SSS Ranked Shadow Monarch: Summoning Infinite Shadows

Chapter 166: Cloaked figure

Roaaaaaaaaaar!!!!!

The arena roared in excitement, the ground trembled beneath the feet of the people. Every eye locked on the arena, a large octagon surrounded by a high and very strong wire fence that was heavily reinforced with soul energy.

Inside the arena, two figures had just wrapped up a grueling battle, with the win finally being decided by one of the men not being able to get up anymore.

The winner wasn't better off. Even after the referee lifted his hand for the win, he looked like he would faint the next moment.

He was helped out of the ring, and the unconscious man was carried out on a stretcher.

After that, the announcer took the stage, standing at the center of the arena.

"Tonight, our main event has finally come." His voice bellowed through the entire place.

"The contender, a young awakened, age twenty five, a fierce warrior known for his speed. He goes by Bolt!" The announcer's voice thundered as the man walked onto the stage.

He was an average dude in light armor, his hair was blown and slicked back. He carried a confident smile on his face. Some people cheered when he walked on. They had watched him fight before, and he was pretty good, in fact very good.

"As for his opponent," she is the harbinger of chaos, the destroyer of her enemies, fierce without even moving. She is destruction in human form, going for her twentieth win in the last two weeks with no defeat."

"Aaaathenaaaaa!" As he yelled her name, the entire place erupted into cheers, their voices shaking the entire Pig's Pot.

Athena walked out dressed casually in a hoodie and trousers. She came into the ring and immediately the announcer left, and the referee walked in.

Bolt looked at Athena with a smile on his face. "It's nice meeting the fabled Athena, it really is an honor." He said, but then let out a wicked grin. "Sad that I'll put an end to the whole streak you have going on." He said, trying to trigger an expression from her.

Sadly, Athena didn't have time for him. She simply turned and looked into the crowd, searching for where the others were, and then she spotted them all together. Kira waved at her.

Seeing them there, she smiled and faced her opponent, and got ready to fight.

Bolt saw this and felt utterly disrespected. He took a few steps in anger, ready to go all out against her and make sure that he won this very fast.

"Remember, no use of soul weapons or special tools," the referee said, then took a step back. "Now fight." As those words left his mouth, Bolt lunged forward, and his speed was no joke at all.

He covered the distance in an instant. He looked like a very quick blur.

He struck a punch, his fist accelerating even more, reaching speeds faster than a high caliber bullet. There was no way a normal human could dodge that.

The fist was an inch away from her face, but then her third eye opened for a fragment of a second, and immediately chaos slammed into Bolt like a wall.

BOOM

His body was thrown back so fast and hard, he slammed into the fence with so much force that the arena shook.

He collapsed to his knees, coughing a mouthful of blood. The crowd erupted in cheers. They might have seen her fight multiple times by now, but her abilities were still fascinating.

Bolt struggled back to his feet, grabbing at the fence to keep himself from falling. He looked at her with disbelief. He knew his speed, so how was she able to react?

Honestly, he was fast, very fast, but Athena's ability had come to want to protect her, so automated defenses had been created by her ability. Unless you had overwhelming power, you couldn't harm her.

He gritted his teeth, pushed himself off the fence, wanting to end this fight now.

Meanwhile, at the same time, Aren noticed a cloaked figure in the crowd watching Athena. He wasn't looking at her in the same way everyone else did. He was watching as if trying to understand something.

He gave off an aura that made him stand out to Aren, and Aren didn't like it, so he kept watching the man. But the next second, the entire place erupted in a roar, and a loud explosion shook the entire place.

Aren looked over to the ring for only a moment. He saw that Athena had blasted Bolt against the fence again, before following with a flurry of attacks that caused him to cough even more blood.

Aren looked away from the ring back to the figure, but the figure had vanished. He immediately used shadow sense to scan the area, but the figure was nowhere to be seen.

Aren didn't know why, but this made him feel worried. He forced himself to watch the fight, but now he stared at Athena, worried that something was going to happen.

Luckily, nothing happened there, and Athena won her battle as expected.

[...]

"Damn Athena, you could have gone a little bit easy on him." Aiden said as the group walked under the night sky through an alleyway, heading back to the inn where they stayed.

Aren had been silent since the fight ended. He kept his shadow sense activated all the time, worried that something would happen.

"Hey Aren, you've been oddly quiet, what's wrong?" Kira asked.

"Oh nothing really, just a bit tired." Aren replied, but she found that hard to believe. Aren had the energy to go weeks without feeling tired, and he had not been in any serious activity of recent, so how would he be tired?

Before she could press more, Aren sensed a figure enter his shadow sense. The issue was that this figure wasn't sensed until he was extremely close, like he had appeared inside the shadow sense.

Aren turned around and looked at the darkness. The figure walked out, the same cloaked figure from before.
