Alaric took a deep breath and sprinted towards the boss, jumping over the boiling lava and landing on the block of ice surrounding the boss.
The boss, seeing him, reacted immediately, throwing a block of ice at him, and he dodged to the side, sliding on the ice.
He picked up the remaining piece of his whip and came to a stop. He stood up and faced the raging boss dodging ice coming towards him in rapid succession.
He glanced behind the boss estimating the distance from his ice block to the sphere.
Alaric did the most suicidal thing. He dodged the boss's oncoming attack and slid between its legs, rolling on the ice.
He swung his torn whip forward towards the sphere, hoping it was long enough to catch it, or he would be dead.
The moment the broken ends wrapped around the sphere, the caven shook and lava started to boil furiously. The boss screamed loudly in tune with the dungeon.
Alaric was thrown backwards hitting the ice hard narrowly missing the boiling lava. The whip in his hand finally broke into pieces the fragments scattering on the ice.
Despite the pain, he stood up fast and ran towards the sphere that was now at the edge of the ice block.
The boss noticed too late as it tried to throw ice at him, but Alaric dodged them his mind focused on the floating sphere.
He jumped up into the air, stepped on one of the ice balls the boss threw, and kicked his leg in the air, catching the sphere.
He rolled on the ground as he landed and came to a perfect stop. He looked at the sphere, and it wasn't as perfect as he had seen it from a distance.
It was rough to the touch and had small cracks running around the sphere.
Then the system interface appeared in front of him.
(Hidden Condition Met)
(Weapon Resonance Detected)
(Evolving: Whip - Incompatible Elements Forced Into Unity)
Alaric was stunned. The sphere in his hands started to shine as the cracks became brighter. The surviving whip fragments started towards the sphere as it floated from his hands.
He watched in fascination as the fragments merged into the whip before a white light filled the room blinding him for a second.
The moment it disappeared only the whip remained suspended midair the broken fragments twisting in the air as it multiplied itself in front of him. The whip was reforging itself and Alaric couldn't help the excitement building in his chest.
Its length reformed first as the fragments combined together. It didn't look like his normal whip made of croczilla leather but it had changed into a segmented spine made of dark materials he couldn't recognize.
There were alternating threads of blue and red threaded into the body of the whip. Small barbs filled the whip more refined than the one he had gotten commissioned by the blacksmith.
It was a more upgraded version of his former whip and colourful. After the process it fell onto Alaric's hand. The whip was hot then it turned cold right after before the heat distributed itself on the whip and became half cold, half hot. The temperature difference didn't affect Alaric at all.
At the same time, the system interface appeared.
[Weapon Evolution Complete]
Frostbound Crimson whip - Grade: B.
Effect: Elemental Override (Ice/Fire)
Description: A weapon that ignores environmental supremacy.
The moment the transformation finished as though a switch had been turned off the boss roared and rushed towards him. Alaric could clearly feel its anger despite it looking expressionless.
Alaric swung the whip towards it, wrapping the whip around the advancing boss's leg. The boss tried to freeze the whip, but the red threads started to glow, instantly melting the ice. Lava followed, but still couldn't burn the whip.
Alaric yanked the whip. This time the boss stumbled its frozen fit sliding across the ice it had built. It swung its fist towards Alaric, who had already stepped back, and swung the whip towards the boss, hitting its body everywhere, chipping its ice little by little.
He noticed the more he hit a single place the harder it became for the boss to regenerate.
He aimed for the chest trying to go for the core directly, it was the only way to kill the boss and get out of the dungeon.
After a few direct hits on the bosses chest red cracks started to appear spreading with every hit.
The boss threw ice at hit and slammed it's fist on the ice as Alaric narrowly managed to escape it's attacks everytime while countering it.
Alaric swang his whip hard towards the very center of the cracks on it's chest breaking through the ice like glass. The whip wrapped around the glowing core and pulled.
The boss gripped the whip in a last attempt to save itself but the barbs tore through it's hands pulling the core right out of it's chest.
He pulled it out of the chest and slammed it down breaking the core into four pieces. He didn't want to destroy it. He put the core in his storage space .
The bosses body collapsed inward as it started to melt before ice and lava bursted out of it's body. Alaric watched patiently as it died before the dungeon core bigger than the others floated out of the boss. He picked it from the air.
He bent down and picked the awakener stone and card on the wet ground. This time the boss had given him three awakened stones. He really believed it when people say the higher the dungeon the bigger the rewards.
Alaric breathed heavily, the injuries on his body had begun to ache. Then the system interface appeared Infront of him.
( Hidden boss cleared.)
(Boss defeated: sealed warden of ice and fire.)
(Dungeon laws partially broken)
(Reward:300 Eros points)
Alaric looked at the interface surprised. This was the first time the system had paid closer attention to the dungeon. He looked at the broken law notification and sighed.
"Yeah," he muttered to himself broke the dungeon core,"definitely wasn't supposed to be here."
Alaric rolled his shoulders and walked towards the opening portal.
At least I didn't die, Alaric thought as he disappeared into the portal. He had cleared a B class dungeon solo. This had been a small boost to his confidence.
He just hoped there hadn't been any trouble during his absence. He didn't know how much time had passed outside while he was in the dungeon.
The moment he stepped out of the dungeon he was met with a crowd of people moving around. They all stopped what they were doing and turned to look at them.
They both looked at each other in shock as the portal behind him closed with a small whoosh and disappeared.
" Hi?" Alaric said awkwardly running his hand through his hair.
" Where are your teammates?" A burly bald man came towards him and asked.
" Umm....I don't have a team," Alaric said with a small laugh.
The man's eyes widened.
" You are a C class, how can you clear a B class dungeon?"
" Accidents happened," he said vaguely, he didn't want drama.
He walked around the shocked man and took out his phone calling for an Uber. He really needed a hot bath at the moment.
He now had enough awakeners' stones to get him to the peak of C class or B class at the start.
People around him gave way as he walked straight forward not responding to any questions that was being thrown at him. He had basically tuned out the whole world.
He was just thankful he didn't have to spend the night in the dungeon. He walked to the familiar car and entered. He closed his eyes tired as the car pulled away.
He would deal with the subsequent politics later he was too tired for anything.
Close to three hours later the car pulled up in the mansions parking lot.
" Sir, we are here," the drivers voice came. Alaric opened his eyes and paid the driver before stepping out of the car and stretched.
He walked towards the back door and opened it, but was greeted by James, who seemed to be waiting for him.
" How long has it been since I left?" He had been curious about how long he had spent in the dungeon.
" It's been a day, you went yesterday morning and now it's almost midday."
Alaric sighed in relief, it felt like a month inside the dungeon.
" Do you need anything?" He asked James who was following him.
" No, I needed to know you were safe."
Alaric smiled gently and turned to him.
" I'm okay, you can go do your work I'm going to rest a little."
James nodded before speeding and leaving Alaric behind.
Alaric arrived a few minutes later and entered closing the door behind him.
" Husband, you owe me a favor," the familiar voice came from the bed after he locked the door.
