It's been a week since Jin found the woman who had lost her powers roaming the street. Since that day, he had been investigating everything he could extensively. As for what he found, there were good things and bad things.
The good things, which were just less bad things, were the few women he's found randomly around the city. These women had the same breakdown as the first woman Jin had found, and they all didn't have their powers.
It was obvious that this was the work of the Sons of Adam, but Jin had no idea where they were or where they could be.
He scanned the city for days, looked in places where no one would, and even sent drones into space to see if there were in some space station or something. But he found nothing.
It was extremely frustrating, and it made Jin wish he had just absorbed mana until he was overpowered. One of his friends always liked being overpowered. But then again, he was a god, so he was born overpowered.
But that wasn't the worst of it. Jin hadn't heard from Brittany, Addison, or Angela in this time period, and he was starting to worry. It was normal for missions to take a while, but he didn't expect their mission to take this long.
"I don't even know what mission they are on, and the file I tried to access said that their mission is classified. I could hack into it, but classified files are a lot harder to break through. Besides, I don't want the Aegis Corps strike team to get on my ass."
A sigh escaped Jin's mouth as he thought about what to do next. Thanks to the device he placed in Mrs Horton's office, he was able to overhear the conversations between her and the mind reader.
Still, what he learned wasn't enough.
"They're not even in an abandoned warehouse? That's like, classic villain lairs!" He kicked a brick wall, breaking it by accident. He was on the outer edge of the city, where it wasn't as crowded, dense, and populated.
"Dude, some people are trying to sleep here." A homeless woman shouted at Jin
"My bad."
Jin walked away from the area, hopped on the hoverbike that was gifted to him by Mrs Horton, then drove into the inner city.
"Okay, so I know everything that the Sons of Adam want to do, but I just don't know where their base is. If I can find it. What would Oboro say?" Oboro was Jin's best friend in the first world he reincarnated in, the one where his actions got her killed.
'Well, Jin, have you gone over all the information presented to you?' She would ask
"Of course I did. Who do you take me for?"
'Well. What about asking around? No matter how stupid it may be, people are bound to hear something.'
"Yes, Oboro, I asked around. Next."
'Hmm. What about using your power to sense where our enemies could be?'
"Jee, why didn't I think of that?"
'Okay, bitch. Did you check your own headquarters?'
"Why would I—No fucking way! I'm an idiot!" Jin quickly turned around, doing the Akira slide, then raced off to the Aegis Corps.
"Duh, Jin! The Sons of Adam infiltrated the military, police force, other important places, and, from their own words, the fucking Aegis Corps! Why didn't I think to search there! Fuck!"
As Jin continued to speed down the road, zooming past other cars who shouted at him in anger, he came to an intersection where he saw Sandra running with a worried expression, nearly running into her.
"Woah!" He leaped off his bike, making it follow him by grabbing it with his mana, flipping over Sandra, and landing on his feet like a gymnast, his bike morphing into a backpack.
"Better watch where you're going, Sandra. I almost hit you." It was Jin who needed to watch where he was going.
"Jin! Finally! Fucking finally! I've been trying to get a hold of you!" Sandra hugged him
"You have?" He checked his phone and noticed calls from an unknown number. "Huh, I'm guessing this is you."
"Yes, but that doesn't matter anymore. I need your help! It's Roby! I think something's happened to him!"
Jin smiled. "Nah, don't worry. He just found a new job. He's working for the...uhhh...what's it called again? That Richard Dickson and Carlitus Carlnitos foundation shit. Yeah, that."
"No! I know that already! After you dropped him off at home, he and I had sex, which was fucking amazing by the way, thanks for that, and he was eager to go to work the next day. But then, he didn't come home. I didn't worry, but one day turned into two, then three, and now it's been a week!"
"And I'm assuming he didn't update you?"
"No!"
"Hmm. That is weird. Let's go!" He pulled out his bike, allowing Sandra to hop on, then drove to Carlnitus Industries.
---
"Hello, Sir, Madam, how may I help you today?" A receptionist asked Jin and Sandra when they walked in.
"I'm looking for a guy named Roby Grayson. He has blonde hair, blue eyes, you know, the typical pretty boy look." Sandra asked the receptionist.
"I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing a Roby Grayson in our database."
"He's a part of that new program with Richard Dickson." Jin pointed out.
"Ahh, that's why. All of the people who registered for the Dicknitos Foundation are registered under Dickson Intelligence, not our servers."
That immediately rang alarm bells in Jin's head. A joint foundation should have people registered under both company names because they work for both companies. While this wasn't uncommon, Jin knew that Richard Dickson was a notorious legal scammer, so he knew something was up.
"Thanks. We'll get out of your hair, now." Jin and Sandra left.
"B-But I'm bald." The receptionist sighed sadly.
Outside the Carlitus Industries, Sandra started pacing like crazy. "What if he's hurt? What if something happened to him? H-He said that he didn't want to work a dangerous job, b-but what if this new job is dangerous?"
Jin smiled at her worry. While it was brief, she was mean to him and Roby, so it was nice seeing the complete 180.
"Don't worry, I'm sure he's fine. Come on."
