SSS Ranked Shadow Monarch: Summoning Infinite Shadows

Chapter 153: Assassination

"Damn, that's really cool," Flo said as she looked at the hammer in his hands.

It was a similar hammer to the one that the giant had, with similar runes as well.

Aren immediately checked the details of the hammer, eager to see what it did for him.

[Low-tier Divine Weapon: Increases Strength 100x when wielded for no definite time. Creates near-impenetrable boundaries using user's soul energy.]

[Drawback: Excessive use of the hammer could lead to mad rage, due to the hammer's divine effect when wielded by a non-divine being.]

Aren read through it quickly, and instantly, he was stunned and scared at the same time. Calling this hammer a godly weapon was an understatement. A hundred times increase in strength wasn't small at all, that was extremely massive.

Sadly, the drawbacks existed, but he couldn't win it all, especially when it came to carrying a divine weapon. Regardless, this was one of the greatest additions to his arsenal.

He placed it in his inventory and then proceeded to leave the reward page and finally do what he had been holding off on doing for a long time now. Evolution.

This would be his third evolution, the start of something new and even more powerful. He was eager to see what the evolution held for him.

"Flo, I'm about to carry out my evolution. Can you keep watch for me?" Aren asked.

"I can do that." She replied casually, still lounged in his head.

He nodded and then lay back on the bed. She flew up toward the ceiling, crossed her hands and legs, and watched him as he carried out the evolution.

Aren shut his eyes and the system screen for evolution came on. This time, it showed only one option, which was the first of its kind.

[Shadow General]

[Shadow General: This evolution enables users to gain a great increase in intelligence and planning abilities to control and lead his army of shadows into battle to secure the win. More strategic skills will be awakened after this evolution.]

He read through it, and it wasn't bad. Not like he had any other choice, so he selected it. Immediately, the evolution started, and he went blank, lying on the bed like he was sleeping.

Flo watched his body when suddenly, she heard whispers outside. As a spirit, she could hear far wider than humans. She flew toward the wall and then turned herself into a phantom, flying through it.

Outside, a small distance away, she saw two figures standing in the darkness. She could see them clearly and hear them clearly.

These two were members of the Silver Tiger. Their armor was still on.

"Hey, shouldn't we move now?" one asked.

"I don't know about this. What if we get caught?" the second asked, clearly hesitant to do whatever it was they wanted to do.

Flo got closer, turning herself invisible. She flew right above them and watched.

"Tch, don't be a freaking wuss now. Remember how much the young master is willing to pay us if we get this done, as well as soul weapons and other rewards.

Forget about the Silver Tigers. We will be set for life. All we have to do is kill the competition. The young master is simply trying to increase his chances at the WarGod Tournament," the first one said. He was eager to get the job done.

"But still, the captain is around. What if she hears us when we are trying to take down the kid? Or what if the kid turns out to be stronger than we expected?" the second voiced even more issues.

"Tsk. Come on, dude. He is a newly awakened. There is nothing to fear, and he isn't some special dude. I heard the captain talking before we left to come here. The dude was selected due to some information they got.

I'm pretty sure it's some sort of information that he paid for a spot or something. That must be how he is here," he said, trying his very best to urge his friend into accepting this.

"Do humans lose sense of reasoning when faced with profit? Why the hell would you think the information was about bribery? Wouldn't the obvious be that he is actually strong?" Flo thought as she watched.

"Arghh, fine, but the young master's family better reward us greatly, because the risk isn't worth it. If the captain finds out, we are dead, and so is everyone ever related to us, inside and outside the domain," the second said.

"Oh, come on, dude. This is high risk and extremely high reward. Just stab a dagger through the heart of the kid, and that's all."

After much back and forth, the first finally persuaded the second. They gathered their resolve and headed for the house, while Flo followed behind them.

She watched them get there and start entering. The second used metal magic to lift the first off the ground on a sheet of metal, and then lifted himself as well.

When they got to the window, the second used his palm, placing it on the glass, and it immediately became wavy like water, allowing them to pass through.

They got inside the room and saw Aren lying there, fast asleep.

"Haha, the kid has no sense for danger. Useless," the first commented, before forming a dagger right in his hand. He stepped forward, looking down at Aren. "Tsk, I wish we could get whatever is inside his inventory. I bet he has some cool shit.

Either way, let's get this over with."

He leaned forward and immediately stabbed Aren through the heart, pulled it out, and slashed Aren's throat, all in a quick and efficient move.

They watched as the blood left his body. He died in his sleep.

"Let's go," the first said and rushed to the window, while the second stared for a second longer, as if regretting his actions.

"Let's move, dude. Come on," the first urged. The second finally snapped out of it and rushed to the window. They left the same way they came.

Flo watched them leave.
