When Addison landed, she didn't see anyone. No one was in her line of sight, there were no tracks that she spotted, and there were no weapons around the area that were fired at them.

"Odd." Holding her hand up, she created an orb of energy, then had it break into hundreds of smaller particles. These particles allowed her to sense everything in the area, and again, she couldn't find anything.

"What? Then how were we attacked?" She wondered.

"Hey, hot head. Did you find anything?" Angela asked as she slid down to the ground after creating an ice slide.

"Nothing. It's as if there was no one here in the first place." Addison kept making her orbs move around the area to make sure she didn't miss anything.

They were currently in a forest, close to a path that led to a secret storage facility that the Aegis Corps owned. But they didn't continue toward the facility because they were still worried about being attacked.

"Did you handle our attackers?" Brittany asked, floating down to the ground.

Addison shook her head. "No. Something is going on here. It's as if there was no one who attacked us."

"Hmm." Brittany activated her power kit, a gift from Jin when she entered the Aegis Corps. She scanned the area and confirmed that signs of esper activity were around this area.

"Do you know what type?" Angela asked?"

"No, the scanner isn't picking that up. But if we can—DUCK!" Brittany briefly spotted a ripple in the air appear behind Angela's head, and a gun was held out of that ripple.

Moving quickly, Angela ducked, avoiding the fatal shot to her head, and Brittany pulled the person out of the ripple with telekinesis.

A person wearing armor and a high-tech metallic mask came out, barrel rolling and firing another shot, this time at Brittany.

She stopped the laser, then turned it on the attacker, but they slipped into a ripple in space before it could hit.

"Angela!" Brittany shouted.

"On it!" Angela slammed her hands against the air, and everything around them froze. No ice was present, but everything was as if time was frozen. Because of this, the ripple in space was visible, and Brittnay rushed over to it.

When she was near, Angela made everything move again, and Brittany jumped inside the ripple, teleporting back to the area where she dropped the attacker, and Addison punched them in the stomach with all her might.

"Arghhhhh!!" The attacker screamed in pain, clutching their stomach as they rolled on the ground.

"Get frozen, bastard!" Angela froze the ground with ice, but the attacker quickly rippled away.

Brittany, using her telekinesis, dragged them out before they could fully leave, but the person activated a gas that disoriented the three of them.

"This person is good!" Brittany gathered the gas, condensed it in a telekinetic ball, then tossed it to Angela to freeze.

"Where did that person—Gaghhh!" Addison was struck in the back by a high-powered rifle, not enough to kill her, but enough to hurt.

She stumbled forward, but quickly pointed her arm in the direction where she was shot and blasted that part of the forest with a ton of power, leaving a scar in the ground.

"I didn't feel anything connect."

"We need to—" Angela, who started speaking, couldn't even finish what she said as an energy grenade bounced between the three of them.

She quickly froze it, but the explosion still went off.

Luckily, they all still jumped away, avoiding the explosion, though they were temporarily blinded as it also acted as a flashbang.

"This is a coordinated attack! We need to have each other's back!" Brittany shouted.

"But where are we even being attacked from?!" Angela shouted back.

"This forest is such a bother!" Addison charged up energy, then expelled it in a disk-shaped blast that vaporized the plant life in the area.

Now, it was an open battlefield.

"Let's see how they attack us now that the for—" Something flew into her neck, making her instantly drowsy. Her body stiffened, then she collapsed to the ground.

"Dammit! Angela, stay close to me!" Brittany put up a barrier around herself, the fallen Addison, and Angela to prevent their attacker or attackers from harming them.

"Listen closely. We only have one shot at this, so we need to do it right the first time. I'm going to create a smoke screen by using the dirt here, and I want you to create multiple ice balls. They need to be big. We'll use that as a distraction, and I'll fly all of us away, got it."

"Yes, ma'am."

Brittany was about to enact her plan when she felt her body suddenly get weak. "H-Huh? What's happening?"

"Ahh, it seems like the poison is kicking in," Angela said, stabbing Brittany from behind with the same dart that Addison was hit with.

"A-Ange-la?"

"Huh? Oh, sorry. I'm not Angela." Angela's appearance changed into that of another person, a woman that Brittany didn't recognize.

"H-How?"

"The flash bang. We knocked out Angela when she jumped back, then I replaced her. See, she's right there." Another woman shimmered into light, holding Angela over her shoulder.

"You three inhaled the poison, which fucks with your head, temporarily turning off the receiver in your brain that allows you to tap into your powers. Cool shit, huh?"

"Y-You'll pay!"

"Ha, yeah, sure."

Three more people stepped out of a ripple in space, all of them decked out in high-tech armor, and they were all women.

"Should we kill them?"

"No, you fool! The reason why I had us switch from lethal force to non-lethal force is that these three not only have strong powers, but are also very important. These two are the daughters of wealthy people, and this one, the brown haired girl, is the daughter of a Paragon. They're extremely valuable."

"I see." The other woman nodded. "That makes sense."

"Heh, besides, they're close to one of our targets, Jin Telegard. We can use them to lure him out. Now, gather that space rock and let's get out of here. The Speaker is going to love what we found today."
