Wizard: Starting from the Skill Tree

Chapter 268: The Path of the Crystalized Wizard

Within the three stages of a Level 1 Mage, the power gap between a Crystalized Wizard and the previous two stages is immense, almost at a completely different level.

Generally speaking, only after reaching the level of a Crystalized Wizard does one truly possess the strength of a Level 1 Mage.

The threshold of 150 points of Spiritual Power is a full hundred points higher than the 50-point threshold of a Level 1 Gaseous Mage, making the disparity naturally significant.

Once a Crystalized Wizard possesses a Spiritual Power Crystal, their strength undergoes a qualitative leap, achieving a qualitative change from a quantitative accumulation.

A Crystalized Wizard can almost sweep through most Gaseous and Liquidation Wizards unless it's a special case like Duke, otherwise, they can generally crush rivals with sheer strength.

The process of condensing a Spiritual Power Crystal is crucial and also relates to planning the route for advancing to a Level 2 Mage.

The Wizard System is very complex, with numerous different branches, such as Elemental Mages, Bloodline Mages, Mechanical Wizards, Undead Mages, and so on.

In the initial stages, the promotion routes of these different branches are generally similar, but the division becomes more pronounced as one progresses, and the ways of advancement gradually differ.

For instance, an Elemental Mage aiming to advance to Level 2 needs to achieve body Elementalization, and only after possessing the ability of Elementalization can one be called a Level 2 Elemental Mage.

The promotion of Bloodline Mages has always been straightforward: enhancing one's own bloodline strength, while Mechanical Wizards involve freely switching between flesh and machine, and so forth.

In this process, the Spiritual Power Crystal plays an important role, especially for those intending to take the path of an Elemental Mage; the Crystalized Wizard stage is crucial.

Generally, it's very challenging to condense a Spiritual Power Crystal. Compressing Gaseous Spiritual Power into Liquid form is relatively easy, but the difficulty of condensing Liquid Spiritual Power into a Solid Spiritual Power Crystal is extremely high.

During this process, one often needs to rely on a material known as the Crystal Core to aid completion.

The so-called Crystal Core is the core of a type of material, containing various different properties and characteristics, helping a wizard better condense liquid Spiritual Power into a solid crystal.

For Elemental Mages, they usually choose Crystal Cores with attributes like Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water, aiding the subsequent advancement to Level 2 Elemental Mage, and providing a good enhancement effect on their elemental magic.

Duke felt this process was somewhat similar to the Knight's Life Seed Elementalization, yet not quite the same.

Firstly, the Knight's Life Seed Elementalization only converts the trained Fighting Spirit into a specific attribute, without the ability to Elementalize the body.

Meanwhile, the process of a Crystalized Wizard choosing a Crystal Core is essentially paving the way for advancement to a Level 2 Mage.

Secondly, the most important point is, Wizards can choose multiple Crystal Cores when condensing a Spiritual Power Crystal, meaning they can choose Crystal Cores of various different attributes like Earth, Fire, Water, and Wind.

However, this process is not that simple, requiring extremely strict demands on the wizard's own talent and qualifications.

Most people have different affinities for different elements, and choosing the attribute with the highest affinity to advance to a Level 2 Mage is the most prudent, with a relatively higher success probability.

For example, if a wizard has the highest Elemental Affinity with Fire Element, but low affinity with Wind Element.

Then when condensing a Spiritual Power Crystal, they can only choose a Fire Attribute Crystal Core, unable to use a Wind Attribute Crystal Core.

Because the difference in their Elemental Affinity is too great, even if they used two different attribute Crystal Cores, the final condensed Spiritual Power Crystal would still be of the Fire Attribute, and the Wind Attribute Crystal Core would have no effect.

This is one of the difficulties in condensing a Spiritual Power Crystal, and condensing one requires not only choosing the Elemental Attribute with the highest affinity but also ensuring this Elemental Attribute has a sufficiently high affinity.

If the Elemental Affinity is average, even using a corresponding attribute Crystal Core, the probability of success would be very low.

This also means that even if a wizard has equal affinity for Fire and Wind attributes, both affinities need to be very high.

Merely average affinity for different elements is meaningless; they need to all be very high.

This is also why Level 2 Elemental Mages generally only have a single attribute since possessing one high-affinity elemental talent is already very rare, let alone possessing multiple elemental talents simultaneously.

When Duke learned about this, he had some ideas in mind.

"In that case, for me, I can completely prepare Crystal Cores of six different attributes: Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, Light, and Darkness, and then condense the Spiritual Power Crystal. This way I can maximize my own advantages."

This is theoretically the optimal solution, and Duke, having such a variety of talents, naturally needs to make full use of this advantage.

If he indeed managed to condense a Spiritual Power Crystal containing six attributes, it would mean that after Duke advances to Level 2 Mage, he could Elementalize his body into any attribute at will.

This would directly eliminate the biggest drawback of Elemental Mages, which is the singularity of attributes.

Elemental Mages are very similar to elemental life forms, both having fatal weaknesses, and are too easily targeted.

Wizards, when capturing elemental life forms, will arrange means to counter elemental life forms, with a very high success rate.

For instance, targeting a Fire Elemental life form specifically, arranging a trap where a Fire Elemental life form cannot exert its strength would suffice.

The same goes for Elemental Mages; Elementalizing the body is indeed powerful, but also easily targeted.

If someone specifically targets an Elemental Mage, pre-arranging all sorts of measures against them, the Elemental Mage often has no good solutions.

Because the rival already knows their strongest methods, being targeted like this is almost like waiting for death.

Duke definitely intends to follow the path of an Elemental Mage, and to prepare for situations later on, he must pave the way during the condensation of the Spiritual Power Crystal.

So for him, when advancing to a Crystalized Wizard, he needs to prepare six different attribute Crystal Cores to have the theoretically strongest power.

However, these Crystal Cores are extremely rare, very difficult to obtain, and not something that can simply be bought with magic stones.

Crystal Core is merely a generic term, essentially consisting of various extremely rare treasures, casting materials, etc., and takes many forms.

For example, some rare and attribute-specific original energies, nurtured in nature or special environments, containing highly concentrated and pure elemental energy sources, generally possessing immense value.

The resources spent by wizards on Crystal Cores far exceed the resources needed for all previous advancements.
