Rion walked back to the camp, and while doing so, he picked up various herbs, flowers and roots that would be useful for what he was about to do.
Just as he reached the camp, one of Balthar's squad members looked at him and asked with a puzzled frown, "Rion? Why are you back so early?"
Normally, Rion left the camp soon after sunrise to wander the mountains and scout for spots where he could take his squad members for a break from their routine patrols.
He also wanted to join them for the rounds around the purple fog forest, but they had denied him because his presence alone would turn their patrols pointless and leave them no chance for training.
Before he understood their worries, and because all of them had awakened their aura, he had no issue with agreeing to their suggestions.
Now, however, he had different plans. If he let things go the way they were, he would have to wait decades just to leave the tribe, and the others would already be in their prime, and their duties wouldn't allow them to leave.
Dora and Yuura, who were descendants of the God of Throne and God of Speed, respectively, would also have to marry someone to sire an heir so their bloodline could continue.
He looked at the person who had just called out to him and answered, "I am thinking of changing things a little."
The other person nodded and patted his back before he said, "You can take things easy."
Rion smiled and gave him a nod. Inwardly, however, he thought, 'No... I think it's time for me to speed up instead.'
He walked inside the camp and fell into his fur bed. He thought, 'There are two ways for me to leave the tribe...'
'The easiest one would be to simply run away but I won't break my promise with mother... as for the other way, I would need to destroy or collect that corrupted abysmal flame which is the cause of all of this...'
"Hah..." A heavy sigh escaped him. He folded his hands under his head and continued with his thoughts, 'But for that I would've had to go much deeper inside the purple fog forest, and one night is not even enough to enter its inner parts.'
The purple fog forest was massive, and it covered all of the southern forest as well as some parts of the southwestern and southeastern forests.
If he tried to cross it from one end to the other, it would take him at least a week, and that was with his aura constantly enhancing his speed. Its sheer vastness was what had kept the Dhaevrak tribe chained to it… as well as the curse of Them.
The kareth he had slain over the past months weren't even a hundredth of the ones that prowled within its deep reaches.
He twisted to the side and rubbed his face as he thought, 'There is one more way, and for that I would have to defeat the sovereign...'
He instinctively shifted his head towards the Redwood Basin, more specifically the peak on which his father was and mumbled in thought, '... Let's just forget about this one.'
He closed his eyes and fell asleep.
Thk! Thk! Thk!
The sound of quick steps echoed within the camp as Dora paced around while anxiously biting her fingernails.
She glanced at Rion and mumbled, "What's wrong with him? Ruma also said that he came back early! Is he sick?!"
Suddenly, the colours vanished from her face, and she muttered with a despairing look, "Does it have anything to do with what I had done yesterday?"
They had still not talked about the things that had happened beside the river, as Rion hadn't returned to camp, so she was determined to talk with him after finishing her patrols, but to her surprise, Rion was already back at the camp and was snoring in his bed.
Which was actually a great thing, but the person doing it was Rion.
"He never sleeps during the day..." she mumbled and inched closer to take a better look.
But just as she looked at his sleeping face, something within her snapped, her heart began to pound loudly against her chest, and heat began to rise within the whole of her.
Her lips twisted into a smile that was between pleasure and joy. Hot breath escaped her as her body moved towards him by itself, and she whispered after reaching him, "You are too defenceless..."
She lifted her hand and drew soft circles on his face with her finger while whispering, "You look like a rabbit... but the way you are monkey is more suitable... hehe! My monkey."
Her smile widened into a grin as she lowered her head and hovered just an inch above his.
She stared as his nose rose and fell with his rhythmic breathing, and she mumbled while touching his nose, "How much are you going to make me wait? You dummy."
Her smile turned ecstatic before she closed the distance between their heads.
Kahrun, Tarun and Yuura, who were peeking inside the camp, watched her kiss Rion's cheek, and Yuura muttered, "See! I told you both of them like each other that way!"
Tarun looked at him and argued, "Huh? Didn't you say there's nothing between them?"
Yuura blinked a few times and muttered while blowing air from the corners of his lips, "What are you talking about?"
Kahrun shook his head and continued to watch Dora play with his face, and then it happened.
Rion, who was acting asleep till now, slightly opened his eyes and stared into Kharun's as if he was ready to spill blood.
Kahrun's body trembled violently as he jumped back.
"What are you doing? You bear!" Yuura cursed with a displeased expression.
Tarun also asked, "What's wrong?"
Kahrun lifted his finger and murmured shakily while pointing at the camp, "H-He is awake..."
They furrowed their brows and their lips parted, but before they could say anything, he added, "A-And he saw us..."
Both of them slowly turned their heads towards the camp and cursed at the same time, "Blasted hell!"
