Andras's Dungeon.
Lune and I entered the dungeon together. The actual location might not be in the Barony of Virgo, but we could enter the dungeon through the 'gate' opened at a cave entrance in the Barony of Virgo.
'This is the second attack.'
The first was defeating the slime dragon that had settled like an owner in Baal's abandoned old dungeon, now the old dungeon. And sure enough. The moment I set foot at the entrance of Andras's dungeon, I inwardly smiled at the window that appeared before my eyes.
[Notice: You have discovered Andras's Dungeon!]
[Dungeon Seizure Condition - Defeat or submission of Andras (★★★★)]
[Quest: Andras Subjugation (000 / ???)]
[Can acquire unhatched egg upon subjugating XX creatures]
[Upon subjugating 9: Baby Andras (★☆☆☆☆)]
[Upon subjugating 18: Adult Andras (★★☆☆☆)]
[Upon subjugating 63: ?? Andras (★★★☆☆)]
[Upon subjugating 189: ? Andras (★★★★☆)]
[Upon subjugating 666: Andras (★★★★★)]
"Oho."
A quite interesting quest appeared, but it was an annoying mission in many ways.
'When am I supposed to catch 666?'
Catching them one by one is annoying enough to die, and 666? I'd much rather run circles in the slime dungeon.
"Master, what's wrong?"
"Lune. How many do you think are inside? About 100?"
"Mm... seems about that much."
"We're screwed."
Forget 666, even 189 seemed impossible to catch. Considering the Andras caught outside were less than 10, in many ways, what I could realistically aim for was the 3-star Andras egg.
'But at least it's guaranteed hatching.'
If I occupy the dungeon and hatch that egg in my dungeon, the entire Andras species would be registered. At the same time, it was also optimized for raising experience.
"Lune."
"Yes."
"Inside here, there are only enemies. So what should we do?"
"Mm... should I just shoot everything I see?"
"Yeah. Don't aim, just shoot. If you think there's something, just shoot unconditionally. Got it?"
"Yes!"
What I definitely felt while bringing Lune around was that sniping didn't suit her. If hostages were captured, she'd probably shoot the hostages, so I finally prescribed extreme medicine.
Rapid fire.
If she couldn't hit even when aiming, it was much better to shoot one more shot in the time spent aiming.
"But Lune, when you shoot arrows, you don't lose mana or anything, right?"
"Huh? Nothing like that. Just my arm gets a bit tired from drawing the bowstring? That's about it. As long as stamina supports me, I can shoot as much as I want."
"Is that so. Got it."
I threw the Andras (corpse) who'd become our guide ahead. I worried they might play tricks from the entrance, and sure enough, the ground sank and the Andras disappeared below.
[Andras Defeated (001 / ???)]
"Ah shit, should've just let the outside ones live and caught them here."
"Master..."
Lune shook her head with a disgusted expression. But if we'd caught all those here, we'd already have drawn the adult Andras and then some. Though that was if we'd cleared the dungeon.
Flap flap flap.
Wing-flapping sounds came from the cave's opposite side. I very slowly moved my steps while stroking the back of my hand. To prepare for whatever might pop out at any moment.
Flap flap.
And the moment two round lights floated in the darkness, a whooshing sound rang beside me.
Screeech!!
"Kiek!"
The Andras fell backward with a death cry. Lune, having just shot, took short breaths while watching ahead. There were still many eyes.
"Lune."
"Yes."
"Those things are all melee."
"I'll keep them from approaching."
Screech!
Lune's second arrow flew into the darkness. After the sound of something being pierced, the sound of another Andras collapsing echoed.
Ssss!
Red eyes burst from the darkness. The bird-head monsters walking step by step were all naked, clenching their fists toward us. I glanced to check the count.
[Andras Defeated (003 / ???)]
Really fortunately, what Lune caught also counted. There was no need for Lune to disable them one by one for me to catch. This fight was from the start not individual combat, but a plundering siege between dungeon and dungeon.
