"Great. Nngh. Now we have to deal with them." Jin stood on his own, stretching his back, still feeling pain, but it was better now that he was mostly healed.
"Son, can you make a portal to get us out of here?" Jessa didn't wish to fight against these people, and if she did have to, she didn't want to fight while Jin was injured.
"I can, but that's boring. Besides, I'm super pissed off right now, and I want to blow off some steam. So, want to bash a few heads in together?"
"Ohohoo! A mother and son team up? Hell yeah!"
"Let's do it then!"
Both of them ran through the blockade of soldiers, their speed knocking people to the side from the energy they generated. Even the speedsters present had a difficult time keeping up with Jessa and Jin.
Jin struck a woman in the chest with his palm, causing her to fly backward. Jessa then grabbed that woman's arm, throwing her toward more women like a bowling ball.
When they looked around, they saw how many of their enemies were trying to use their abilities or weapons against them.
One of them was a woman who used drones to capture them. So, the mother and son duo decided to play a little game.
Jin tripped the woman, watching her fall in slow motion. Jessa then grabbed one of the drones, which was in the shape of a ball, and threw it at the woman, but it barely moved since she was moving super fast.
She then kicked the woman in the chest, watching her body bend. Jin picked her up and pushed her forward. Jessa followed up with a punch to the face, then Jin grabbed her, lifted the woman in the air, and stopped moving fast to see the ball drone slam into the woman's face, knocking her out.
"Hahaha! Score!" Jessa celebrated.
"Stand still!" One woman shouted, firing a beam of energy from her hand.
Jin stopped the energy with his hand, grabbed it while wrapping his mana around the energy, then pulled it toward him, dragging the woman with him.
"What the—Ahhhhh!"
He gave the woman a nice kick to the face, knocking her out.
There was no reason for him to kill these people, and he didn't feel like it anyway. But some broken bones wouldn't hurt.
"Shoot them!"
"Don't let them escape!"
"We have to capture them!"
As the battle raged on, it became clear that none of the people sent to stop Jin and Jessa were able to do so. Woman after woman dropped to the ground, knocked out or injured in such a way that they weren't able to help any more.
"Stop! I'll handle this!" This woman was a Sentinel from the Aegis Corps, the second-highest rank there was. Upon approaching Jin and Jessa, she cracked her knuckles and charged forward.
"Is she stupid?" Jin wondered
"I think so." Jessa nodded
Both of them were seeing the woman come at them in slow motion. Her powers were barely active, and she was left with a ton of openings. Then again, to speedsters, everyone has openings.
Jin kicked the woman in the chest, followed by Jessa punching the woman in the back. Catching her leg, Jin spun her around and tossed her into the air where Jessa jumped up and axe-kicked her back down.
With energy pulsing in his hand, he blasted her side, and finally, Jessa grabbed her head, slamming it into the ground.
Jessa smiled, dusting off her hands. "Heh, she wasn't special at all."
As Jin was about to engage in more combat, Brittany suddenly called him.
"Babe, you might want to come back home and see this."
"See what?" He asked
"Come back home."
"Or you could just tell me what it is." He dodged a crazy woman who ran at him with a knife
"Don't make me repeat myself."
"Alright, alright, fine. I'll be there soon." He hung up.
"Mom! Time to go!"
"Already? I was having fun!" She was rapidly punching a poor woman in the face who was already unconscious.
"Something came up. We'll have more fun later."
"Alright."
Jin created a portal and ran through it with Jessa not too far behind him, closing after she entered.
---
"So, what is so important that I need to come back?" Jin plopped down on the couch, sitting next to Brittany.
"Look." She turned on the TV, and it showed a news report about the current state of the country, including the threat of war as well as the manhunt that was going on to find Jin.
"Wow, I knew about the bounty, but this is just insane. Am I that handsome?"
"Jin!"
"Sorry. But this isn't that big of a deal. All I have to do is just wait out the 72 hours, and we'll be good."
"But what about the war?"
"There's no way a war will start. The United Nations won't allow that to happen. Before modern technology, the world was nearly destroyed by women using their powers, so in the current age, the destruction would be significantly worse."
"He has a point," Jerrica spoke up. "Skirmishes and small conflicts may occur, but a full-scale invasion, a world war, no, that wouldn't happen. Every economy around the world would collapse, the destruction would be catastrophic, and smaller nations would be dragged into the war. It would be hell for everyone."
"But what if they do start a war anyway?" Addison asked
"Then we're all fucked. The only way I can see a war happening is if Eve somehow infiltrated the governments of Ouranous and Tartarus to spark this war in the...fuck that's most likely the case." Jin just realized it.
"What? What's wrong?!"
"I don't know what Eve wants, but she's clearly mad at me for something I did in another life or whatever. Think about this, though. The sons of Adam were a branch of Edens Garden, and if the Sons of Adam infiltrated the police, military, and Aegis Corps, then who's to say that Edens Garden didn't infiltrate the government?"
Everyone soaked in Jin's words, understanding how dangerous the situation currently was. The war was going to happen regardless of the 72 hours or not, and everything was simply to put pressure on Jin.
The Aegis Corps being weakened was Jin's fault, the clones causing destruction was Jin's fault in the eyes of the people, and the war would also be Jin's fault if he didn't turn himself in.
She was trying to back him into a corner.
