I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!

Chapter 149: Robbing the Prison

The shield of the planet had started flickering already. A few more attacks, and it would've shattered.

However, at that moment, no ship attacked anymore. It was as if all of them had come to the same understanding that they weren't going to attack.

Strangely enough, not only did they not attack, but most of the Overlords slowly turned around, and the massive fleets of war ships started leaving.

Even Blaze was looking at a message, strangely as he ordered to turn around. He was really confused, and wanted to rush to the planet to save Leo, but the message was something that he couldn't ignore.

After all, the message came from Leo himself. He was telling them to leave, as he had everything in his control now.

Leo only wanted to use them as a distraction, and to cause a mess. And now that it was over, he didn't need them anymore.

He didn't want even a single one of them to actually step on this planet to find the prisoners.

Although Blaze was also curious about this mysterious prison, he decided to listen to Leo and ordered everyone to turn around.

Once everyone left, only one ship was left behind. It belonged to Leo's bank, which was being commanded by the Deputy Manager of the Bank.

It wasn't a warship, so it was hiding in the back during the attacks. It was simply a transport ship, which made it slower, yet much larger than most of the ships.

Once all the ships left, the defensive fields of the prison were turned off, and the Bank's ship was allowed to pass through, and land right before the prison.

Only after the ship passed through, were the defences activated again.

....

"That should handle the mess," Meanwhile, Leo was sitting on what looked like a throne, facing the screens that revealed the status of the explosive collars.

It was much easier to take control of the command center than he had expected.

The abilities of the prisoners had really surprised him, as they surpassed his expectations. These were exactly the kind of people he was looking for.

What truly amused him was the fact that these were simply the prisoners of the highest prisoner floor. What about the people that were on the lower floors?

If he could win them over, then his path to success was going to be much easier.

The best part of this entire thing was that no one knew that the prison was taken over. In fact, even the masters of the prison didn't know, as the message couldn't be sent because of communication being down.

If anyone had even a clue, that would be the Warlords that he asked for help, but Leo had a feeling that they weren't going to leak it.

After all, even they would know that if a prison like this could run, the master of this prison would be dangerous. Even they wouldn't want to let anyone know that they attacked this place.

That's why the first thing they did was to take external communications down. It was only after Leo convinced them that he had killed everyone in the prison, that they were able to leave.

It was a subtle trust. They believed him, and didn't bother to check the prison personally. He also trusted them, and didn't feel that they would leak this and hit their own head.

Because of that, the prison had effectively changed hands, without even the slightest of leak.

The people who owned the prison were still thinking that everything was normal. And most of the people from the universe were still unaware about its existence.

Leo had effectively become the Warden of this prison, like it was a hostile takeover.

"Is there anyone who knows how to deal with high technology? Or should I call outsiders for help in retrieving data?" Leo asked, looking back at the hall which had a few blood stains, but besides that, it looked completely empty.

All the bodies were already dragged out after all.

"I know how to do it! My father taught me when I was young!"

A prisoner called out, being one of the few that had selected a professional coat and pant attire.

He stepped inside the room, and started playing around with the keys.

"If we go from here to here, and write this command... And then we use this external drive, then with just a few clicks..." he said, talking to himself.

"Oh wait, there are a few encrypted drives. I can clone the rest of the data right away, but to decrypt the files, it would take longer..."

"How many months are we looking at?" Leo asked, hearing the man talk about technicalities.

"Months? It should take a few days at most. It's because we are using the systems that are verified by the data. If we were trying to decrypt them in another system, it would've been near impossible without destroying the drive."

"You can take your time. I want every single line of data that's kept here, without any loss."

Leo placed his hand on the armrest and stood up, letting the young-looking man take a seat, even though Leo was certain that he would be much older than him.

The lockdown on the prison was already removed, and the locks were removed. The lifts had started working normally, and everything was returning to how it used to be.

The only difference was that no guard was left to handle the prison. It was completely being managed by the prisoners under his control.

Leo didn't really plan to keep the prison. In fact, he was already planning something for this prison, not before that, he had to win the prisoners of the lower floors.

Unlike those in the higher floors, he couldn't feel those that were stronger, especially since most of them wouldn't be scared of death, or even his aura.

He wasn't even sure as some of them might actually be from high planets or even the ancients, no matter how unlikely.

So he had to take a different route. He couldn't control them with just the allure of freedom. He had to do something beyond that.

But before that, he had to handle his deputy manager.

He entered the lift, and went to the surface of the planet, where the giant deputy manager was waiting for him, looking around nervously.

"You... You are really fine!" The giant deputy manager immediately rushed to Leo, and wrapped his four arms around Leo, hugging him so tightly that Leo felt like his bones might get crushed if it went on longer.

"You bastard, are you trying to kill me to take over my position?" Leo almost slapped the back of his deputy manager's hand before he was eventually freed.

"N-n-never!"

"That's enough. How's the bank doing?"

"It's running normally. Surprisingly, the authorities haven't sealed the bank. Probably because of the outrage..."

"That's good. Let the bank work as it's doing. I have another job for you. Can you find someone who can... Break things and recycle them?"

"Break things and recycle them?"

Leo didn't answer right away. He pointed behind him at the massive prison structure.

"I'm planning to make something new. Probably a little expansion of my company, but not on this planet. So wouldn't it be easier to recycle the materials?"

"You... You're planning to dismantle this place and take everything?" The Deputy Manager looked at the massive structure that was visible from beyond the space.

"Do you even own this place? Or are we simply steal-"

He couldn't even imagine how massive it was going to be under ground.

"Let's just say, I'm borrowing the things, without telling the original owner. In any case, I don't think they would be needing it anymore. So can you handle it, while keeping it a secret?"

"I do have a few trustworthy people, but are you certain?"

"Contact them... Let's rob this place dry... I mean, let's borrow properly."
