Thrusted into a world ruled by women

Chapter 100: A bit of spying

Jin tried his best to calm the woman down, even soothing her with mana. While she did calm down, he wasn't able to extract any more information from her because she was still a bit out of it.

He wanted to read her mind, but doing so would make her brain-dead.

'Man, I should really focus on improving that spell.' Jin wished he were in his original body. He looked the same, had the same name, yet all of his powers were gone. It was a sad time.

When he did all he could for the woman, he knocked her out and decided to take her to the Aegis Corps. He didn't want to, but it was his best shot at finding out what was going on. Besides, he wanted that bike.

When he arrived at the headquarters, he walked through the lobby with the woman on his shoulders, his phone to his ear as he had made a call to Yuria to ask who this person's friend or family member is, sending a photo as well.

"I'll get back to you when I find out," Yuria spoke on the phone.

"Cool, thanks." Jin hung up and walked over to the receptionist.

"How may I help you today, sir?"

"Is Mrs Horton in today?" Jin asked

"Yes. Would you like to schedule an appointment?" The receptionist pulled out a tablet for Jin to sign if he wanted to.

"No, just tell her that Jin Telegard is coming to see her." He started walking past the front desk.

"U-Uh, sir. I can't do that. You'll need to schedule an appointment!" The receptionist rushed over to Jin, standing in front of him, to stop him from going any further.

"Dude, this is important. This is about the Sons of Adam." Jin thought that clarifying why he was here would allow him to pass, but it didn't.

"Sir, we get calls about them every day. Our operatives come back with information about them every day. If you need to tell us something, file a claim, and if you need to speak with Lady Horton, then you need to schedule an appointment." This time, the receptionist raised his voice and got in Jin's face.

"Move, or I'll make you." Jin wasn't in the mood to deal with this guy.

"Sir, if you touch me, I'll have to call secur—"

Jin slapped the guy across the face, sending him flying into the front desk. Everyone saw what happened and was shocked that someone was brave enough to attack an Aegis Corps official.

Maybe it was the shock behind Jin's actions that nobody did anything for a bit, allowing Jin to head to the elevator and click on the floor where Mrs Horton's office was.

Once the doors closed, security acted, calling up to the floor Jin was headed to, warning the other security members of his presence.

When the doors opened, Jin stepped out and was greeted by five security guards, all of whom had their powers or weapons drawn on him.

"Freeze! Drop the woman and put your hands in the air!"

"And if I don't?" He asked, his voice low and full of power.

"Then we'll have to restrain you."

"Cool." Jin took one step, and a shockwave blew all of them to the side. It didn't knock them out, but it gave him enough time to walk over to Mrs Horton's office.

"Mrs Hor-" Jin ran into the door since it was locked.

"That's embarrassing." He knocked the door down, stepped inside the office, placed the woman on the couch, and then started talking.

"Mrs Horton, I've learned something important."

"Jin? What are you doing? I'm in an important meeting."

Jin looked down at the woman, then looked at Mrs Horton. She didn't look that important, so he continued talking.

"Send a person who can read minds here. This woman is one of the missing people from the prison break, and she lost her powers." Before coming here, Jin tested her blood, and her power gene was gone.

"What?!" Mrs Horton stood up, her chair falling backwards, and rushed over to the woman, placing her hand on her head. "What happened?"

"I found her roaming the streets. Thought she was drunk, but it turns out that she was discombobulated from some sort of traumatic experience. Listen." Thanks to the power of recording, Jin was able to play what the woman was saying for Mrs Horton to hear.

"This...is way bigger than we thought!"

'Really? A cult blows up Olympus, and you're only NOW thinking that this is bigger than you thought? Fucking corpos.'

"Jin, give me eveything you have learned about this woman. We will conduct an investigation."

"No." Jin's answer made the room go quiet.

"Excuse me?"

"I don't work for you. Though I do accept the offer you've given me. However, I won't be feeding you info like I was before. I frankly don't trust you anymore, but using the power of the Aegis Corps will make it easier to do things on my own. I'll tell you what's going on, but that's about it."

Mrs Horton sighed, rubbing her eyes. "Jin, how do you expect to get things done if we can't trust each other?"

"Tell that to my mom, who thought you would have her back at all times." In secret, Jin placed a device that would allow him to hear everything that was going on in her office, then left the building.

Those who tried to stop him were met with a fist to the face.

---

Currently, Jin was in his apartment, all alone with no one to bother him. It was surprising how much he missed the presence of his two roommates. Still, without the nagging of Angela, he was able to work more efficiently.

'Looks like it didn't take them long to get a mind reader.' Jin thought to himself as he scrubbed through the recordings.

A few minutes after he left Mrs Horton's office, a telepath was called. Jin would have just gone to Brittany, but she was on a mission as well. If he wasn't mistaken, she, along with Addison and Angela, was all on a mission together.

Brittany had sent him a photo of the three of them, with her having a pouting face, Addison had a neutral expression, and Angela was making the goofiest face ever.

"Her mind, it's as if someone prevented her from knowing what happened to her." The telepath said to Mrs Horton.

"Can you dig any deeper?" She asked

"I can." The telepath dug deeper, trying to figure out how the woman ended up in her position

She saw the woman being taken by a shadow, explaining this to Mrs Horton. She then said that all she saw for the next hour in the woman's memory was darkness. After that, she explained that she saw a brief glimpse of some device powering up, and after that, the woman was walking in the street.

It wasn't a lot to go off, and it left everyone with more and more questions.

'I'll have to keep digging.'
