[The "Moon Skeleton King" has appeared.]
Usually, a player would want to at least be level 25 before even thinking about trying to fight this boss.
It wasn't a suggestion, it wasn't advice, it was more like common sense.
Anyone who had played long enough knew that fighting the boss of the [Moon Tower] at too low of a level was basically asking to die.
Yet Karl was currently only level 21, a full four levels below the recommended point, which didn't just make him underleveled.
It placed him at a clear disadvantage from the moment the fight started.
But as said before, once someone completed their second [Advancement Task] and advanced to level 26, they wouldn't be able to enter the [Moon Tower] ever again.
That was how the system was built.
That was the rule, and nobody could bypass it.
If you missed your chance, it was over.
You could never come back.
This tower, and its rewards, and whatever waited past the [Fifth Floor], would simply be gone forever.
That was why Karl needed to complete the quest now.
Right now. There was literally no other time to do it.
And if the only thing standing between him and that objective was a boss four levels higher, then so be it.
Karl spun his staff in his hands as he looked ahead.
The air around him felt heavier, colder, slowly compressing as the massive presence in front of him continued forming.
"Another one…?" an ancient voice spoke, echoing through the chamber. "Truly… useless."
After a few seconds, the mist that had risen finally thinned out and disappeared, revealing the figure behind it.
It was a big skeleton, huge, actually.
Around five meters tall, wearing a long, tattered cloak that revealed every bone inside its frame.
In its bony hands it carried a massive silver sword, as long as Karl was and far bulkier than any normal weapon.
Its two eyes glowed with a faint crimson light, and atop its head sat a cracked silver crown.
The [Moon Skeleton King] took one single step forward, and as he did, a wave of aura burst across the chamber.
Fwish!
At the same time, some of the books from the bookshelves lining the walls began to float around the boss, opening up on their own, pages flickering as if animated by some unseen force.
'That thing can attack with a sword, but also magic,' Karl noted silently, studying the pattern of movement around the king. 'But it doesn't use a staff.'

[Moon Skeleton King (Level 25)]
[Rank: Epic (Boss)]
[HP: 250,000]
[Description: The moon skeletal king guards the way to the "Fifth Floor" and is also worshipped by the sect members of the tower.]
---
Bosses usually didn't have [Descriptions] at all, except the extremely important or extremely strong ones.
And from Karl's experience in this new life, the only other boss he had seen with a description as of now was the [Abandoned Guardian of Oblivion] from the [Ruins of Oblivion].
This one being described too said enough. Karl didn't wait.
Cataclysmic Fireball!
A fireball formed at the tip of his staff, growing in size after only half a second, expanding until it was as large as Karl himself.
Fwish!
He sent it flying straight toward the skeleton moon king.
BOOM!
-49,800!
It instantly took out a fifth of the boss's health just like that.
Karl's grin widened the second he saw the damage float up.
If he could hit like that repeatedly, then it might not take much more to finish this thing.
As long as he managed things well and stayed focused, he could defeat it.
He knew it.
Karl was about to unleash another spell, but—
"Why are you even attacking?" the boss spoke, the crimson lights in its eye sockets flaring. "Are you simply hoping to gain experience out of me?"
Karl didn't reply.
"Or perhaps you wish to reach the [Fifth Floor]," the moon skeleton king continued, voice sounding almost amused. "Bad idea. You will simply perish immediately."
Karl had heard about the boss of the [Moon Tower] being impossible to defeat.
He had heard the warnings. The claims that it was unbeatable.
But now that he was this far, he needed to see it with his own eyes.
And the thing blocking his path… was the [Moon Skeleton King].
Fwish!
The skeleton king swung his silver sword at Karl, forcing him to stop casting and dodge the first strike.
Immediately after, the king swung again.
Karl activated his [Invincible Magic Barrier] right as the second slash landed.
-1,100!
A lot of damage, but compared to the barrier's durability, it was nothing.
Frost Crystals!
Karl summoned five crystals and launched them toward the skeleton king, but—
Moon Barrier!
Five books floating around the king spun into formation, forming a circular barrier that tanked all five hits.
"Moonless," the king spoke slowly. "The one at the very top… is not one you can defeat."
Karl didn't waste time.
Storm of Lightning!
Lightning erupted across the chamber, hitting the books forming the [Moon Barrier] and disintegrating them instantly.
Zap!
-39,840!
It also hit the skeleton king, dealing even more damage.
"You are strong," the skeleton king admitted. "In fact, I do not even know what you are. But nobody can defeat me. You are no exception."
"…"
"You will—"
The king didn't have time to finish.
Ding!
["Moon Skeleton King" has been stunned!]
Karl's grin spread wide.
Even a boss could be stunned, and once stunned, they were exposed.
Lunar Beam!
He charged it for a single second, then fired before the boss could recover.
BOOM!
-30,000! -30,000! -30,000!
"Argh…"
The damage was so high the skeleton king actually stumbled.
Karl didn't hesitate.
Frost Crystals!
Five more crystals.
This time, they hit directly.
-11,250! -11,250! -11,250!
"SO BE IT, THEN!" the boss roared, voice shaking the chamber. "You won't see the top!"
[Boss HP: 14,110/250,000]
Just one more real attack and it would die.
But at that moment—
Ding!
["Moon Skeleton King" has entered its second phase.]
Just like the [Undead Moon Mage], this boss had two phases.
Aura flared violently as the king lifted its arms into the air.
More books floated upward, dozens of them, pages fluttering wildly.
"Die, human."
Moon Wave! Moon Sect Summon!
Power condensed into a massive orb above the skeleton king, pulsing with silver energy.
At the same time, several books turned into light before slamming into the ground, each summoning a [Low-Level Moon Sect Member (Level 25)].
Karl was surrounded. Still, he wasn't afraid.
'Just one more hit.'
Fwish!
The [Moon Wave] fully charged and exploded outward.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Silver shockwaves erupted, hitting Karl's barrier again and again.
-1,000! -1,000!
Each wave dealt 1,000 damage, and they kept coming.
If Karl didn't finish things quickly, it would overwhelm even his barrier.
The moon sect members also raised their scepters and fired spells of their own.
The entire fight turned chaotic in seconds.
And worst of all, to cast a spell, Karl needed to focus.
With everything slamming into him nonstop, that wasn't easy.
'No,' Karl shook his head. 'I HAVE to focus.'
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and when he was ready, Karl rushed forward.
Seeing another shockwave incoming, he stepped onto one of the summoned sect members, using it like a springboard to leap over the attack entirely.
"I'll see the [Fifth Floor] on my own," Karl said with a grin.
The [Moon Skeleton King]'s eyes widened as a fireball formed at the tip of Karl's staff.
The boss didn't have time to react.
BOOM!
-49,800!
The fireball hit directly.
The king froze, body convulsing, and then the bones collapsed to the floor.
Instantly, the [Moon Wave] disappeared.
All the moon sect members reverted back into books, returning to their shelves as if nothing had happened.
Ding!

"Phew," Karl exhaled, grinning as he dropped to the ground for a moment, stretching his neck.
It had been close. Very close. But he did it.
Ding!
[You can now ascend to the top of the "Moon Tower"]
One of the bookshelves slid aside, revealing a gate behind it.
A veil of darkness waited beyond, the path deeper into the tower.
Seeing it, Karl's grin sharpened.
'Alright, time to see what's the thing nobody could defeat.'
