As Amon tried to piece together what he had just witnessed, Helena's sharp eyes swiftly darted in his direction.
With an intensity that made him break out in a cold sweat, she gazed at him deeply.
However, almost like a subconscious reflex, Amon hastily activated his invisibility gift.
His heart pounded wildly, and a storm of thoughts erupted in his mind.
Did Helena just kill a student?
Why?
What exactly was going on?
Thankfully, Helena didn't seem to spot him.
After peering in his direction for a while, she glanced around, then vanished into the darkness with an elegant grace.
Amon wanted to approach the scene to confirm what he had seen, but feeling that Helena might still be watching, he briskly headed back to his house.
Thankfully, his home was located a little far from where the whole "incident" had occurred.
Amon glanced around before entering and locked the door behind him with a soft 'cling'.
Inside, he paced for a moment, uncertain what to do next.
He had never expected to encounter such a situation just a day after entering the academy.
"Should I report this to Damien? No, he might take me unseriously. Then… I'd have to go higher up in strength. And what if they do nothing because she's the princess?"
"What if I end up being framed for the death? She's the princess after all, and she would definitely have connections in the academy."
Many thoughts flashed through Amon's mind.
After hesitating for a long while, he took a deep breath, calming his nerves, and made a decision.
He would see how things played out the next day before deciding whether to report the situation.
With that, Amon closed his eyes.
Unable to sleep due to restlessness, he entered a deep state of meditation, continuing to form the thirteenth core in his right chest area.
The night passed uneventfully in this fashion.
…
The next day arrived soon enough.
As the sun's rays streamed through his window, Amon opened his eyes.
"Thankfully, my worries last night were unfounded," he sighed in relief before freshening up.
Walking outside, he noticed that Natasha's door was still locked.
He hesitated briefly before heading to her house.
Within moments, he reached her door and knocked lightly.
After a moment of silence, the door opened, and Natasha stepped out.
She glanced at Amon with a sweet smile. "Hey, Amon. Sorry I took so long." After apologizing, she stepped fully out, revealing herself dressed in golden robes with a golden blindfold wrapped around her eyes.
Amon glanced at her outfit, noting its outlines over her curves, and was impressed.
"You look beautiful," he commented.
"Uh…" Natasha was stunned, her face flushing red. "Thank you."
"Let's head to class," she quickly changed the topic and locked her door.
"Alright," Amon led the way to the classrooms.
Along the way, curiosity got the better of him.
"About the 'Genius' class… what kind of information is taught there?"
Natasha continued her even-paced walk as she responded.
"Yesterday, we had four instructors. One taught about star gates, another about demon and star beasts at the feral level. A third covered history, and the fourth taught us various ways to use divine energy."
"Oh," Amon said, bewildered.
They learned so much in one day?
Recalling how he had spent the whole day cleaning and painting, he was speechless at how 'good' a teacher Damien was.
"What's the difference between star beasts and demon beasts?" he asked curiously.
He had been wondering about this after reading, but his parents had never given a satisfactory answer.
"The instructor said star beasts exist in various races and come from outer space, so they have some peculiarities. Demon beasts, on the other hand, are animals that existed on Earth before humans were… normal humans," Natasha explained calmly, withholding nothing.
"According to our instructor, after the meteors fell to Earth, they brought not only divine energy but also demon energy. Animals subconsciously absorbed it, mutating to gain stronger bodies, longer lifespans, and, in some cases, intelligence."
She sighed, then added, "Fortunately, humanity found a way to bounce back from such an era."
Amon felt incredulous at the information; he hadn't been aware of any of this before.
He took a long moment to digest it before thanking Natasha.
"We're here."
After the minor exchange and some chatter, Amon and Natasha finally reached the classroom.
She glanced up at it in surprise, then laughed cheekily. "Nice job!"
"Thank you," Amon said, scratching the back of his head, feeling slightly awkward from the praise.
Natasha waved him off as she walked to her own classroom.
Meanwhile, Amon glanced at his classroom.
The words 'Mediocre' were boldly painted across the door.
Sighing, he knocked lightly.
There was no reply for a few seconds, so he pushed the door open like the previous day.
The door creaked slightly, and Amon was dumbfounded by the sight.
Damien sat at his desk, head down, sleeping peacefully.
"Is this going to be a normal occurrence?" Amon wondered.
He decided to ignore his sleeping teacher and make the best of his time.
Briskly, he walked toward the pile of books from yesterday.
Some were extremely complicated, but a few he could somewhat grasp.
Then, through the corner of his eye, he noticed something on the instructor's desk.
It sat there, in front of the sleeping man, as if he had been studying it before.
Amon was intrigued.
It seemed important to Instructor Damien.
Without hesitation, he tiptoed toward it and picked up the piece of paper.
Written boldly across it were the words: Legends of the Unfettered One.
"The Unfettered One?"
The name sounded grand, and Amon's interest grew.
He began reading the words on the paper.
Strangely, it was simple yet carried an unfathomable depth and mystery.
The Legends of the Unfettered One: First Scripture
In the beginning, man was not created.
The world existed with nothing inside it.
How can something form from nothing?
Why does the Creator exist?
If the Creator exists, then who created the Creator?
I have a vague feeling that humans have existed since the beginning of time.
That would explain why humans have infinite potential.
It also baffles me at times.
I've come to realize that the human body, mind, and soul are… incomplete in some way.
Perhaps all humans existed as 'perfect' lifeforms.
And the Creator was one of us.
Perhaps all humans were as strong as the Creator, but we were outsmarted by the Creator.
Who is the Creator?
The path we walk on… who truly created it?
There are no coincidences in life.
As I walk further down the divine path, I've encountered quite a few things that make me question the existence of everything.
Star beasts are from different space realms.
Celestial realms exist in different timelines.
What if all of this is connected in some way?
And what if the mastermind is…
…
Amon tried to read further, but the paper was torn from that point on.
Inwardly, however, his heart was far from calm, beating erratically as though he had glimpsed a certain mystery.
His pulse raced in his chest.
Subconsciously, he turned around and noticed Damien glancing at him with a deadpan look.
For the first time, his teacher's face was filled with a terrifying gloom…
"Err, sorry?" Amon stammered, trying to compose himself and hastily pushing all those thoughts to the back of his mind.
