As Rion's aura ravaged the insides of The Remnant's body, cracks appeared across it.
From those cracks seeped out a bright purple light that seemed to devour everything else.
It was the radiance of the Corrupted Abysmal Flame that was the root of everything that the Dhaevrak had been through.
It was also the anchor that was keeping The Remnant awake from his slumber.
The Remnant was the chain that bound the Dhaevrak, but at the same time, he was bound to the flame that was born from the hunger of a dark monster that simply could not give up.
Rion had watched that dark monster; thus, he knew what the Abysmal Flame was capable of. He always desired control over the purple, and after seeing the power of the entity that birthed the purple, he wanted it even more.
The Remnant's body quivered violently as the golden aura and purple miasma fought against each other.
His entire focus shifted to blocking any more of Rion's aura from entering his body, and his punches slowed down before they halted completely.
Rion took advantage of the opening, his aura coiling at the tips of his fingers as though his hand had become a blade, and he drove his hand straight into The Remnant's chest.
The Remnant's expression twisted into great annoyance. Clenching his fist, he struck Rion right under his chin.
Rion's head shot backwards, his jaw hanging low, and with a wet click, bone snapped back into the socket.
Rion moved his jaw a few times, glanced at The Remnant, and a chuckle left him upon seeing The Remnant's face contort into anger.
"Are you mad?" He asked earnestly, though the corners of his lips curved into a smirk.
"You'll pay the price of your actions!" The Remnant snarled and hurled another punch at Rion's right ribs.
Just like before, his ribs groaned and broke under The Remnant's might, only for them to be healed right after.
Again and again, The Remnant broke him apart, and the Immortal Body reconstructed him, each rebirth stronger than the last. Every tendon carried greater power, and every bone hardened further.
Rion let him destroy and rebuild his body as he felt no pain from such attacks. The Remnant wasn't using the demonic energy or the purple flame, so his attacks were just his pure physical might, and his body was adapting to it.
From the very beginning of their battle, The Remnant had used more energy on Rion than he had used on Haden.
The reason was simple: Haden was strong... nearly on par with his current strength, so no matter how deadly the attacks he used, Haden would have the capability to block them.
That was why he had done everything in his power to seal him as fast as he could.
However, Rion couldn't block his attacks, or at least that was how it was supposed to be, but the Predator's Eyes became the critical point that allowed Rion to see beyond the surface of his dreadful attacks.
He forced his hand deeper into The Remnant's body, and moments later, his fingers brushed against something hard, like forged iron. He explored it with his touch and felt the locks.
"Found you." His eyes gleamed.
It was the chain that sealed the Corrupted Abysmal Flame — it was The Remnant's true body.
He curled his fingers around the chain, a grin spreading across his face, and pulled with all his strength.
The chain groaned in protest but did not move from its place.
Rion's grin wavered. He tried to wrench it free with everything he had, but nothing changed — the chain remained unmoved.
Seeing Rion's ludicrous attempt, the Remnant sneered. "Let alone you, not even your father can break through my singularity."
Just as Rion heard those words, his lips parted, and he said under his breath, "Singularity..."
He looked straight into The Remnant's eyes and demanded while pouring more of his aura inside him. "Tell me. What is a singularity?"
The Remnant grinned, held onto Rion's shoulders and said, "Give me your body, and I'll tell you."
Rion didn't react; he had expected him not to say anything, but now that he knew that The Remnant had answers, he asked the most important one.
"What is the Paradox?"
The Remnant tilted his head, confusion clearly passing through his gaze as he asked, "What did you just say?"
Rion frowned and repeated, "What is the Paradox...?"
The Remnant's expression darkened, and he suddenly drove a punch into Rion's side.
Rion caught the blow beneath his arm and muttered in his mind, 'Can he not hear Paradox like how I couldn't hear about them?'
It was strange considering that The Remnant was one of the universe's oldest beings, but for now, he threw away all of his thoughts and tried a different method to free the Corrupted Abysmal Flame from The Remnant's control.
He drew a deep breath, locked eyes with The Remnant, and said, "Break."
A golden radiance brighter than his aura burst from his back as the mark of wings unfolded and the Absolute Will was awakened.
He felt his words transform into something beyond sound... it was as though he had shaped the very concept of breaking.
He seized it and tried to guide it toward the chains, but his control slipped the moment doubt crept into his thoughts.
'Can I do this?'
He tried again.
'Would this work?' He failed once more.
He tried again.
'This...?' He failed yet again.
But he did not stop.
Meanwhile, The Remnant struggled to calm down both the demonic energy clashing with the golden aura and the purple flame that was devouring it.
If he only had to control demonic energy, he would have already succeeded.
But the actual issue was the purple flame, he didn't have complete control over it, and every time it devoured Rion's aura, more of it was produced for him to control, and it was beginning to get difficult.
His plans and body were falling apart; he was about to lose... not the war but control.
