How to Bring Common Sense to Xianxia World

Chapter 69: Special Broadcast - End & Interrogation

Dream Butterfly was a bit startled by the question, then confused, before she calmed herself down.

"I'll ask the matron for you. She should know," the courtesan said, then walked toward the matron who was busy calming the guests and apologizing to them.

When Dream Butterfly entered the scene, the guests immediately fell silent, mesmerized by her presence.

Seeing that the girl was handling her part, Wei Chen wrapped up the broadcast.

"Sorry, folks, I must apologize to all of you. As you can see in the broadcast, instead of having a nice time watching a concert… I mean, a performance, we ended up with this sh*tty situation." Wei Chen shrugged, then continued.

"I don't know if I'm just unlucky or cursed to keep running into accidents during my broadcasts. From what I remember, this is the second time something like this happened. The first time was when some idiot crashed the sect gate while I was having a talk with Vice Sect Leader Jian Heng." He said it with a joking tone, looking toward the camera.

At this moment, a phoenix made of fire flew past the broadcast screen, and the flames formed a seal with text on it.

Sword Dao Genius [Crimson Phoenix Seal]: [That idiot was an elder from Sacred Flame Valley, one of the representatives of the Vermilion Bird Province Martial Exchange group. His name is Elder Dog.]

Handsome Tall and Rich: [I don't know if you're trying to protect the guy's honor by correcting Wei Chen, or trying to shame him by paying and letting the guy's name hang at the top of the broadcast screen in a very noticeable position.]

Handsome Tall and Rich: [But something tells me it was the latter.]

Sword Dao Genius: [You're thinking too much. I was just trying to protect our foreign friend's honor.]

Handsome Tall and Rich: [...]

Seeing the banter in the chat section, Wei Chen couldn't help but smile. He then continued.

"That's it, folks. This is today's special broadcast. I'll try to make it up to you later. Tell me in the forum what you want for the next special broadcast."

"Also, before we wrap up, the special broadcast will only be available to those who own a U-Phone. And maybe… maybe in the future you'll see a lot more special broadcasts. Please stay tuned and follow our progress." Wei Chen said, then waved goodbye.

"Goodbye, folks. See ya!"

With those final words, the first special broadcast finally came to an end.

And at the same time, the matron sashayed toward him with Dream Butterfly following behind.

"This humble woman heard that the benefactor wanted a quiet place for interrogation," the matron said. Her seductive gaze and demeanor were like a sweet scent of honey that was hard to resist.

Especially the suspicious E-cup on her chest, with the mound partly hidden by the scanty clothing clearly designed to draw attention.

"Ahem… yes… right, ahem…" Wei Chen faked a few coughs before he managed to calm himself down. "Yes, if you have such a place, please lead the way."

The matron smiled sweetly before bowing humbly to Wei Chen.

"Please follow this humble woman, benefactor."

Wei Chen nodded, doing his best to keep his eyes from drifting toward the obvious two mounds.

….

In the basement of the Immortal Dream Tower, Wei Chen dragged the crippled man down the stairs with the matron leading him.

"This is the place, Benefactor. Is it to your liking?" the matron asked with a smile.

Wei Chen looked around and saw several straps, cages designed to restrain cultivators, ropes, chains, and whips. These were all instruments used to instill fear and obedience.

Seeing the room, Wei Chen didn't ask anything. He knew a place like this wasn't all sunshine and rainbows. There had to be a place meant to teach the "disobedient employees."

"Thank you very much, Matron," Wei Chen said his thanks.

The matron nodded and asked, "Do you want one of our professional interrogators to help you?"

Hearing this, Wei Chen smiled wryly. "There's no need, I can manage."

Wei Chen refused. What he was about to do wasn't something he could let others see, since it involved his secret.

"Then this humble woman will take her leave," the matron said with a seductive smile before she swayed toward the stairs and left.

