I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!

Chapter 136: Stealing Client

The Lionel Family's situation had become a talking point of the entire space sector.

Many of the Lionel Family's competitors had even started laughing at them. The careful image that they had built up for thousands of years as the Overlord of the space sector was slowly starting to fall apart.

"Why is this unknown terror organization targeting us? And how is it possible that we don't have a single clue about their identity yet?"

The Patriarch of the Lionel Family slammed his head on the table, which made almost every other family member present in the meeting tremble.

He had been trying to find anything about the culprit, but so far, there were no traces.

The only person who even knew about Leo being responsible for it, was Fiona. Even though she was in this meeting, she didn't tell anyone about Leo for some reason.

"The Galactic Union representative is arriving tomorrow," a family member said, trying to ignore the fact that his eye was twitching. "They'll find them! No one can hide from the Union's forensic psychics."

The Patriarch of the Lionel Family clenched his fist. "To think that our family will have to rely on external help. How far have we fallen?"

He took a deep breath, and then said out loud. "I have made up my mind! This will be an opportunity to see if you're capable of leading the family in the future!"

"The person who can solve this mess in the most satisfying manner, will become the next Head of the Lionel Family! If no one is competent enough to do that, I might as well let this family burn!"

The old man was already furious. He had made this family reach this level of influence through his blood sweat and tears. Only he knew how many times he had to get his hands dirty for this.

Now, an unknown organisation dared to threaten everything? If these people shouldn't even solve this problem on their own, then it was only a matter of time before this family fell apart.

The old man didn't stay behind to hear any objections. He turned around and left, after leaving this opportunity for his future heir.

With that, many core members of the Lionel Family started looking greedy. This was an opportunity for them!

With this, they didn't have to rely on their past achievements. They weren't burdened by their past failures. In a single step, they could cover the gap between them and the throne of the family.

"I just remembered, I have to do something."

"I should also leave. My family is waiting for me."

One after another, the members of the Lionel Family started leaving, including the man who was the eldest son of the family, and also the one who was said to be most likely to lead the family.

The young man had always been treated like an heir of the family, but in recent years, with the rise of Fiona, even he had grown a little nervous about his position.

This time, he couldn't let her have an opportunity to get ahead of him.

The only person who was left behind in the meeting room was Fiona.

She looked at the empty seat where the Lionel Family's patriarch was sitting previously.

"It looks like it was right to not tell them about that man. Just as I thought, when the damages pile on, and they become desperate, it would be the opportunity to raise my influence."

She slowly stood up. Although she had also lost a lot due to Leo, in the moment, she was thanking him.

Although unintentionally, she believed that he had helped her in the long run. Although she had lost most of her net worth, if she managed to take the throne of the family, it was all worth it.

Moreover, she was already in the lead since she already knew the person responsible. She knew where to start. All she had to do was establish a credible link between Leo and all these incidents.

....

Meanwhile, on Glitzy's ship, Leo was currently looking at a holographic projection of his newly finished building.

It was a magnificent structure shaped like an upside-down funnel symbolizing, in Leo's mind, money flowing out as fast as possible.

"It's beautiful," Leo mumbled. "The most inefficient bank in the history of the galaxy."

He had already sent an invitation to the potential clients, offering them pre-approved loans.

Moreover, most of the customers that he had contacted, were those that had taken a loan from the Lionel Family.

They were the Lionel Family's biggest backing as well. And Leo was certain that he was going to steal them.

Although it looked a little suspicious to get a loan from a bank that was just established, the people that were invited were all powerful in their own rights.

These people were confident in themselves, and didn't believe that a mere new bank was going to scam them. Moreover, how can they even be scammed when there was no collateral requirement.

That's why, even though it was a new bank, most of the people that were invited started paying attention to it.

Some of them even replied back, to verify if the offer was real. And after confirmation, they arranged a meeting to check things personally.

Leo had thought that stealing clients was going to be the hardest part of the entire plan. But to his surprise, it turned out to be the easiest part.

In this industry, there was loyalty, but more than that, there was profit that people looked for.

It didn't matter how long these people had supported the Lionel Family. But if they received better conditions elsewhere that they could use to pay Lionel Family and get their collateral back, then everyone was willing.

The bank had barely opened officially after the completed constructions, yet the powerhouses from the space sector and beyond had already started arriving for a meeting.

Leo didn't personally meet them. He sent Skrax to deal with them as his training. However, he didn't take the risk like last time.

Although he didn't attend the meeting personally, he still observed them secretly, and only after ensuring that Skrax was following all instructions properly, he relaxed a little.
