Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy

Chapter 1083: Sreas' Bravery

None of the Chaos Immortals expected him to appear like this.

He was alone, unshielded, and floating calmly in front of their lead airship as if the battlefield below didn't exist.

The figure had two curved horns, four arms folded across his chest, and a cloak that fluttered against the wind.

His presence was unmistakable… There was a dense, ancient, and mystical aura around him...

It wasn't a normal Divinity. It was something that only the Asura Race could possess…

Kent was curious why this figure appeared so fearless in front of the hundreds of immortals.

'Is he planning to surrender?' Kent thought for a moment. After all, it wouldn't be surprising if they got scared of their lineup.

Neylan, Gyn, Arin, and Nyssa stepped forward, each one instinctively preparing for combat. But the figure didn't attack. He simply hovered there, watching them quietly.

Then, Neylan scoffed.

"Is this it? The great defender of the Shadow Domain? He looks like he wandered into the wrong battlefield."

Gyn chuckled… "Four arms and horns don't make you invincible. He's just another immortal with a mutation complex."

Arin tilted his head, analyzing the figure. "No armor… No visible weapon… and no support. He's either overconfident or delusional."

Nyssa didn't speak, but her expression was cold. She was already preparing a binding spell, just in case.

Kent, on the other hand, remained silent, watching the Asura carefully.

He could feel something strange, something that didn't match the usual mana signatures of mortals or Immortals. But even then, the scene was absurd.

A lone figure, standing against hundreds.

"Maybe he's here to beg," Neylan said. "Throw himself at our mercy. That would be a first for the Shadow Domain."

Gyn laughed. "Or maybe he's here to die. Some kind of martyr fantasy."

Arin nodded. "If he's trying to buy time, he's doing a poor job of it. We've already breached the outer defenses. Capone City won't last another hour."

The airship crew joined in the ridicule. Some of the younger Immortals whispered jokes. Others prepared their Chaos Beasts for the next wave, ignoring the lone figure entirely.

But the Asura didn't react as he soon, confirmed the leader of these Immortals.

Soon, he looked straight at Kent…

Then he spoke.

"I am Sreas. Born of the Asura Lineage. Guardian of the Shadow Domain..."

His voice wasn't loud, but it carried across the deck with clarity...

The Immortals finally looked interested. This was their first time seeing an Asura in person and they seemed really weird.

Mennena had spoken to them vaguely about this race, but none of them had expected one to appear like this. Not in the middle of an invasion. Not with such composure.

Kent stepped forward and soon, the space around him folded, and he appeared on the deck looking at the Asura who was floating in front of the airship.

"You came alone?"

"I did."

"You're either brave," Kent muttered, "or you've lost your mind."

Sreas didn't blink. "I came to offer a challenge."

At this point, the other officers had also appeared on the front deck.

Gyn scoffed after hearing Srea's reason for coming here.

"A challenge? You're outnumbered. We have airships, beasts, and hundreds of Immortals. What could you possibly offer us to accept such a one-sided challenge?"

Sreas raised one hand, and the air around him pulsed.

"A duel. One on one… No interference. No formations... No beasts. Just me and your strongest."

Kent frowned. "You want a duel? Against one of us?"

"Yes."

The deck went quiet.

Then Neylan laughed. "You must be joking. Why would we waste time with a duel when we can simply crush you together?"

Arin nodded. "This isn't a tournament. This is war."

Sreas tilted his head slightly. "Then why are you hesitating?"

Nyssa's eyes narrowed. "You think we're hesitating… We just don't see the value. Anyone can calculate how useless this is. There's no benefit in accepting your duel."

"Then calculate this," Sreas said. "If I lose, I will leave the Shadow Domain together with my apprentices below... I will not protect it again. You may conquer it, burn it, rule it… I will not interfere."

That made them pause.

Even Kent didn't respond immediately.

It was a real offer. No more interference. No more Asura blood empowering defenders. No more elite apprentices disrupting their advance.

But Sreas wasn't finished.

"If I win," he continued, "you will spare Capone City. You will retreat from its borders and leave its people unharmed. You can attack the other cities if you want…"

Neylan frowned. "You're stalling."

"Perhaps," Sreas admitted. "But if you're so confident, what does it matter?"

Kent stepped forward, his aura flaring. "You think you can bait us into a duel with words?"

"No," Sreas said. "I think you need to prove you're not just cowards hiding behind numbers."

That did it.

Gyn's expression twisted. Arin clenched his fists. Even Nyssa, usually composed, looked irritated.

Kent's Chaos Energy surged. "You dare insult us?"

"I speak plainly," Sreas replied. "You came with an army to crush mortals. You sent beasts to slaughter civilians. And now, when one man stands before you, you hesitate."

Kent's voice dropped. "What's in it for us?"

"I already told you. If I lose, I walk away. Permanently. No tricks. No second chances. But if I win, you spare Capone City. That's all."

The Immortals conferred briefly. It was a gamble, but a tempting one. If Sreas was stalling, they could still kill him afterward. If he was serious, they had a chance to remove one of the strongest defenders of the Shadow Domain without further losses.

"I'll do it," Gyn said. "This won't take long."

Kent didn't object. He knew Gyn's style… It was direct, overwhelming, and merciless. Against a lone Asura, it was more than enough.

The others agreed.

"I guess this is a good entertainment before we crush them..." Neylan muttered.

Arin chuckled. "Let him have his duel. It'll be the last show they get before everything burns."

Nyssa didn't smile, but she didn't protest either. She was already searching for a good battlefield, ensuring no interference would occur.

Kent turned back to Sreas.

"You'll face General Gyn. He'll represent our side… However, you have to know that the siege below will not stop until you win…" Kent said before he let out a sinister laugh…
