I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!

Chapter 134: The Land of Criminals

Leo glanced at Skrax, but he didn't answer. He simply shook his head lightly.

What he wanted wasn't just a few guards that were powerful. After all, he wasn't trying to form a proper security agency in the first place.

The security agency was just a front. What he wanted was a team of highly specialised warriors that would follow his orders, and hold absolute loyalty.

They also needed to be capable of getting their hands dirty in the future. That's why he needed someone far from simple.

He had already considered a lot of possibilities, including training the new awakeners from scratch, but in the end, he decided to take a different route.

He was going to hire the people that had been abandoned by the world. Even if some of them betrayed him in the future, he could easily defend himself.

After all, those people were criminals, and their credibility in the eyes of the world was as good as gone. That was the biggest advantage of hiring people that were already tossed out by the world.

Although there were also a few risks involved, like their loyalty to him being questionable, he had a feeling that he could handle that

He was planning to recruit people that were most wanted by the universe. To protect themselves, they had hidden themselves in the chaotic lands, and the authorities didn't bother to enter that land.

He had already gathered as much information about those lands as he could. However, he still asked Skrax to ask around, to see if there was anything he could learn which wasn't in the database.

"But if you still want to follow through, then I do have a person who can guide you through the Chaotic Lands. However, it would take a long time to even contact them, let alone arrange a meeting. Are you fine with that?" Skrax asked, only for Leo to nod.

"Don't worry. I have plenty of time," Leo said, especially since he wasn't in a hurry for now. There was still a lot of preparation needed.

"Keep up the good work." He patted Skrax's shoulder before leaving.

On the way back to the ship, he used the encrypted device of the Galactic Union to contact Viserl, and ask him if there were any sightings of a Necropolis Ship by any chance.

Viserl was sitting in his office when he received Leo's message. He was already drowning in paperwork with all the new information coming in, regarding various events of the galaxy.

He was holding his head, as he looked at the message.

"This man... After the commotion he caused last time, should I still stay in contact with him? After all, he has basically turned the other two ancient houses into an enemy?"

Viserl was even wondering if he should even reply to Leo's message.

After all, siding with the stronger side was always better. And at the moment, the two ancient houses looked to be united against Necropolis, especially after the kidnapping.

Even the other leaders of the Galactic Union were putting pressure on him to make a declaration about this conflict as the Galactic Union Leader, and select a side.

It was also because most of the Planets didn't have a favorable opinion of Necropolis. But only were the beings of Necropolis, undead, which made the leaders innately look down on them, but they were also overbearing.

"Wasn't he on the ship that he is asking about? Why would he even need me to find his own ship? It can't be that he lost the ship, right? He can't be that... irresponsible, right?"

A Necropolis Ship, without the owner... If it fell into the wrong hands, how much conflict could it cause? He didn't even want to think about it.

"Also... Does he even have time to worry about the ship with all that is happening? Unless... he doesn't even know about it?"

Viserl's lips started twitching, as he picked up the device and fired a message back.

"You aren't in Necropolis, are you?" he asked.

Meanwhile, Leo raised a brow. "How does he know about it? Is he tracking me?"

For a moment, he even wondered if this device was being used to track him, but he quickly shook the thought off. After all, he had already verified that this device couldn't be tracked.

"I am outside for the moment. Why?" he wrote a reply.

"Because it looks like you don't know what is happening around Necropolis. If you did, you wouldn't be asking about a ship."

"What is happening around Necropolis?" Leo asked, his expressions growing slightly conflicting.

"Necropolis is already surrounded by the forces of the other two Ancient Houses. The two Monarchs are said to be personally leading the forces, waiting for the Nephilim's Prince to be handed back as the deadline is long over."

Leo read the reply that came, his expressions twisting a little.

That was right! He had completely forgotten about it. The ship wasn't meant to be his biggest worry, but the fact that the ship was carrying the kidnapped prince.

They were supposed to release the prince after a week, but a longer time had passed. It made complete sense that the other two houses came to get an answer from Necropolis.

"I... It looks like I can't show my face around Necropolis anytime soon."

Necropolis knew that the ship was under his control. So it was also clear that he had kidnapped Nephilim Prince, using the Necropolis name.

Normally, he could have explained it with Kaelus's presence. After all, he was trying to save Voldred's son, and there was no other choice.

Unfortunately, he neither had Kaelus, nor the Nephilim Prince, nor the Necropolis Ship. He had basically lost all three crucial things needed for explanation.

Necropolis didn't have it better either. They were accused of kidnapping a prince, and the representatives of the entire universe saw it. This wasn't something that could be buried under the carpet as a misunderstanding.

If anything, the authorities of Necropolis didn't even know what had happened. Leo could only imagine how confused they must be right now.

And just as he thought, confused they were.

Ossius and Malakor were handling things in the absence of Voldred. Normally, they could handle almost everything without worries, but at the moment, two people were standing before them.
