Becoming the Wasteland Overlord With My Harem System!

Chapter 86: One Step Ahead

The Villa was built completely, including furniture and other decorations.

In fact, even electrical lighting and air conditioning were provided. It was a functional building that could be used instantly, as long as there was electricity.

Though of course, Axel had no time to tap the electricity from the lab to here.

Thus, those were currently unusable.

"What wonderful architecture," Queen Wisteria praised as she looked around. "Just from looking at it, I can tell how advanced Sir Hexel's world is."

Axel just laughed it off, acting humble.

"Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I'm honored you think that way, Queen."

Of course, only the minimum personnel entered the Villa, while the rest remained outside.

To be specific, from Witcheria's side, there were Queen Wisteria, Princess Teruria, and three Elite Witches. On Axel's side were Axel himself, Arianne, Princess Eve, Beatrix, and Maria.

Although their numbers were equal, it was hard to tell which side had the upper hand in terms of force.

On the brown leather sofa, Axel and Queen Wisteria sat facing each other across a glass coffee table. To Axel's left sat Princess Eve, while to his right sat Princess Teruria.

It wasn't the seating arrangement he imagined, but he let it be for now.

"Let's continue the talks," Axel said as he took out a set of confectionery and tea for them to enjoy. "First, regarding me marrying two princesses. I think you have something to say about that?"

Axel could understand Wisteria's worries.

Originally, he too believed polygamy was unlawful and unfaithful. However, that changed after coming to this world.

Not only was he given a system that practically promoted getting a harem, but this current world also used a feudal system where polygamy was widely accepted. Thus, even Axel's beliefs regarding marriage were slowly changing.

"About that..."

Queen Wisteria began explaining her side.

And after listening, Axel was convinced.

In Witcheria, instead of polygamy, polyandry existed.

Having multiple husbands was accepted, as their world was matriarchal, where women held more power than men. The number of their partners is representative of their "power" in a way, too. That was the witches' reason for reacting as they did earlier.

"I understand." Axel nodded, sharpening his expression. "However, I can't abandon Eve either. I already gave an oath, promising to be her consort."

"I understand, Sir Hexel."

Thankfully, Queen Wisteria was open-minded.

"In the first place, this trouble was started by my idiot daughter. Secondly, this world isn't Witcheria. Thus, we can't force our ideals on you either," she said, sighing deeply.

"However, the Witch's Kiss is something you cannot ignore. It is an oath accepted across the entire universe, so you have no choice but to marry my daughter."

The Queen then turned to Teruria, speaking with a serious tone.

"Teruria. From today on, I'm stripping you of your rights to the throne. This is punishment for your rash actions. If you disagree, voice it now, or keep it to yourself forever."

The little princess gulped hard.

She understood that this was no simple decision. She tightened her grip around Axel's arm, pressing her chest against it as if desperately seeking support.

"I… I have no problems with such arrangements, Mother," the little witch replied. "From the moment I used the Witch's Kiss on Sir Hexel, I prepared myself for this outcome."

'If you knew this would happen, then don't use it,' Axel thought, but held back from voicing it.

It was already in the past. Far too late to complain now.

"...I see."

Queen Wisteria sighed in relief.

She leaned on the chair, releasing the tension from her body as she picked up her cup of tea and took a sip. "Then, all that's left is for me to formalize your wedding, and this matter is over."

"A wedding?" Axel asked, puzzled. "Is it what I think it is? A public celebration?"

"Hmm? No. It's more like a ritual to bind you and my daughter together. I just need to give you two my blessings, then let the pair enjoy their first night together, and it's done."

"..."

"..."

At that moment, Axel turned to Teruria, as if about to say something.

However, the little girl was averting her gaze, twiddling her fingers awkwardly.

Just now, Axel realized that the time she "invited" him, the time he took her first, was actually part of the ritual. Axel scratched his head, pondering how to bring up the topic.

"Actually, Queen..." he began, deciding to come clean.

It was something they could confirm quickly. Lying here could backfire on him instead.

"That… Ria and I had already..."

"...Huh?"

The Queen's brows rose, and her glare turned to her little daughter. "You..."

She looked frustrated and angry at the same time, but quickly took a deep breath to calm herself.

"Well, it's a matter between you two, so I don't have anything to say. My daughter's already an adult, so she should be able to take responsibility for her actions. I give you my blessings."

Then, she lightly lowered her head, shocking everyone present.

"Please, Sir Hexel. Take care of my idiot daughter."

Everyone panicked at her action, especially the three Elite Witches standing behind her. They urged her to stop bowing, saying Axel wasn't worth bowing to, and so on, but none of their voices reached her.

Axel, seeing her sincerity, returned her goodwill.

He bowed back, smiling thinly.

"Please don't worry, Queen Wisteria. I'll take good care of your daughter."

After a few seconds, the two raised their heads and laughed.

"As expected of Sir Hexel. By the way, regarding the dolls—"

"Ah, that? Do you need more? Now that we're family, I can offer up to a 90% discount just for you."

"That's great! But just receiving things wouldn't sit well with me either, how about—"

And in a flash, the two changed topics. None of the people present could follow their discussion, as it moved so quickly. Despite how "rushed" it seemed, everything was negotiated carefully.

A few minutes passed, then an hour, and it continued until they had exchanged the tea and snacks served ten times.

But of course, despite the long wait, nobody raised a complaint. They simply stood there, guarding their respective lieges, while passively listening to the two's rapid talks.

However, beyond their expectations, the two's trade discussion continued well into the day, and even into the night...
