Boom!
Bang!
The monsters tore through the barrier, their roars ripping the air apart.
"So, do you want to know what I can do?" Vaelioris asked, lips raised in a smug smile.
Whoosh!
A tentacle lashed toward Young Slime like a whip.
"Demonic Surge." Power flooded his body as he twisted aside, the tentacle missing by a breath.
Whoosh!
Young Slime surged forward, slipping between whipping tentacles. "Demonic Fist."
Bang!
His fist connected—and the creature's head snapped back as its body was hurled away.
Slash!
The spider's legs carved through the space he'd occupied a moment earlier.
"Demonic Fist." He smashed his fist into the fox's fist as it lunged at him.
Bang!
"I'm not spending my Will on something this shallow." Young Slime rejected, to hand over his Will. He knew its importance. After all, he had suffered so much to increase it—even getting burned by Elder Slime's Fireballs.
Vael didn't respond. He turned silent, watching the battle with interest. 'Just wait. You'll willingly hand over your Will,' the small humanoid creature's grin widened menacingly.
----
In the midst of ruined buildings…
Black energy rose to the sky as the three creatures activated their sealed artifacts.
"Lend me one of your abilities, Vael," Young Slime asked, desperate—the only power that could turn the situation around.
"Vael?" Vaelioris exclaimed. "You cut my name?"
"It's good, isn't it?" Young Slime exclaimed as he felt the eyes of the three creatures on him. "Just give me one of your abilities already!"
'One is enough,' Slime#47 thought. 'Just give me one.'
"How about… some of your future power?" Vael said, with a small grin.
"Future?" Young Slime muttered, doubtful.
"I'll borrow the power from your future self," Vael explained with a grin, "Shadow of Tomorrow is the ability."
Multicolored Slime felt a chill as he glanced at Vael's smile.
Vael had opened his mouth wide—his laugh showed the pitch black within, making his grin creepy.
"Shadow of Tomorrow… how much power can you pull?" Slime#47 asked, confident in his future self.
"Hmm… I can pull almost full power, and from millions of your futureselves from alternate timelines. I just need your Will," the little humanoid declared arrogantly, folding his hands.
Whoosh!
Young Slime leaped aside to dodge the fox's lunge, its fists glowing with crimson flames.
"How much? Will?" Slime#47 asked, cautious with the sealed artifact.
"Enough to hurt a bit," Vael replied, making a pinch gesture with his thumb and index finger.
"I want the exact detail!" Young Slime roared, dodging the spider's slash.
They could exchange hundreds of blows in a second, but their thoughts are even faster, with thousands in a second.
Because of this, Vaelioris and Young Slime discussed freely in the middle of battle.
"Hm…" Vael didn't respond. He just watched the fight.
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Multicolored Slime dodged the attacks, pumping all his demonic force into demonic surge and even using Haste while pushing his aura.
Slash!
Young Slime was sliced by the spider's front legs; two intersecting wounds split his body open.
Wob! He bounced back at high speed, creating distance from all three creatures.
Gzz!
Black smoke rose from his wounds. "Ouch… it hurts more than getting burned by a Fireball," he muttered with a wince. "Aura recovery," He pumped his aura to the skill to heal faster.
The three creatures flared with black energy. 'They're going all out,' Slime#47 broke into a sweat.
"Just tell me....how...much Will!" Young Slime barked furiously. He didn't expect using a sealed artifact would be this tough.
"I'm telling you—it's a little bit… only a little bit…" Vael said plainly, yawning.
"Fine," Slime#47 growled. "Do it." 'Damn it… I should have asked before all of this.'
He felt Vael was using the fight to his advantage, and he was correct.
'Even if you don't agree, many would want my power,' Vael mused with a smirk. He knew his own importance and the greed of living beings—especially humans.
"Very well…. use it, but I'll take Will as long as you keep using it," the small humanoid creature said with a small smile.
[ Ding! You have acquired sealed artifact ability#1 'Shadow of Tomorrow {Mythic}!' ]
[ —Shadow of Tomorrow {Mythic}—
—Borrow power from one of your futureself from any of many alternate timelines.
—The deeper into the future and the more the borrowed power, the more Will is required.
—Required Will: ? / ? ]
"Shadow of Tomorrow." Young Slime wasted no time and used the sealed artifact ability. 'Even if this sealed artifact steals more Will, by using eldritch ritual and leveling, I can recover my Will to current Lv.79… I just can't let it fall below G,' he thought, confident in his plan.
His vision blanked out as he found himself standing in a black space.
A transparent white staircase of shadow unfolded beneath his feet, with seemingly no end to the steps. Each step was one meter wide and long.
"So this is your future....Let's see how much stronger you are at different timepoints," Vael expressed his interest as his eyes gleamed, watching a Slime silhouette forming on each step. Each step had one Slime silhouette.
Wob!
Slime#47 bounced onto the first step. A multicolored Slime#47 became fully visible—unlike the current one, its colors were darker and brighter.
"This is?…..Shadow of Tomorrow?" the first future Slime#47 exclaimed, glancing at the surroundings.
He screamed, "No… &%%^&—" at young slime, but his voice turned to gibberish at the end.
As the current Slime stared at him, a shimmering panel popped up.
[ Ding!
—{FutureSelf #1}—
—Level: 112
—Race: Elemental Slime {Rare+}
—Class: Elemental Overlord {Rare+}
—Tier: 3 ]
"What?" Slime#47 asked his future self, as he'd felt his future self was saying something important.
"Hmm… his power is weak…" Vael manifested beside him and mocked his future self#1's power.
"Let's climb more steps, so you get more power and win easily," Vael tempted.
'I'll just climb more steps to see my futureselves' power… not to use it,' Slime#47 thought, interested, as—Wob!—he climbed to the second step.
But FutureSelf #1 roared with a dreadful expression, "&^gbnbv!"
The small humanoid creature glanced at the first future slime and muttered, "What was he saying? Even I couldn't understand it."
'This is the power of time authority, after all…' Vael clicked his tongue. "But I'm sure he was warning the current slime about something."
"If it's about me…" Vael gave an evil grin. "I'm almost close to succeeding;...it doesn't matter."
