Aren got on his feet, coughing a little as some dust had gotten into his lungs from the attack, but he was overall fine.

He looked at the lady. Her head was still facing forward. As if sensing that Aren was up, her head snapped to the side, looking right at him, and the same force came forward, the crack travelling through the ground.

Aren decided to try something different, pulling out his ancient devourer. He stabbed it right into the ground before the crack reached.

BOOM

The collision was massive, an explosion that shook the ground like an earthquake.

Aren stood there, sword in the ground. He had been pushed back a few meters, the sword cutting through the ground, leaving a long cut in it.

But ultimately, he had managed to tank whatever that attack was.

He stood up straight and looked at the lady again. He could tell that her ability had something to do with her eyes, but knowing that did not help him in any way.

The lady, on the other hand, saw that Aren had tanked her attack, and that seemed to displease her. She turned to face him fully, her red eyes glowing even brighter as multiple cracks shot forward this time, all headed in Aren's direction.

Aren watched all of them at the same time, shadow sense and swift wind active. He could tell where each one was coming from, and when they were close, he bolted forward.

"Let's go," he said, as he leaped into the air, slashing downward into one of the cracks. The explosion that erupted was massive, but Aren had already moved, as a tendril shot out of the ground and wrapped around him, pulling him away as fast as possible.

The tendril spun Aren in the air, and mid-spin, he locked onto two more cracks headed for him. He thrust down, creating another explosion that threw him high into the air.

'Her attacks are not cracks, but she is simply attacking everything in her line of sight until it hits her target. That's the only way her attacks make sense,' Aren thought mid-air.

As if to confirm his theory, she suddenly looked up, right at him, and the force came blasting forward while he was in the air, and using swift wind, he could tell.

There was no other way to avoid it. He slashed down, his sword slamming into something invisible, and an explosion rocked the air.

BOOM

Aren was thrown further back through the air, but there was a smile on his face, and that was because he was getting an idea of what her ability might actually be.

He landed on the ground closer to his team.

"Aren, are you alright?" Kira asked.

"I'm fine," he replied.

"You have figured it out, right?" Zero asked.

"Her ability? Not fully sure, but it's like some sort of inevitable destruction force," Aren said.

"Right on the money," Zero replied. "She is harnessing chaos, the power of destruction. It seems whatever her eyes look at will be subject to chaos," Zero explained.

"Chaos, huh? Do you have a solution for that?" Aren asked.

"Nope, so you'll have to handle her yourself," Zero stated.

"Tsk," Aren clicked his tongue and started walking forward.

'Chaos, huh? That's pretty crazy. I could handle this with my shadows and call it a day. Nah, let me see what I can do first,' Aren thought, then bolted forward, running even faster than before.

The lady reacted fast. Her eyes glowed and waves of cracks came rushing forward. Aren knew now that she did not need those cracks, and that they were just a side effect that showed when she attacked him on the ground.

He was happy about the side effect because it allowed him to make better predictions as well, on how to dodge and block.

Using the same method as before, when the cracks got close, a tendril yanked Aren back extremely fast. The cracks had already reached their goal, so massive explosions happened, but Aren was safely away from them.

Aren landed a few metres away and then looked at her again. "What method do I use to get close to her now?" he wondered. He was fast, but it seemed she had trained for fast opponents. Her eyes could snap to his location in an instant.

Aren had to admit that her ability was pretty good. She had managed to stump him and force him to think of other ways. He did have other ways, but he felt kind of bad having to use them against someone. He wanted to do it on his own.

"Arghhh, fine, I'll do something else," Aren said, then lifted his hands, and instantly shadow blades started firing out in rapid succession.

The girl saw the attacks coming and used her ability, destroying all the shadow blades with her chaos. Explosions rippled through the air like it was war.

While doing this, Aren started walking toward her, still pumping out shadow blades like it was nothing. She was forced to focus her ability on defense, incapable of attacking the slowly approaching Aren.

She gritted her teeth, making an expression for the first time since their fight started. She lifted both hands into the air, and what happened next, no one could have prepared Aren for.

On her palms were some sort of magically engraved red circles, and the moment she lifted them up, they glowed bright. In the sky above them, two spatial tears appeared, the size of a human, and from behind those tears, two glowing red, demonic-looking eyes popped out.

The tears became like their eye sockets, while the eyes twitched and turned inside. Then both eyes snapped in Aren's direction instantly, and he felt the enormous force crashing down toward him.

Reacting as fast as he could, tendrils from far behind shot out, wrapped around him, and pulled him back.

The force slammed into the ground as he was pulled away.

KA-BOOM

The entire earth shook as the explosion tore through the air. Dust rose hundreds of feet high, and debris flew in every direction.
