Tribal Sign-In: Immortal At The Start

Chapter 177: Dhaevrak Vs The Remnant [13]

A tremor spread outwards from the strange circle.

Just as that happened, Rion quickly connected the dots.

He instantly dashed over to the circle, his knees hit the ground, and he dragged his fingertips across the edge of the circle.

"Is this a seal?" Rion questioned himself.

Many of the fantasy elements that he had read and watched in his past life were realities in his current one, and one of those elements was seals.

Seals, as the name suggests, it allowed the invoker to trap an entity for either a specific amount of time or forever.

And seeing the strange circle and how the tremors were originating from it, Rion concluded that this circle was a seal that trapped Haden.

However, before he could even try to break the seal, the Remnant stood and sent a slash cleaving towards him.

Golden aura coiled around Rion's body like ribbons woven from pure light. He took his spear out of his inventory and thrust at the incoming slash, his eyes turning red because of the Predator's Eyes.

Similar to before, the slash cracked and burst apart into purple sparks and miasma, but The Remnant was now aware of Rion's ability to locate weak spots in his attacks, and as he was unable to enhance the quality of his attacks, he decided to increase the quantity of them.

Leaping down into the crater, he dashed toward Rion and swung his katana innumerable times.

Meanwhile, Rion forced his Zone to concentrate on the seal while his gaze remained locked on the countless slashes racing toward him.

The air glimmered purple as it became saturated with streaking blades of energy.

He jumped over the one that was aimed at his legs, dug his spear in the ground and pulled himself down to dodge the one aiming for his head.

Spun around the spear, pulled it out of the ground and struck the three that he had no way to dodge.

Ducked to dodge the one coming for his head.

Threw his spear at the slashes whose critical points overlapped each other, but because of that, he was left incapable of dodging the one aimed at his head after he leapt over the one that was to sever his legs. Just as it was about to reach his head, Rion spun mid-air and called it back towards him.

The spear streaked through the slashes, purple sparks flaring behind it like fireworks, and finally halted in Rion's grasp.

Rion's gaze never wavered from the storm of slashes, his mind devoid of all thoughts except the seal as he entered Weapon Sense, no longer needing to consciously think during battle.

He carved through the final few strikes, the golden aura surged up to the tip of his lunging serpent spear, and he drove it forward.

AZURE ASCENDING SPEAR — SERPENT'S BITE!

The aura contorted into the shape of a colossal golden serpent with its jaws wide open. The moment The Remnant appeared before him, the jaws snapped shut as The Remnant slashed sideways, purple chains erupting from his blade to bind the serpent's fangs.

Both covered themselves with layers of solidified energy.

Radiance erupted as the two weapons collided. The world went silent for a heartbeat, only to quake violently in the next.

An explosion shot outwards from the collision of Rion's Will and The Remnant's Chaos, but Rion was the one to take the full brunt of it. The Remnant's attack simply had more power, and it caused the whole of the explosion to be redirected at Rion.

The explosion enveloped Rion, the flames licked his body like a starving beast, his skin burned within moments, his flesh charred, his eye sockets empty, and anything physical of him no longer looked like him.

From the blaze emerged a skeleton with burned remnants clinging to its frame. Its jaw creaked open and rattled loudly, yet no sound escaped.

As Rion continued his steps, golden marks appeared all over his bones, flesh and veins appeared out of nowhere and began to stitch across his remaining figure.

Just a few steps after, Rion was whole again, his bare body glowing under the radiance of golden marks spreading across him, and strangely, he appeared stronger than before; it was as if the flames had reformed his body into something even greater.

The Remnant clicked his tongue, dashed at Rion and spat, "You damned cockroach!!"

Rion, still surveying his surroundings in a dazed state, suddenly murmured, "Spear."

His weapon, which had fallen from his grip, quivered and shot toward him.

As the spear reached him, so did The Remnant.

The Remnant's katana split the air as it swept toward Rion's neck, but just as it was about to decapitate him.

Rion's eyes shifted to The Remnant. He opened his mouth, twisted his head toward him, and clamped his teeth onto the blade of the dark katana as the spear landed in his hand.

Having trained Beast's Fangs for months, Rion was confident of its capabilities, and his confidence was proven right.

Cracks spread across the blade, and it shattered, yet at the same time, Rion's head exploded into fragments.

However, Rion already knew that it would happen, so he had already thrust forward.

The Remnant stood wide-eyed, Rion's head regenerated itself, and his spear pierced through the centre of The Remnant's chest.

Rion flooded his aura inside The Remnant, knowing well that it could fight against the chaotic nature of demonic energy.

The Remnant slid down the shaft of the spear and forced himself close to Rion, hurling punches at him.

Rion dodged those he could and blocked the rest with his free hand, but he never released his grip on the spear and never ceased flooding The Remnant with his aura.

Random hisses escaped The Remnant's body, and to Rion, they sounded no different from a sweet melody.

"Die, you wretch! Let the world forget you forever." Rion spat, his fist crashing into The Remnant's skull.

Within The Remnant, the two opposing forces were locked in relentless combat.

Demonic energy was chaos, and Aura was Will — not Order — so they could never be harmonised.

The only way for the conflict to end was for one to be extinguished, yet energy could neither be created nor destroyed — it was a war between two immortals.
