Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 238: Escape

"Not good! Don't let them run away!" The man in black robes shouted upon seeing the situation.

The others also prepared to intercept, attempting to disrupt the Light Bishop's casting.

The Light Bishop's casting was quick; at this moment, he had already completed his magic, turning into a beam of light with everyone around, including the distant Duke, and disappearing.

Only the carriage and goods were left on the spot, even the corpses were hurriedly taken away.

"Damn it!" The man in black robes cursed furiously, full of rage.

They had planned for so long, but in the end, it was all for naught.

Though the goods were still there, what they wanted wasn't these ordinary goods, but something in the hands of the Bishop or the Holy Daughter.

Duke felt the pull of the teleportation without any resistance, allowing it to carry him away.

He didn't expect that in such a situation, the Light Bishop would still consider him and take him along.

Duke was battling with those two Mages, unable to be taken down by them temporarily.

If he hadn't been taken along, Duke would surely have fallen into a siege by others, undoubtedly leading to a dangerous situation.

Among those people were two whose strength was comparable to first-level Crystalized Wizards, which Duke alone certainly couldn't handle.

The Light Bishop taking Duke with him was essentially saving his life.

...

A flash of light, Duke and the others appeared in the wilderness, with a forest visible in the distant sky behind them.

It seemed the teleportation had directly taken them out of the forest, crossing an unknown distance.

Duke saw the Light Bishop spit out a mouthful of fresh blood, his whole being deflating like a withered balloon; if it weren't for Knight Henry supporting him in time, he would have collapsed to the ground.

This teleport was clearly not easy, otherwise the Light Bishop would not have used this teleport magic at the last moment.

The Light Bishop gasped for air, but the intake was less than the outtake; he was likely on the brink of life.

Duke walked over, took out a Sun Resilience Potion, and said, "If you trust me, this should help you stabilize for now."

He realized that the Light Bishop's current condition was not optimistic, probably due to underlying injuries, combined with the strain of sustaining a protective shield and forcefully teleporting so many people over a long distance, creating a massive burden on his body and spiritual power.

The Light Bishop's already frail body couldn't withstand such a strong backlash, leaving him at death's door.

The Sun Resilience Potion couldn't completely improve the Light Bishop's condition, but it could temporarily stabilize his body, preventing immediate collapse and sudden death.

The Light Bishop nodded, and Knight Henry promptly took the Sun Resilience Potion, removed the cork, and slowly fed it to the Light Bishop.

As the energy of the Sun Resilience Potion entered his body, a warm power spread throughout, quickly healing the injuries within the Light Bishop.

After drinking this Sun Resilience Potion, the Light Bishop's complexion became a bit rosy, and his breathing was no longer so labored.

Duke then took out another Sun Resilience Potion: "Drink another one later, and your condition should stabilize."

After all, the Light Bishop had saved his life, so two potions were no big deal.

"Thank you!" The Light Bishop said hoarsely.

"Bishop!" The Holy Daughter Dali, with tears in her eyes, was extremely worried.

She then wiped her tears and said to Duke, "Thank you for your help, are you an Alchemist?"

"Sort of." Duke nodded.

He wasn't sure what Alchemists in this world did, but guessed it was similar to those in the Wizard Plane.

Dali recalled seeing Duke in action earlier, realizing she had indeed done something unnecessary, and quickly apologized, "I'm sorry, if it weren't for us, you wouldn't have been in such trouble."

"There's no need to bring up past matters, let's go before they catch up," Duke calmly said.

The group then continued forward; they were already not far from Azure Vault City, estimated to be about an hour away.

Duke took this time to get acquainted with them, learning each other's names.

The Light Bishop thought for a moment and said, "Sir, could you possibly take the Holy Daughter Her Highness ahead first, to reach Azure Vault City as soon as possible? Our Light Sect will reward you satisfactorily."

Now, they were a group of the old, the weak, and the sick, all somewhat injured.

These knights had no means of flight, much less carrying someone while flying.

However, Duke had displayed the ability to fly during his battle with the Four Gods Sect, most likely capable of carrying someone as well.

If Duke could take Dali ahead, then the primary objective of the Light Sect would be fulfilled.

Duke pondered and said, "I can, but why do you trust me so much?"

This was a question that puzzled him; the Light Sect people seemed to trust him too readily.

If Duke were also one of the Four Gods Sect, Holy Daughter Dali would fall right into the claws.

Holy Daughter Dali explained, "I have a rather special talent, one that lets me sense the good and evil in others. The feeling I've gotten from you is very good, like being beside a vast ocean of light."

This was also the reason she insisted on taking care of Duke earlier; it all stemmed from Dali's innate ability to discern good from evil.

More importantly, the feeling Duke gave her was special, making her subconsciously want to be close.

Duke related this to his High-Level Light Element Affinity Talent, understanding somewhat of what was going on.

He didn't know which gods the Four Gods Sect and Light Sect of this world worshiped, but was certain it wasn't the Goddess of Light from the Wizard Plane.

The Light Element, distributed across all areas of the Endless Plane, had corresponding faith, which was very normal.

Due to his light attribute talent, it was natural that people from the Light Sect felt close to him.

He thought for a moment and said, "Okay, but I will prioritize my own safety before escorting Dali. Is that acceptable?"

Duke felt that he could help, but matters needed to be made clear; he would prioritize his safety.

"Mr. Duke helping Dali is already greatly appreciated, and if we encounter danger, Mr. Duke, you can leave first. I do have quite formidable abilities," Dali smiled.

After all, Dali was a mid-level Mage; her spiritual power was stronger than Duke's, only lacking long-range flight methods.

Duke had already noticed that casters in this plane had relatively singular means, their research into spells and energy was insufficiently deep, mostly still in the application phase.

Those people from the Four Gods Sect he encountered earlier used solely single-element attribute spells, with almost no other attributes.