Wei Chen couldn't help looking at her from behind. "Damn… now I know how those MILF lovers feel," he muttered under his breath.

After the matron left, Wei Chen quickly calmed himself down and checked the door to the upper floor. It was locked. He then turned toward the unconscious man and set him down on a pile of hay. Since the man had no limbs, he couldn't run away or escape.

Wei Chen then took out the broadcasting orb and checked his UGC balance. He looked at the transaction history and noticed that there was no deduction for accidentally killing those thirty people above. This meant those people had died after he had taken them down.

This could only mean someone had intentionally silenced them. He was sure their injuries were not severe enough to kill them. Their dantians were only cracked due to the backlash from the destroyed battle formation.

It wasn't the kind of injury that would cause someone to suddenly die like that.

After confirming everything was fine with his points, he closed the UI and contacted Youqi.

After the connection rang a few times, Youqi's beautiful face appeared on the screen.

"Yes, Mr. Wei. What do you need?" Youqi asked with her usual professional tone.

Wei Chen took out a killing license from the storage space within the broadcasting orb. The license was a small piece of paper sealed with red wax and a skull emblem. Some unintelligible characters that looked like ancient runes were written on it.

"Killing license for special underworld agent, used to gain clearance to kill one non-target obstacle. Tear it to gain one killing permit for 24 hours."

He showed the killing license to Youqi and asked, "When I use this and kill someone, er… this guy specifically." He moved the camera so Youqi could see the cripple on the ground, then continued.

"Where will his soul appear? Is he going straight to the Lord of Death's desk for judgement? Or will he appear somewhere else? Like… I don't know…" He shrugged. "Some special division like the underworld migrant division?" Wei Chen asked, unsure of how to phrase it.

Youqi thought for a moment before nodding. "Hmm… I am a little confused by your wording, but I think I understand. The soul of the one you kill after using a killing license will appear before my desk for special processing and registration," she answered.

Hearing this, Wei Chen let out a sigh of relief and smiled. Like any good employee, what he feared the most was upsetting his boss. Especially when your boss was a Lord of Death.

"That's good to hear," he said with relief, then asked, "Can I request a favor?"

"Huh? What kind of favor?" Youqi asked.

"This guy was one of the perps who caused me a headache in this place. I want to know who he was working for. Can you get the answer from him and tell me?" Wei Chen asked.

Hearing this, Youqi tilted her head. "It is easy, I can do that. But instead of wasting a killing license just for me to get the answer, why don't you interrogate him yourself?" She paused, then continued. "Honestly, you are the first one to ask me this. Your seniors never ask me to do this. They always interrogate prisoners themselves and they seem to enjoy it."

Hearing this, Wei Chen could not help smiling wryly. Did she mean people with surnames like Yun, Xiao, Li, Feng, or something like that?

"Unfortunately, I am not a psycho who enjoys torturing others. Just seeing those bloody instruments in the corner and thinking about how to use them already makes me want to puke," Wei Chen said.

"Is that so?" Youqi nodded. "Fine, send him to this side. I will get the answer for you. Also, this service is considered a special service for underworld agents, so I need to deduct 1,000 Underworld Gold Coins from your balance for this service. Is that alright?"

Hearing that his balance would be deducted, Wei Chen held out his hand. "Hold on, let me ask this guy nicely first."

Youqi rolled her eyes at him, then waited for Wei Chen to do his part.

Wei Chen then shook the man, trying to wake him up, but the man was still unconscious. He injected his spiritual qi to help him regain consciousness, since he guessed the guy must have lost a lot of blood.

After a few minutes, the man finally woke up. Pain assaulted him immediately and he winced as the agony from his severed limbs hit him.

"You… Who are you!?" the man asked.

He looked down at his own body and quickly realized he had been defeated by the man in front of him. He must have been dragged here for interrogation.

"Hmph, you better kill me. It is a waste of your time, I will not tell you anything," the tough guy said.
