I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!

Chapter 133: Perfectly Professional

Leo almost wiped a tear of happiness from his eye. "Skrax, you've outdone yourself. She's a natural-born bureaucrat. I haven't felt this ignored since I was applying for jobs."

He leaned against the bulletproof glass, staring at Elga.

"Before we get to the legal stuff, Elga, let's do a quick vibe check. Suppose a customer comes in, crying because they lost their life savings in a technical glitch at our bank, which was actually me buying a new yacht from their money. What is your immediate reaction?"

Elga didn't even look up from her blank ledger. "I offer them a complimentary box of tissues."

Leo nodded as this was genuinely a decent initial reaction. That's what a normal person would do, trying to calm the customers down. However, what Elga said next, stunned him.

"Then I charge them twenty credits for the Premium Comfort Service and inform them that crying in the lobby violates our Atmospheric Balance policy, resulting in a fine that happens to equal their savings that they lost."

"Do we even have an Atmospheric Balance Policy?" Leo asked, only for Skrax to shake his head.

"Not yet. We will have it when that technical glitch happens..." Elga answered.

Leo's eyes widened. "Diabolical. Impressive. Okay, next scenario. A man walks in with a suitcase full of credits that are clearly dripping with green slime. He says he wants to deposit it without any questions. What do you say?"

"I ask him if he'd like a Hazardous Material surcharge or if he'd prefer to open our 'No Questions Asked But We Keep The Change' Premium Account," she replied flatly.

"And I ask if the slime is toxic to insectoids, so I know whether to send him to Skrax's office."

Skrax let out a nervous click of his tongue, but Leo couldn't help but laugh.

This woman was clearly talking about taking out Skrax, and he couldn't even be sure if she was serious or not.

"Last one," Leo said, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "As you know, our bank policy is to give loans without collateral. The larger the loan, the better."

"Yeah, I heard about that crazy policy. However, it's your money, so it doesn't matter how bad this policy sounds," Elga answered, even as her words indirectly called Leo stupid.

"What would you do if your instincts are telling you that the customer can't return the loan. You know for sure that he will never return it. Will you approve it, or not?"

"Since it's a policy, I will not reject the loan. Everyone that comes to me, will get a loan," Elga answered.

This was the most important question for Leo. After all, it was to make sure that Elga didn't create any more unexpected troubles by misunderstanding his intentions like Picollo.

As she confirmed that the policy was of utmost importance, everything was settled. This woman... It was perfect.

She was perfect to make genuine customers cry tears of blood, and run away. That way, the bank wouldn't gain free money in the form of deposits.

At the same time, she would bleed his money in the form of loans. This was perfect for him.

"She's perfect. Give her a raise. But wait until she's worked here for ten years, then tell her the raise was lost in Section 8," Leo told Skrax.

Skrax's eyes lit up, only for him to be disappointed as Leo continued, "I was joking. Give her a proper raise. She has potential."

Beside Elga sat a massive, nine feet tall man who was currently using a combat knife to meticulously clean his fingernails, and a frail-looking elderly man who was organizing a stack of policy papers.

"And these two?" Leo asked, gesturing toward them.

"The big one is Grog," Skrax introduced. "He's our Conflict Resolution Specialist."

"His philosophy is that there can be no conflict if the customer is too unconscious to argue. And the gentleman next to him is Mr. Henderson. He used to manage a high-security prison. However, due to certain circumstances, he joined us."

Mr. Henderson looked up, his eyes gleaming with a cold light. However, he didn't say anything. For a moment, Leo even wondered if he was imagining things.

The tour continued, as Skrax escorted Leo across the other sections of the bank.

On the way, he kept telling Leo about the positions where security was going to be assigned, as well as special rooms that were being prepared.

In the end, he brought Leo to the core part of the back where the Vaults were established. At the moment, most of the faults were empty since no precious materials were kept there.

For now, almost all the funds of the bank were in the form of digital currency, especially since Leo hadn't finished transferring most of the money he had received from the auction house.

"So, are you satisfied with our work?"

At the end of the tour, Skrax asked Leo. Although he was a giant insectoid with multiple arms, looking very intimidating because of his physique, his eyes appeared quite innocent as if he couldn't even hurt a single fly in his life.

"I'm more than satisfied. You have worked really hard, and in some aspects, you surpassed my expectations. Keep up the good work, and your future is bright."

For now, Leo mainly had one person that he could consider the upper part of Alpha Corp. It was Picollo. But now, there was another person that had the potential if he didn't mess things around.

"By the way, I told you to ask around for that thing. Did you finish it?" Leo suddenly asked, remembering something.

"Ah, about your plans to establish a personal security agency of powerful people that are only loyal to you?" Skrax asked. "I... I did ask around, and most people said that it's too dangerous."

"Are you sure that you want to hire people from that place? Wouldn't it be much better to hire normal people that are not... crazy?" he asked, looking at Leo cautiously.

"If you want absolute loyalty, you can't always rely on normal people," Leo replied. "Sometimes, you need them to be a little crazy. And I heard quite a lot about that place, and the strength of people that stay there. Wouldn't they be perfect?"

"But they are all criminals, hiding from law in that lawless land!" Skrax said, but Leo didn't seem like he cared about that.
