Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 112: The Chips of Balance

After forcefully smashing open the door, what appeared before Chu Xiu was a giant circular hall.

In the center of the hall, there was a huge Blood Pool filled with thick blood plasma, which was "gurgling" and bubbling outward like there was a life form breathing rhythmically beneath the Blood Pool.

Around the Blood Pool stood rows of cryogenic chambers arranged in circles, some unoccupied while others held mutated Corpse Demons.

These Corpse Demons had mostly merged with some kind of objects. Some bodies were covered with blades, some had their chests open with a cannon barrel protruding, their ribs replaced by steel frames, and others had fused with Armor, with armor plates and flesh merging into one, just like...

Just like that Silver Knight outside the Shelter.

These Corpse Demons, like the wildest fantasies of a mad scientist, made Chu Xiu reveal a pensive look.

Finally, his gaze fell on the deepest part of the hall.

There stood a transparent glass box, roughly three meters in length, width, and height, inside which was a cozy room with cartoon wallpaper on a pink desk, and a bed curtain with ruffled lace like a princess dress. In the center of the children's bed was embedded a Crystal Coffin, inside which lay a pale-faced girl child, her eyes slightly closed, as if she were asleep.

And right beside the girl's pillow was a group photo of four people.

In the center was a woman holding the girl, to the right was an Officer in military attire with a serious expression, and to the left was a slightly overweight, kindly smiling middle-aged man.

What surprised Chu Xiu was that the middle-aged man was clearly the face of the man he saw in the strange tree, while the Officer on the right seemed familiar too, especially the brown eyes which were strikingly similar to those of the Silver Knight.

Chu Xiu seemed to have realized something, thoughtfully touching his chin.

However, after surveying the hall thoroughly, he still didn't see the shadow of the responsible person.

He sent out Ghosts to explore, but apart from this secret chamber, there were no other spaces.

"Don't waste your effort; you won't find me." A voice sounded again from the speakers, "This is just an Ordinary experiment site, I'm not here, nor is there anything you want, please leave."

However, the words of the "responsible person" did not move Chu Xiu's steps.

After checking the cryogenic chambers around once more, he smiled.

"Interesting."

"Although I'm not sure how it was done, it seems you have mastered a method to fuse Corpse Demons with objects."

"However, referencing the photograph and scattered data, I lean towards another possibility, that you have mastered a method to fuse objects with humans, but the cost is the person becomes Corpse Demonized after fusion."

"The Silver Knight and the giant tree outside, that's your handiwork, isn't it?"

As Chu Xiu's words fell, the "responsible person" fell silent again.

Chu Xiu didn't mind, continuing: "The life support system here has been destroyed, so to survive, one must become Corpse Demonized, which leaves two possibilities: either you're now hidden among the dozens of Corpse Demons in the cryogenic chambers here, or the item you've fused with has extremely high concealment, evading my search."

"What do you think about the idea of fusing with the main control center's computer?"

"I think it's a bit far-fetched, but no matter, whichever it is, once I destroy this place completely, I'll find you, won't I?"

Chu Xiu's tone was very flat, as though he was casually talking about an unprovable fantasy that suddenly popped up on a sunny afternoon, yet it pushed the responsible person into long silence.

After a while, she spoke with a bitter voice, "It's all the curse of the 'Endless Blood Pool.'"

"The Blood Pool's Power will continuously fuse people and items together, causing irreversible mutations."

"One day, it just appeared suddenly, the ground cracked open, and viscous, foul blood gushed out like a giant, never-ending Blood Pool."

"People in the Shelter went mad, mutating one by one, they massacred each other, my daughter started showing signs too, I, I didn't know what to do, I was so scared..."

The woman's voice trembled, but eventually stabilized: "You guessed it right; for my daughter, I merged with the main control computer of the center, it was a very risky plan, but I was lucky to succeed."

"Afterward, I controlled all the Corpse Demons using the Shelter's permissions and attempted to research a way to break the Blood Pool's curse."

"There's nothing you want here, just a pitiful mother trying her best to save her daughter."

As the responsible person's voice fell, a prompt sound rang in Chu Xiu's ear.

[The base manager has been found.]

[Mission guidance ended, free to act to obtain rewards.]

Chu Xiu was somewhat speechless, feeling that this mission guidance was no different from a decoration, irrelevant whether it existed or not.

Fortunately, however, he knew there was a [Legend] item here.

So he directly said: "I have received concrete information that there is a valuable piece of Equipment here. I have no interest in your matters or your daughter's, give it to me, and I will leave immediately."

The responsible person hesitated for a long time before saying: "No, that piece of Equipment is my only hope."

"Only Equipment of [Legend] Quality, with its powerful Power, may counteract the Blood Pool's influence and save my daughter."
