Tribal Sign-In: Immortal At The Start

Chapter 158: Father's Limit Paradox.

Rion's sandals scraped the ground as he climbed the jagged mountain and made his way to Haden.

"Why did he call me?" He mumbled under his breath, a frown marring his rather handsome face.

"Is it to teach me the Azure Ascending spear?" He questioned himself and shook his head.

"No, he won't teach it to me until I have flawless control over all of my abilities..." he whispered, and his eyes fell on Haden's scarred back.

Haden, as usual, stood staring at the south.

Sensing that Rion had reached him, he said, "I had learned the Azure Ascending spear from a spearman of the east. He said he had made it by watching a play of a serpent transforming into an imoogi and then ascending as a dragon."

'That sounds familiar...' Rion remarked inwardly.

"Yet his spear was different from mine." Haden turned towards Rion and asked, "Why?"

'Heh. Ain't this the most basic question the eccentric of the cultivation world asks before imparting a technique?' Rion chuckled inwardly.

He imitated a profoundly thoughtful look for a few moments and answered calmly, "Because you see the spear and that serpent differently."

Haden's lips arched up slightly, he nodded and said, "Yes. According to him, it was the serpent's destiny to transcend and become a dragon, but for me, it was his actions that built his destiny. "

He stepped closer to Rion. "It didn't do any wrongdoings, thus the Celestia accepted its transcendence, but if it had done any wrongdoings, the Celestia would have punished it."

'Hmm... that also sounds familiar,' Rion noted.

All of a sudden, Haden frowned and muttered bitterly, "But humans do not transcend. We have a limit that cannot be crossed... The Remnant exists beyond that limit."

"What?!" Rion's eyes went wide, and he stammered, "How is that possible?! Wouldn't they have already killed us then?"

Haden chuckled, pointed towards the south and said, "The Remnant's goal is to find the perfect clothing to take their revenge..." he pointed at himself and added, "We are godbloods, where else would they find it, if not here?"

Understanding dawned on Rion, and he asked, "Why not take control over a dragon instead? They are inherently stronger than us, no?"

"They are." Haden nodded, his lips formed a smile, and he said, "But finding a dragon is nearly impossible. Your mother must have already told you that we do not know where the giants and the dragons are."

"Didn't a dragon come to stop the dark king...? Why didn't they take control of its body?"

Haden's eyes darkened for a moment, and he said, "That dragon was a pet."

Rion's eyes widened as much as they could; his mouth fell agape and nearly touched the ground.

He opened and closed his lips a few times before he managed to whisper, "...A pet?"

Haden nodded. "It was tasked to obtain the dark phantom gauntlets."

Rion fell silent for a few moments and muttered, "But why?"

Haden sighed, shook his head and said, "I do not know."

Rion nodded, looked into Haden's eyes and thought, 'Would he tell me if I asked whose pet it was?'

His lips parted, and Haden said, "I cannot tell you."

Haden closed the distance between them, placed a hand on his shoulder and said evenly, "Even if I wish to tell you, I won't be able to."

Confused, Rion mumbled with a tilted head, "What do you mean...?"

Haden's lips parted, and he spoke something, but Rion was unable to hear him.

Both furrowed their brows at the same instant.

"Did you say something?" Rion asked.

"How are you fine?" Haden replied in confusion.

"Huh?" Rion blinked and said with a dumbfounded look. "I didn't hear anything."

Haden pressed his lips into a thin line. 'He wasn't even able to hear their names...? That's a first...'

Rion stared back at him with a puzzled expression. 'Why is he looking at me like that?'

Suddenly, a red screen flickered before his eyes.

[Warning! Haden, Sovereign of Crimson Army, has tried to make you aware of the Paradox!]

'Huh?! Sovereign of what?'

Blue screens followed.

[Searching for a solution...!]

[Found two solutions!]

[Solution A — Make all of the physical and non-physical senses ignore the Paradox!]

[Solution B — Activate the titles!]

[Select the solution (Solution A is in effect by default)!]

Confusion flickered across his eyes.

'What Paradox? What title... ah! The things that I saw in stability mode?'

His eyes stayed fixed on the screen for a few moments before he commanded, 'Solution B.'

[You have selected solution B!]

[Requirement for the solution to take effect: Sign in at a total of ten locations!]

'Ten huh... I need to sign in at one more location for this solution to work,' he mumbled inwardly, and Haden's worried voice pulled his attention.

"Rion?"

Rion ignored the screens, looked at Haden and asked with a frown, "So there is no way for us to defeat The Remnant?"

Haden shook his head, pressed his finger at Rion's heart and stated, "You are the only way. You have to find the answer to defeat or free them."

Rion's expression hardened, and seeing that, Haden mumbled, "As a father, I do not wish to burden you, but as the Sovereign, I must think for the whole tribe."

Rion lowered his head, bit his lower lip and said weakly, "I know... Father."

Haden patted his shoulder with a clenched jaw.

'I am pathetic,' he mumbled inwardly.

Haden was strong, strongest even, but his insane amount of aura and his physical strength weren't enough to combat the cockroach-like nature of The Remnant, and because of the second curse placed on Dhaevrak, he couldn't kill them.

The Remnant knew that as well, yet they still wanted to take over Rion's body.

'It must be because of his bloodline ability,' Haden concluded.

A few moments passed in silence, and he said, "You have already mastered your techniques as much as you could..."

Rion lifted his head, looked at him with a puzzled expression and asked, "What about my bloodline ability?"

"I've been keeping an eye on you, and I have a feeling that your ability isn't even complete," Haden stated.
