing instructions, Tang Xiaoquan took the lead in action, and under his leadership, the remaining people followed his directions to rotate clockwise to the side.

Meanwhile, Lao Lin's Water Gun began its first full rotation to clear all around.

For a moment, countless zombies were blasted into the air under the Water Cannon's attack. From a high vantage, the entire spraying scene resembled a blooming lotus flower, with the Survivor Team as the bud and the scattering zombies as the opening petals.

Not knowing how much water remained in the reservoir and worried about it running out prematurely, Tang Xiaoquan dared not let the rest stop, urging them to keep moving forward while rotating.

Finally, through his shouts and their coordinated efforts, the Survivor Team successfully reached the front of the vehicles.

Wu Chao was the first to unlock the rear latch of the vehicle, with the sound of a metal clink, Dazhuang jumped onto the vehicle first.

On the other side of the car head, almost simultaneously, there was the sound of Lao Zhao boarding the vehicle.

"It's working! It's working! Uncle Zhao is on board!" Ah Cheng was so excited he almost cried upon seeing Lao Zhao jump into the driver's seat.

Yes, the car doors being operable meant that the survivors' desperate gamble had paid off.

The excited joy further fueled the survivors' fighting spirit, and the seeds of hope burned brightly in each of their hearts.

"Catch, Brother Dazhuang, be careful!" Wang Qiang advised Dazhuang to be cautious while turning to place Hu Xiaodong on the edge of the rear compartment.

Dazhuang seemed indifferent as he braced under Hu Xiaodong's armpits, stepping back and lifting him onto the vehicle without a hitch.

"Next, Zhao Huilong!!"

Time was of the essence, and right after Hu Xiaodong was pulled onto the vehicle, Tang Xiaoquan quickly instructed Wen Quanxin to help move Zhao Huilong to the front.

"All of you head to the right, I'll handle security for the other sections!" Seeing the zombies about to close in again, Lin Junfu made a tactical adjustment request.

Without further ado, everyone moved instinctively and formed a line on Lao Lin's right.

As the new formation was completed, Lao Lin increased the amplitude of the Water Gun's sway without hesitation.

Immediately, the already "grim" scene turned even more "heroic."

The reason behind Lao Lin's actions was the realization that despite his efforts, some areas would inevitably remain uncovered by the Water Gun.

So, he simply gathered everyone to one side, each taking charge of their role.

This way, it avoided the potential mishaps of friendly fire and enabled maximal enemy elimination.

Understanding Lao Zhao's intent, as soon as Tang Xiaoquan settled into position, he promptly countered the assault while warning everyone: "Focus on defending this side, leave Lao Lin's side alone, Zhao Huilong, hurry up!!"

Seeing dozens of seconds pass, Zhao Huilong was still dawdling and not on the vehicle, Tang Xiaoquan couldn't help but frown.

Though he understood that the latter just recovered and was uneasy, this was a life-and-death moment, and every second's delay could spell disaster.

Moreover, to him, Zhao Huilong was just an acquaintance of barely a day's acquaintance, not worth risking his and the brothers' lives for.

Thus, it was evident that Tang Xiaoquan had not genuinely accepted this "unexpected newcomer."

After hearing Tang Xiaoquan's urging, Zhao Huilong's already anxious heart pounded even faster, and his initially slow movements inadvertently quickened.

After all, the prolonged loneliness had sufficed him with the past, and he truly feared being abandoned due to annoyance or trouble.

Determined to see the next day's sun, Zhao Huilong pushed himself, leveraging all his strength with hands on Wang Qiang and Wu Chao's shoulders. With a loud cry, he struggled but finally clambered onto the city maintenance vehicle.

With Zhao Huilong safely on board, the Survivor Team's breakout plan was thus half-complete.

Though the process was a bit arduous, overall, it went relatively smoothly.

"Alright! Qiang, Chao, Ah Cheng, let's get up as well."

"Thump, thump, thump!" As Tang Xiaoquan's words fell, a succession of boarding sounds followed.

Once aboard, the survivors instinctively positioned themselves on either side, beginning to establish a defensive stance.

Mouting the Corpse-Blocking Shields onto the protective railings, Wang Qiang picked up the wooden Snake Spear Lao Zhao had left behind.

Having long harbored pent-up anger, now armed, he naturally vented it towards the throngs of advancing zombies.

"Lin, you can come up now!"

Lao Lin didn't turn back because the diminishing water force demanded his full attention focused on the front line.

Slowly retreating to the vehicle's edge, after handing the crucial Water Gun over to Tang Xiaoquan, Lin Junfu finally sprang onto the city maintenance vehicle!!

With everything in place, all the survivors safely boarded the city maintenance vehicle; the next step left was only one thing to do:

Pray! Pray that this vehicle, abandoned for nearly two months, could start successfully.
