Duke was unsure about what happened to the God of Light on the Oracle Plane. It was quite mysterious for such a sudden disappearance.
He also thought about how the Four Gods Sect and the Light Sect maintained harmony on the surface and even concealed their identities when acting against the Light Sect.
It is said that there was no inherent conflict between the Four Gods and the God of Light, and they never instigated their followers to clash with those of other gods.
Perhaps because they were all born from the will of the Plane, they naturally refrained from infighting.
"Mr. Duke?" Dali softly called as she observed Duke, lost in thought, "You seem to have a keen interest in deities themselves?"
Duke returned to his senses, took a sip of tea to mask the fluctuations in his emotions.
He realized that his previous inquiry might have been too direct and profound. As an outsider, his zeal in exploring the nature of the gods was too intense, not quite fitting for an ordinary mage's persona.
"I apologize, Your Holiness," Duke smiled apologetically, "It's just that hearing about the God of Light's upheaval and understanding that the sect's mages' power stems from divine favor piqued my curiosity. After all, this is vastly different from how we rogue mages rely on perceiving elements. As you mentioned earlier, outside the sect, mages perceive elemental forces to enhance their spiritual power, which seems inefficient and highly demanding?"
Dali nodded, her face showing a hint of helplessness and concern: "Indeed, relying on one's natural talent to perceive elements is like groping in the dark, necessitating immense affinity and insight. Our sect's method, however, is akin to the deity lighting a lamp for us, pointing the way, making perception clear and stable. This is why the sect attracts many followers and cultivates numerous mages. But now..."
Her words halted, and a shadow briefly clouded her bright eyes: "The Light no longer responds, that lamp... has extinguished. New followers face increased difficulty in perceiving elements, with spiritual growth slowing or even stopping. Eventually, the continuity of the Light Sect is worrisome."
Duke understood that the Wizard System's Meditation Technique, in some ways, was a highly optimized and more universally applicable methodology for perceiving Free Energy Particles.
By constructing specific spiritual pathways and imagery, it significantly lowered the threshold for perception and improved efficiency.
This native, talent-reliant method of perception on the Oracle Plane seemed incredibly inefficient and wasteful to a wizard.
Duke was quite interested in the process by which Dali and these followers perceived the presence of the deity, and perhaps observing it might reveal some insight.
He thought for a moment and said, "Your Holiness, would it be possible to observe your prayer process to the deity?"
"Of course, although the deity no longer responds, I still persist in daily prayer and perception. Please, follow me," Dali said.
Dali stood up, leading Duke through the spacious, bright hallways to a relatively large hall.
The place was arranged with utmost simplicity yet exuded a sense of sanctity.
The walls were pure white, embedded with some Crystal Stones emitting a soft white light, and the floor was laid with elegant carpets.
In the center of the room were a dozen low, round cushions for prayer, intended for those with certain status within the Light Sect.
At the very back of the hall stood a giant statue, visibly a woman's sculpture, suggesting the God of Light on the Oracle Plane also had a female appearance.
As usual, Holy Daughter Dali half-knelt on the foremost cushion, lowering her head, clasping her hands, and closed her eyes to begin her prayer and perception.
Duke watched the Divine Statue of Light ahead. As Dali began her prayer, he could perceive some faint energy transferring from the statue onto Dali.
But the distance was quite far, and without a firsthand experience, he couldn't determine the nature of this energy.
About ten minutes later, Holy Daughter Dali concluded this brief prayer session, and it seemed she was in a better state, with an increased amount of energy within her.
Duke considered this and said, "I wonder if I might be permitted to pray and perceive?"
He made this seemingly bold request without expecting much, just wishing to personally experience it.
To his surprise, Holy Daughter Dali readily agreed: "Of course, the God of Light welcomes all who yearn for illumination."
"Thank you!" Duke adjusted his demeanor, even straightening his robe, trying to show enough respect.
He approached a line of cushions in the front, casually selecting one to sit on, then closed his eyes to try to communicate as best as he could with the Divine Statue of Light before him.
Duke was not new to this; he had experience communicating with the Statue of the Goddess of Light on the Wizard Plane.
Whether due to this experience or his high Light Elemental Affinity, he instantly established some connection with the Divine Statue of Light before him.
Duke could sense a Divine Statue of Light appearing before him, not a physically sculpted one, but a conglomeration of energy.
A magnificent energy emanated from this statue, continuously pouring into his body.
"This is... neither Magic Power nor Spiritual Power, what exactly is this... Power of Faith?" Duke quickly calmed himself; this energy had no adverse effects on him, instead feeling particularly pleasant, so he embraced the energy's transmission silently.
During this process, Holy Daughter Dali watched this scene unfold with disbelief.
A white mist appeared from the Divine Statue of Light, continuously flowing into Duke, making his entire body seem to glow.
Dali knew what this meant, signifying Duke had an extremely high Light Attribute Affinity and was favored greatly by the God of Light.
Even she had never received such Divine Favor.
Especially since the God of Light had ceased responding, such an occurrence had not happened again.
For a moment, Dali even doubted whether the God of Light had returned.
But she did not perceive the God of Light's return.
The whole process seemed slow, but it only lasted a few minutes before it was over.
Duke felt warmth throughout his body, and a new source of white energy, the Power of Faith, appeared in his mind.
He did not understand why the Divine Statue of Light would transmit the Power of Faith to him, nor did he know how to utilize this power.
Generally speaking, only Level 4 Life capable of coalescing a Divine Status could utilize the Power of Faith, which seemed useless for beings below Level 4.