Attacking side: me.
Defending side: Andras.
"Someday our dungeon will also have gates leading to other places, right?"
"I can just shoot like this then too, right?"
Thwack thwack thwack!
Lune drew her bowstring without rest. She eagerly shot arrows despite her fingers reddening, and thanks to that, the red eyes sparkling in the darkness were turning off one by one like lights.
Simultaneously the kill count rose. I grabbed bow-wielding Lune's wrist and lowered it slightly.
"Rest. Catch your breath then shoot the rest."
"Master, just a bit more..."
"Stop it."
Lune was overflowing with enthusiasm but her fingers were swollen. If I let her shoot more here, her fingers might get bruised.
"And you can't now. They're already close."
"Take the resentment of our kin-ras!"
One Andras clenched her fist and charged at me. Being a female Andras, her body shook every time she jumped, which was awkward to watch, but since she was an 'enemy', there was no reason to leave her alone.
"Lune. Give me that."
"Yes!"
Lune handed me the 'special item' I'd entrusted to her beforehand. Not as heavy as the spiked mace I used to use as my main weapon, but the moderate weight wasn't too bad.
"Lune. Would grilled Andras taste good?"
"...The bottom looks human, so wouldn't that be a bit much?"
"Right? Then should we just grill the top?"
"That seems even weirder."
Giving up on eating the Andras directly. But my grand meal plan didn't yield to that. I spun the item in my hand and firmly gripped the handle.
"Then if we crack the eggs and grill them?"
"What would that be?"
"Don't say strange things-ras!"
The Andras was suddenly right in front, raising her claws. She seemed about to scratch Lune and me any moment, and I swung the item in my arm slightly back.
"Andras fry!"
Whooom!!
I swung the cast iron frying pan. An item barely worthy of being called a frying pan—more like just a wide iron spatula. Along with the shovel found in the kitchen of the village where I made graves, it would be my favorite for the time being.
CRACK!
"Kueek!"
The Andras who took a blow to the back of the head from the side trembled her red eyes and collapsed to the ground.
Kill count increased by one. I shook off the feathers stuck on the frying pan with blood and rolled the Andras with my foot.
"Ugh, damn."
"What's wrong? Did it break already?"
"No. I tried to control my strength."
How much would level 75 rise from catching 2-stars? I tried to farm the Andras, but unfortunately, the Andras died from one full swing.
"Lune. Let me practice a bit more then I'll hand them over. Then you shoot an arrow right in front of that. Got it?"
"Yes! Ah, should I do it like with the slime dragon?! Last hit, right?"
Lune made a drawing motion pointing the bowstring toward the ground. I kicked another charging Andras's belly, then brought down the frying pan on the Andras's head while nodding.
"Yeah. Right now..."
Kill count increased again. Being strong from high level was good in many ways, but quite inconvenient in this situation.
'I need to find a way to buff Lune later.'
What's the point if a shaman only self-buffs? I spun the still-undamaged frying pan. The matte cast iron frying pan glistened with blood.
"It's hard to distinguish 1-star from 2-star..."
Thud, thud thud!
Especially since the only difference was presence of wings, it was hard to distinguish 1-star and 2-star Andras just by looking from the front. I swung the frying pan toward the crotch of an Andras jumping high toward the ceiling and slammed it to the ground.
"Master! I figured it out!"
Lune shot an arrow right beside my waist to kill an Andras. The wind hole Lune created precisely pierced through the beak.
"The ones with wings have slightly sharper beaks!"
"Are their beaks made of breast fat? Geez."
Lune distinguished them skillfully but they all looked the same to me. I wasn't avian to begin with, and there wasn't a clear difference like between harpies and harpy angels. I threatened by swinging the frying pan diagonally toward two Andras charging simultaneously.
"Kiek?!"
The Andras were startled and retreated, but in that gap, Lune shot an arrow. A wind hole appeared in the knee of the closer Andras, and the Andras immediately fell to its knees.
