"I know that we don't have the authority to keep our prisoners there. But don't worry everything has been arranged. They will gladly take this prisoner."
"But... He hasn't even gone through a proper hearing," Henderson stated. "What will we tell others? He is extremely popular nowadays after all? It would blow all over us."
"Hmph, why would we have to offer any explanation? We can come up with thousands of excuses. Maybe I'll tell them that this criminal managed to run away?" Vex grinned. "After all, it's not as if this ship has any cameras."
"Ah... Is that why you selected this ship which was still waiting for repair and upgrade? You planned this before we even arrested him?" Henderson asked in disbelief.
Even though Vex didn't answer, everything became clear. They were truly crushing Leo, and it wasn't an independent investigation.
Unfortunately for Leo, Henderson didn't really care about morality. Although he felt bad about Leo, and was a little nervous about the outcome of messing with such a popular person, he still followed Vex.
"Don't worry. After I'm done with him, I won't let you be disappointed either. You'll also be filthy rich with me. So just keep doing your work properly..."
Three hours later, the ship broke through the thick dark clouds of the nightmare planet called Obsidian 67.
The planet was filled with volcanic rock, where many volcanoes were active, and the sight of them throwing out lava was a common sight.
On the entire planet, there were no civilians. There were no trade ships coming here. In fact, only military ships could be seen here, especially when they were escorting their fiercest war criminals.
The planet didn't belong to one empire. It was a neutral territory where everyone could send their prisoners.
Since time immemorial, the 'criminals' have only managed to enter the planet, but not a single one has managed to leave.
Let alone being granted freedom, they were completely erased from the system with no one even knowing the names, the danger level, or even the origin of the criminals in the prison planet.
The guards here didn't wear the clean auditor uniforms; they wore matte-black tactical gear.
As soon as the ship landed before the massive black prison structure, the gates opened.
Vex tossed out Leo, before following from behind.
"Is this the one?" The Prison Guards asked.
Vex only had to nod before the guards took control without any other questions. They took Leo by the arms, their grip far less polite than Vex's team.
Vex watched as they marched Leo toward the intake elevator. For a moment, the bureaucrat felt a surge of triumph. From now on, Leo's name was forever going to disappear.
He was going to be known as someone that ran away before interrogation, and lived his life in hiding somewhere.
Although a few people were going to question this story, and suspect them, what could they even do without any evidence?
The heavy sound of the elevator moving was like a blade dropping. As the platform descended into the underground lower of the prison, the temperature rose, and the air began to smell strange.
Vex stood at the edge of the ship, looking down at Leo with a sneer that finally felt safe. "Enjoy the silence, Leo. No cameras, no fans, no fluffy dogs. Just the prison cells and the dark."
"If there's ever a next life, better choose your enemies carefully."
Vex turned around, and went back inside the ship. The doors of the ship closed, and within seconds, the ship had disappeared into the distance.
The elevator hit the bottom with a heavy thud. A massive, scarred man in powered armor stepped forward.
He was the Warden of Obsidian 67. He didn't have a name, only a serial number etched into his chest plate... Unit 001.
"Transfer?" the Warden asked, his voice hoarse.
"Precisely," the prison guard said.
The Warden grabbed Leo's arm. The grip was enough to crush steel, but Leo didn't even flinch.
Instead, Leo leaned in and whispered something to the Warden.
....
While Leo was being processed into the non-existent prison, Vex's ship was high above the clouds, piercing the atmosphere of Obsidian 67.
Vex was singing a tune, tapping his fingers on a luxury bottle of wine he'd been saving for this very moment.
"Henderson! Open the secure channel to Lionel," Vex called out. "Tell them the asset has been liquidated. I want my transfer initiated immediately."
Henderson didn't respond. He was staring at the main console, his hands hovering over the keys but not pressing them.
"Henderson?" Vex snapped.
"Sir... the channel won't open," Henderson whispered. "Actually, nothing will open. The ship's link just turned red."
"What? Check the connection!"
"It's not the connection, sir." Henderson turned around, his face the color of ash. "All the accounts linked to the Audit Bureau are being frozen. There's a 'Security Lock' placed on every credit chip in our names."
Vex jumped up, spilling his wine. "That's impossible! I'm the one who issues the locks!"
"Not this one," Henderson said, pointing to the screen. It looks like we have been... hacked! Look at this message left by the hacker!"
Vex quickly stood up, and checked the message, his blood almost boiling at the sight.
"Your account has been paused for a 'Wholesome Review.' Estimated wait time: Forever."
"These bastards, do they know what they are doing? I will make their lives hell for messing with our systems."
"Won't we first have to find them? But for that, won't we first need to be able to use our systems?" Henderson looked like he was really at a loss.
Their systems were supposed to be the most secure in the system since they dealt with money and financial regulations.
Even the regulators of the Galactic Union praised their security. So how could they be hacked so easily?
Didn't it mean that amongst Leo's fans, there was a hacker that couldn't even surpass their systems?
For some reason, he didn't feel like this was the end of it. Deep down, a bad feeling started rising in his heart like they might have messed with the wrong person.
