"Hello? Angela?" Jin checked his phone. "This bitch hung up!"
"Something wrong?" Yuria asked
"I don't know. Does being left in the suspenseful dark count as something being wrong?" He asked
"Dunno? Something crazy happened?"
"I'm about to find out." Jin hopped on his hover bike. "See you around, Yuria."
"Take care, Jin."
He rode off into the sky.
Jin missed seeing Olympus floating in the sky. It reminded him of the first time he arrived at the rock with Brittany. It felt like a lifetime ago when he was at the Institute, only for his school to shut down...more like split in half.
When he arrived on the floating rock, everything looked just as he remembered it. Granted, he wasn't able to see all of the old Olympus, but what he did see and remember was the same now.
He made his way to the Aegis Corps, the one he was truly familiar with, and headed to Mrs Horton's office without anyone stopping him. When he opened her door, she wasn't there.
"What the fuck?!" He walked to her desk and saw a note meant for him.
"Stop entering my office without permission. I bet you're looking for me, huh? Well, I'm in the underground labs with your little girlfriends. Also, no one knows where I am, so if I see you there, then I know you entered my office without permission."
"What a bitch." Jin didn't want to go the the underground lab at this point, but he knew they called him here for a reason, so he still went anyway.
When he arrived at the bottom, he spotted Mrs Horton smirking at him because Jin being here meant that he had entered her office.
"Hello, Jin." She greeted him.
"You make me upset sometimes." He responded.
"Stay out of my office then."
"Yeah, yeah, sure, whatever."
"Jin!! You're here!" Angela wasted no time hugging Jin so hard that she tackled him onto the ground.
"Hey, Angela. You can get off me now."
"No."
Angela's body started floating, and Brittany appeared next to her.
"Stop acting up. And Jin, why do you have on sunglasses?" She asked
"Ahh, do you like them? I think they make me look cool." He cheesed, giving her a thumbs up.
"No, they make you look dumb."
Jin's sunglasses left his face as if they had a mind of their own and were tossed in the trash.
"Aw, man." Jin still had another pair on him, but he didn't take it out.
"Okay, follow me." Mrs Horton led Jin to the room she was in before, where Addison was already waiting.
"Hey, Jin." Addison greeted him.
"Sup."
Mrs Horton clicked a button, causing the room to go dark, then a holographic video screen popped up.
"Jin, what I'm about to show you cannot leave this room, do you understand?" Mrs Horton's voice was serious and lacked its playful tone.
"I understand. What happened?"
She sighed. "We sent a team to an asteroid that only frequents the planet every few thousand years. We found two important minerals on that floating piece of rock. One is a stone that is poisonous to women who have their abilities awakened, and prolonged exposure will lead to permanent power loss and eventual death."
Jin remembered that rock she was talking bout. Brittany, Angela, and Addison went missing on a mission to retrieve a rock like that.
"The second thing is a metal that is highly valuable." She explained what the metal does and why it's valuable.
"So you sent a team to study the contents." Jin assumed
"Yes. However, they died."
Jin raised an eyebrow. "In space?"
"Yes."
Jin nodded. He was hoping they weren't assassinated.
"How did they die?" He asked
"That...That's what I'm about to show you." Mrs Horton played a video.
The video was of the team that went to the asteroid to study and get samples of the asteroid for the Aegis corps, and it even showed the whole team getting killed by what looked like lube in Jin's eyes.
'What the fuck is that?!' Jin wasn't expecting a lube monster to start attacking people, but once it dissolved the man, his eyes widened.
"Impossible!" He shouted out loud on instinct.
Mrs Horton paused the video. It didn't even get to the part where the slime absorbed the women's powers, yet Jin said 'impossible'. This made him sound suspicious, as if he knew what that creature was.
"Jin, what do you mean by that?"
He didn't know if he should respond or not, but he did anyway, with a lump in his throat.
"That...That thing, that alien is bad fucking news. I mean world world-ending bad! Is any of that shit on the planet?" He asked, sounding a little scared.
"Jin, what are you not telling—"
"IS ANY OF THAT SHIT ON THE PLANET?!" He asked once more, shouting to make them understand that he wasn't fucking around.
"No. It's not. Why?"
He sighed. "Good. Good. Keep it that way. Fucking hell. Zion, you told me you killed all those bastards! Fuck! Okay, listen closely. That slime is an alien parasite that feeds on organic matter. It can absorb the knowledge and abilities of any organic matter it eats. If it evolves, then it can even mimic real people. They are an invasive species, but they're supposed to be extinct. My friend...he told me he killed them all." Jin wished that he had his previous body.
"Your friend? Jin, this is our first contact with Alien life forms. How do you know of this species? Are you...Also an Alien?" Mrs Horton wouldn't even be surprised if he were.
"Ehh, it depends on what you consider an alien. But that doesn't matter right now. Mrs Horton, send me to that asteroid right now. I need to examine the slime to make sure it doesn't evolve. Thankfully, it didn't absorb the women."
"Ohhh, about that."
Jin's face turned white. "No."
He watched the rest of the video, and he became absolutely paranoid.
"Mrs Horton. There is no time to question me. When can you have me in space?"
"I'll have you up there in twenty minutes."
