Thrusted into a world ruled by women

Chapter 48: Back on land

The ride back to the mainland was a quiet one. No one spoke, even if they wanted to. The time simply wasn't right, and the silence allowed people to fully grasp what had happened.

Some people didn't like the silence, so they went to sleep, or at least tried to, and others cried. No one got upset by the cries of sorrow, how could they? People lived their whole lives on Olympus, and in just one day, it was destroyed.

Countless people lost their friends, family, home, jobs, and way of life. Even if someone didn't lose a person close to them, they had no idea what to do next.

Jin used this time to really think about what he wanted to do next. At first, he didn't want to join the Aegis Corps and wanted to live a nice, quiet, normal life. But now, after experiencing this event, his mind has changed.

The quiet life he wanted to live would be disrupted by the Sons of Adam, so in order to live the quiet life he wanted, he would have to exterminate all of them.

Jin thought about the things he could have done if he had his old body. The power he previously possessed was near godlike. However, the supreme beings made sure to never allow him to connect his power to his soul.

Because of this, Jin was weaker than he wanted to be. If his powers were connected to his soul, he would have been extremely powerful by now.

'I have to work extra hard now.' He clenched his fist and sighed deeply.

"You okay?" Angela was with him on the aircraft that was transporting people back to the mainland. She happened to find her brother as well, something that annoyed her, but being with Jin made her happy.

"Just thinking. Everything that happened here was...unfortunate and very sad. I don't even know how to describe it."

Angela understood what he meant. "Yeah, I get you. I would have never expected something like this to happen. So many people lost their lives, and for what? To send a message?"

"That's exactly what it was for. The Sons of Adam did this to show off their vast resources. It's not easy to get your hands on a Nova bomb, let alone make one. The same can be said for a neutron star core engine. That, plus the women they have on their side, really shows how powerful these people are."

"And Mrs Horton still isn't back." Angela hoped that she was okay. Losing someone like Mrs Horton would be a major blow to their country's defenses.

"She's fine. It was her power that prevented the Netron explosion from decimating the planet. The barrier the Sons of Adam placed wouldn't have been enough to fully contain the explosion."

This made Angela and even the other people around them who could hear their conversation sigh in relief. Still, seeing was believing, and they would wait until she revealed herself to fully feel relieved.

"Everyone, this is the captain speaking. We have made it to the mainland. Prepare for landing."

No one celebrated. It was as if a part of their soul had been stripped away from them, leaving nothing but a slightly empty shell. Sure, they would be happy to see their friends and family, but they couldn't bear to see or hear others break down when they realize their loved ones aren't coming back.

When the aircraft landed, the doors opened and everyone walked out. Waiting for them was a massive crowd of people with anxious faces, hoping to see their loved ones on board.

One by one, the rest of the aircraft landed as well until there were none left in the sky.

"Benny! Benny, are you there?!"

"Chris! Oh, thank the goddess! I'm so glad you're alright!"

"Carlson! Nooo! My Carlson!"

"Karla! My daughter! Where are you!"

"Angela! Casper! Over here!"

Angela took one look at her parents and rolled her eyes. She wasn't on the best of terms with them and didn't care to reunite with them.

"Go." Jin said.

"Alright." She patted him on the shoulder, then walked to her family.

"Daddy! I was so scared!" Casper ran into his father's arms as he cried.

"Hey, Mom, hey, Dad."

"Angela! I'm glad you're okay." Angela's mother hugged her tightly, crying on her shoulder, as she was thankful for being able to hold her child.

Jin stretched his arms and was about to leave when he heard two people call his name.

"Jin!"

"Jin! Jin! Oh my goodness, you're okay!" Anyssa and Brittany crushed Jin with their hug, not wanting to let him go.

"I'm so glad you're okay! W-When I heard what happened, I dropped everything I was doing and came here to see if you were okay!" Brittany cried.

Anyssa's heart was heavy, a mixture of gratitude and guilt. "I don't know what I would have done if I had lost you, Jin. I promised your mother that I would look out for you. I'm sorry I wasn't there to be there during this crisis. I bet you were so scared."

"I'm okay. Just tired. Who wants spicy chicken alfredo for dinner?"

"Oh no. You will be resting, young man. Leave everything to us for the time being." Anyssa kissed Jin on the forehead and helped him to their car.

Brittany sat next to him in the back. "Right! I'll be cooking for you, Jin!"

"So you want me to die?"

"What?! My cooking isn't that bad!"

"Brittany, have you tried your cooking?"

She didn't answer that question.

Anyssa tried to hold in her laugh, but a small snicker managed to escape.

"Mom!"

"I'm sorry, but that was funny. I remember when you tried to bake a cake and set the oven timer for 30 hours instead of thirty minutes."

"I was 13!"

"It's okay, Britt, I'll teach you how to cook." Jin smiled

"I know how to cook!"

"Okay, fine. But if I die after eating a meal you prepared, you owe me twenty bucks."

"Deal!"
