As the bead flew towards Dora.

Rion's mind churned with all of its capability for any method he could use to save her.

His thoughts became so fast that the world around him slowed down, and countless possible methods appeared and disappeared from his mind.

His body was too tired after everything he had done.

First, he had fought against the monsters for a few hours, then he had battled The Remnant for nearly the same amount of time, and afterwards, he had used Absolute Will beyond what he should've been able to.

And because of all this, even his immortal body was finding it hard to keep his fatigue in check.

Unlike before, he didn't have the aura or the soothing sensation of assimilation to keep his fatigue in check, and he was only able to keep his eyes open out of sheer will.

As he pondered over the possibilities most required aura or some other kind of energy that he could use to move his body.

His expressions darkened even further, fear flickered in them like a blinding star, and he mumbled inwardly, 'Faster! I must think even faster!'

Even though his thoughts were much faster from the bead of pure demonic energy, it was still moving at a blinding speed, and as if to laugh at his failed attempt at finding the answer, a loud clang echoed throughout the battlefield, and Dora was slammed into the ground by the impact of the bead.

Rion's expression twisted into horror, his eyes darkening with dread, and a chilling scream tore through the battlefield.

"Dora?!"

"Lady Dora!!"

The warriors rushed towards her with worried expressions, and Rion watched the demonic energy spread through her like a virus.

Seeing her quiver, his mind froze. Suddenly, he mumbled, "Demonic energy..."

Hope flickered in his eyes, and he called out inwardly, 'Inventory...'

The inventory screen flickered before his eyes, and in the seventh slot of it was a dark crystal with purple and white vines all over it.

He focused on it, and another tab appeared beside the inventory.

Demonic Heart

Description: A heart created by a mother for her son.

Effect: Generate demonic energy.

Singularity: Absolute Seal.

[Assimilate?]

[Yes / No]

Seeing that he could now assimilate with the Demonic Heart, the flame of hope blazed even brighter, and he responded desperately, "Y-Yes!!!"

Another screen appeared before him.

[Assimilating...]

His eyes stayed focused on both the screen and Dora, his body trembling to move.

His vision spun, and he felt as if life had been pulled out of his body.

More screens followed one by another, and Rion stared at them in a daze.

[Extra measures are required for the assimilation!]

[You are already bound to Immortal Body!]

[You have already awakened the Enhanced Aura!]

[Forcing harmony between the adversarial natures!]

[Error! Error! Error!]

[Immortal Body and Enhanced Aura cannot be harmonised with the Demonic Heart!]

[You have the Singularity of Absolute Seal!]

[Using the Singularity to force the adversarial natures into a pseudo-harmony!]

Suddenly, an electric jolt or something similar to it coursed through Rion's body, and the upper end of the chain mark on his left arm slithered towards his heart.

Just as the chain's end reached the heart, a red glow emitted out of it — the chain entered his heart and continued to sink deeper, reaching the very core of his existence.

Once it reached there, it shot towards the tiny golden flame and the enormous green flame, it wrapped around both of them and yanked them out.

Purple veins bulged across his heart as the Demonic Heart took the place of his previous heart, and the chain placed the tiny golden flame and the enormous green flame within it.

It rattled, and the Corrupted Abysmal Flame that was sealed on the other end shifted towards the heart.

The chain wrapped around the three flames and settled them in such a way that the ruling nature of the aura flame, the restoring nature of the life flame and the chaotic nature of the Corrupted Abysmal Flame were forced into harmony.

However, such a harmony was impossible on its own, so the singularity of the Absolute Seal became the barrier that kept them from affecting each other, but because of it, Rion could no longer make use of the singularity.

Just as the three flames settled in the pseudo-harmony, life essence flooded out of the life flame, and the Demonic Heart spread it throughout the body much faster than his normal heart.

His aura also began to regenerate a little faster than before, and at the same time, demonic energy was being generated at the centre of the demonic heart.

However, the Corrupted Abysmal Flame was completely sealed and couldn't generate the purple flames.

With a loud gasp, life returned to Rion's body, and he looked at the screen before him with a confused sheen in his eyes.

[You have assimilated with the Demonic Heart!]

"Where...?" He mumbled in a daze, and his gaze passed through the screen and landed on Dora writhing on the ground.

Only a couple of moments had passed since he had commanded the assimilation, and he felt the changes and the foreign energy within his body.

Gritting his teeth, he flooded demonic energy throughout his body.

Purple veins bulged all over, but unlike the sharp sting that he felt from putting his hand in the square hole, he felt a chilling sensation... a sensation that was seemingly trying to push back his emotions.

For a mere moment, a cold light flickered through his eyes, but his emotions were too heavy for the demonic energy to turn him into a cold statue.

His fatigue vanished for now. His hands sank into the withered soil as he pushed himself off the ground and began to rise.

With a grunt, he stood up, demonic energy gathered around him, and he roared at the top of his lungs, "DORAAAAAAAA!"

The warriors turned towards him, their eyes widening upon seeing the purple veins bulging across his body.

He ignored their confused expression and dashed towards Dora.