"Ahk!"
Clang.
I swung the frying pan to hit the Andras's beak. The Andras's beak bent sideways with its head, making a cracking sound as it collapsed at my feet.
"Y-you monsters-ras!"
The last remaining Andras trembled in fear then urgently turned around. I instinctively tried to throw the frying pan, but stuck it in the wings on the fleeing Andras's back.
"Lune!"
"Yes!"
Lune, who'd already hunted many Andras, drew her bowstring with a confident face, and
Screeeeech!!
The arrow flew straight through the straight corridor and pierced the Andras's wing.
"Ahk!"
The Andras screamed and fell. But simultaneously rolled on the ground and disappeared.
"Oh..."
Lune, about to take her second shot, opened her mouth blankly. I patted Lune's shoulder to stop her shooting.
"This is enough. But you hit it this time."
"I aimed for the middle of the back..."
"...It'll be different when you evolve. So let's hunt a bit more."
I stroked Lune's ear with my finger to check Lune's status.
Lune. Lv. 25.
Her level had risen considerably during that brief combat.
"Lune, you keep—"
"M-Master..."
Lune's face turned bright red as she grabbed my clothes.
"I-if you suddenly touch my ear... hng!"
"Ah."
I got careless for a moment while touching the fastest place to check level status. Lune's ears were the most sensitive erogenous zone on Lune's body, and Lune, in the leisure of victory after the first battle, ended up—
Squelch.
Honey started flowing from Lune's thighs. Lune covered her face with both hands.
"...Sorry. My mistake."
Who knew this would happen in the middle of enemy territory? I picked up Lune and turned around.
"Let's go to the entrance for now."
"A-already?"
"Yeah. It's not like there's an entry limit, we can go outside briefly then come back."
No point running on empty. After killing just a few, I was starting to get thirsty too.
"M-Master. Then..."
Lune tried to stop me by placing her hand on the wall.
"H-here—ouch!"
Smack!
I slapped Lune's butt. Thanks to that, honey burst out once forcefully, but I didn't regret it.
"What nonsense. What if something happens to you?"
"Hiing..."
Lune made a groaning sound but what's not allowed is not allowed. I briefly went outside the dungeon for rest to quench my thirst.
***
Andras had fire at her feet. Her offspring gathered densely in her bedroom were all staring at her like meerkats without exception.
"Ugh..."
Though they were children born from her own pain, since they weren't born from love, Andras's anger boiled at her offspring staring at her with stupid eyes. Far from quickly intercepting invaders, her frustration exploded at having to give instructions one by one.
"Go block them right now!"
"Wh-where should we go-ras..."
"Ugh, these bird-brains really!"
None of the offspring Andras birthed had human-shaped heads like herself. Though it was abuse toward her children, the baby Andras stared blankly at each other then nodded.
"She called us all bird-brains-ras."
"Since only our heads are birds, wouldn't calling us bird-heads be right-ras?"
"'Head' is an expression used for beasts-ras. Even if our appearance is human, biologically we're monsters, so linguistically bird-brain is correct-ras. Monsters are beasts and we're monsters, so we're all bird-brains-ras."
"Don't say things beyond your understanding, you idiots!"
"What does idiot mean-ras?"
"The mistress said not to say things our heads can't understand, so I won't say-ras."
"Ugh, really! So annoying! All of you shut your beaks!"
Andras fumed and pointed at her offspring.
"Kill the invaders! Never let them break through to this room! Understood?!"
Andras gave orders to her subordinates and stood up. The offspring scattered according to the fragmentarily programmed orders, each thinking differently.
"Sss..."
Andras sprawled at the dungeon's deepest part, the summoning facility. Only 3 times left now.
If she laid just 3 more times, she could be reborn as a new being. Andras hoped desperately to lay safely and picked up the 3 remaining magic stones—
Squelch.
Squelch.
...Squelch.
"Haaah..."
Andras's labor pains began.
