Rise Of The Death Monarch

Chapter 77: Death Soldiers

''Don't slap my bum, Death!'' Lilith exclaimed, catching the cultists' attention.

Jacob's eyes lit up as he announced. ''Looks like a Death Mistress has arrived! The cult will be happy.''

''Oh god, what have you done now?'' the blonde teased.

Dante chuckled at this before a village appeared at the end of the road. They were led to a big house, and the scent of death lingered in the air. By the time the duo reached a big house, the Death Fiends appeared around the settlement, scaring the people and cultists alike.

''Looks like they've finished collecting bodies from the battlefields,'' Lilith muttered, seeing the creatures throwing the corpses into the Domain.

Jacob rushed up to him, a panicked expression as he revealed. ''Blood Fiends have found us, my lord! We need to get behind the runes!''

Dante laughed at the man's reaction. He shook his head and explained. ''The monsters belong to me. Now take me to the bodies you're trying to hide, it sticks.''

The human's eyes widen before nodding like an excited chicken. While walking toward more bodies, Luna finally appeared from the Domain, stretching her arms, greeting him in a warm voice. ''Afternoon, handsome. Where are we now? And why are there humans staring at us?''

''Oh, they're part of the Death Cult of Dawnfen,'' he revealed. ''And this is their hideout we will be resting to allow the heroes to get back to the capital.''

When the wolf beauty heard this, her ears twitched and her tail swayed in excitement. ''That's good, we need some humans to control. They will be able to help us get past the blockades that'll appear in the coming days?''

''Blockades?'' Lilith questioned.

''Yes, my lady,'' one of the cultists answered, voice full of respect. ''The Darkmoore generals will block all roads leading to the capital; only merchants or citizens are allowed to pass by.''

''What about creating fake papers?'' Dante responded.

Everyone looked at him with strange expressions. He looked at the two women and cultists, but it was Jacob who filled in his lost knowledge. ''We carry around cards tied to our blood as identification.''

Now Dante was even more confused as Lilith took out one, holding it out for him to see. ''Wysteria Kingdom?'' he asked.

''A long forgotten realm that was wiped out by the Darkmoore scum.''

''Don't worry, this kingdom will become a graveyard once I finish with them,'' he reassured the Death Witch.

Following that, Jacob led them to an empty manor house and revealed. ''This is where you can stay while we gather the cult. Many people will join when they see your Death Fiends protecting this place like soldiers.''

Just then, a notification popped up in Dante's vision, making his smile grow wide.

'More benefits? is there any point collecting weaker monsters?'

Dante fell into his own mind only to be nudged by Luna, her big blue eyes glowing with amusement. ''Are you okay, master?''

''Yes, sorry, Marzanna gave me another gift,'' he reassured.

He looked at Jacob and spoke. ''We're heading somewhere but will be back later. Make me a nice stew and fresh bread, that's doable?''

The older man quickly nodded. ''Of course, my lord! I'll have my wife do it personally. I have cult matters to attend to.''

Following that, Dante opened a portal back to the Domain, and the trio stepped through, only for Lilith to inquire. ''What's the gift?''

''Death Soldiers, I don't know what they are, but it's got to help out,'' he said when appearing in the Death Lab.

The three Death Tyrants stood motionless, causing Luna's tail to stiffen as the creature's eyes followed her. Dante chuckled at this and shouted to the undead. ''She's a Death Mistress like Lilith, leave them alone!''

When the Tyrants heard this, their fists hit their chests in response. The air rushed through the lab, sending Lilith stumbling, but he caught the blonde. Steadying her before pulling up his upgrades and status.

Pleased with the results, Dante turned to the two baffled women and suggested. ''You both can wait back at the treehouse if you wish? I'm going to test out these Death Soldiers.''

''I want to see them!'' the blonde suddenly exclaimed, a hopeful expression appearing on her face.

Luna nodded in agreement. ''I'd like to witness what Marzanna has given you this time,' she said.

When Dante heard this, he smiled before pulling up what information the system had about the Death Soldiers.

'Oh my own perfessonal army,' his red eyes glowed with excitement at the thought of summoning thousands of them.

Dante shook his head and burned a thousand points to summon one. A heartbeat later, death magic erupted around him in a violent surge. The women staggered back, only to find themselves shielded by the looming Death Tyrants as the torrent got worse. Mana swirled into the silhouette of a knight.

With a thunderous crack, the figure solidified, an armored warrior clad in obsidian plate, a sinister red glow seeping from the gaps. As the last sparks of energy faded, the soldier dropped to one knee, sword in hand, and his eyes narrowed with curiosity, but he created eleven more, costing him eleven thousand Death Points.

Once all the soldiers were there, they knelt all together as Dante used Death Eyes on them.

'Interesting,' he mused, red eyes glowing with excitement. 'Looks like they'll get stronger alongside me.'

Following that, Lilith approached the lead knight, her expression full of curiosity as she spoke. ''They're strong for summons, this could help us take out the Darkmoore Kingdom.''

''Why are they giving off a strange aura?'' Luna questioned.

Dante glanced at the wolf woman, explaining. ''They're made of death magic. So they give off a creepy aura to scare our enemies.''

''Well, we can use them during the next attack,'' Lilith suggested. ''These, the Creepers and Death Fiend, will kill everyone in a castle.''

''Yeah we will,'' he responded. ''Let's get back to the cult, I want to eat some stew. I'm getting tired of noodles.''

Following that, the trio left the Domain after Dante dismissed the soldiers who vanished into his shadow, waiting to be called upon. Once back in the real world, they were greeted by a twelve-year-old girl wearing black robes with a red hand on the chest. This caught their attention, but the human girl beamed.

''Papa was telling the truth!'' she exclaimed. ''You and your monsters are real!''

Dante chuckled at this, but Luna was the first to speak. ''Of course he's real. The Death Goddess chose him herself.''

When the little girl heard this, her big brown eyes lit up, but an older woman soon appeared, wearing the same tobes. ''I'm sorry, my lord, ladies. Sadie here is a curious little one and likes to talk to the cult.''

''Don't worry about it,'' he waved away her worries. ''It doesn't bother me if I'm honest.''

Just after that, the woman smiled. ''If you follow me, I can take you to the feast. I've just finished cooking it.''

''Your Jacob's wife?'' Dante questioned, a curious glint in his eyes.

''I am, my name is Selvina,'' she introduced herself. ''And you've already met our daughter, Sadie.''

''I'm Dante Ashbourne,'' he replied, then motioned toward the two women. ''These are Luna and Lilith, my Death Mistresses.''

When Selvina heard this, her green eyes widened in awe as Sadie spoke before her mother could. ''So you're our leaders? Papa said we've been waiting for the Death Monarch for many years. We got chased out of the city for his preaching.''

''Most humans hate people like us,'' the blonde suddenly responded, her lips curling into a warm smile. ''I was human but turned to death when all was lost. Now I thrive as the Death Witch of Dawnfen, but now I've become a Death Mistress, which is better to me.''

Selvina and little Sadie led them toward a nearby house, only for the aroma of fresh food to hit Dante's nose, making his stomach rumble. Their steps quicken as the older woman opens the door, welcoming the trio inside with warm expressions. ''Come in and eat, Jacob said you three were hungry, so I cooked up extra.''
