Damien led Amon to a particularly unique doorway. It was located behind the treasury where he had received the single pill, which he had long since placed in his universe ring.
"Why's the place so hidden?" As they walked, Amon couldn't help asking.
Damien glanced at him and shrugged before giving a reply:
"The location was shifted when the new generation of students gradually grew scared of wasting their contribution points. They don't understand that the outside world is extremely dangerous and just want to enjoy the peace that comes with living in the academy."
Listening to the explanation, Amon thought for a moment, then nodded.
He followed Damien into the secluded doorway.
There, an old man was casually sweeping the ground.
Instinctively, upon seeing the old man, Damien's expression grew solemn, though Amon didn't notice this as his attention was attracted to the old man.
Strangely, there was no presence about him.
Normally, when one cultivates the divine path, they would have a peculiar presence about them.
It was something Amon had noticed in the students and teachers alike, including Damien and the grey haired school head.
However, the old man possessed none of that.
'A normal human?' Amon guessed in his heart and wanted to use his visualisation art to probe the man.
But he decided against it a moment later.
He could do so when he returned.
"Ramsey." Damien called out politely and greeted.
The old man, Ramsey, raised his gaze to meet Damien and Amon, pausing his sweeping.
"You unruly kid." Ramsey exclaimed, and the wrinkles at the sides of his eyes widened slightly.
"Hehe," Damien chuckled darkly before shrugging and pointing at Amon.
"I brought someone to climb the tower. He's quite strong…"
Ramsey scanned Amon and sensed the similarly weak aura about him.
His eyes shifted to Damien, having heard about the mysteriousness of his white core.
A flicker of something akin to an imperceptible expression crossed his eyes as he glanced at Amon.
It seemed Damien had found someone just like him.
Or perhaps trained him that way.
Although the old man was curious, he still nodded and gestured for Amon to enter into the darkness not too far away.
"As you head in further, you'll subconsciously cross a boundary leading to the tower. From there you can begin clearing the tower gates."
"Okay," Amon nodded in understanding, but hesitated momentarily.
'Is it safe?' Amon's eyes narrowed at the sight of the darkness not too far away.
He didn't know how the darkness formed. After all, despite the light streaming from the door, he couldn't see beyond it.
'Interesting,' Amon mused and took out his sword.
The next moment he turned and gave a brief nod towards Damien and Ramsey before walking towards the darkness with confidence.
Meanwhile, left alone, Ramsey glanced at Damien.
"It seems you didn't tell him that this is a unique star gate connected to various star gates. The academy and the others had to mechanise it slightly just to be able to send students in there using contribution points."
Damien waved his hand nonchalantly and responded.
"He doesn't need to know all that information. Just obtaining the artifact at level 10 is enough for him. Besides, upon reaching level 10 he can choose to pause his entrance. Then he would be entitled to stronger treasures when he enters the star gate in the future."
Hearing Damien's explanation, the old man fell silent and nodded.
"Hopefully, he brings a surprise like you did…" the old man echoed in a low tone…
…
Amon walked through the darkness for a few seconds before feeling his perception change drastically.
He realised he had appeared in a battle arena.
Opposite him, a rotating blue portal shimmered with the faint hue of star lights.
Meanwhile, as he stood on the stage, there was no one in the arena.
Only the biting chill of the cold wind and the sharp whooshing sound drifting about casually.
Amon glanced around and noted his surroundings, internally feeling amazed by the sight.
Just then, he heard a ripple.
His head snapped in the direction of the portal opposite him.
He realised a creature was crawling from the portal.
And at the same time, a line of runes materialised in front of him.
[Age detected to be 35. Difficulty is automatically set.]
'35 years?' Amon was astounded by the number.
However, he recalled something.
He had lived for twenty years in his past life and had lived for 15 in the new life, so it was reasonable for him to be considered a 35 year old man.
Still, it was surprising that the runes could detect that about him.
Amon frowned slightly, not liking the fact that mysteries about him could be pried upon.
However, he couldn't focus on the thought for too long as the creature that was crawling out from the portal finally materialised.
ROARRRR!
The moment the creature appeared, it let out a gruesome roar filled with malice and hunger for battle.
The creature looked like a lion with dark purple fur that dripped a purple liquid, causing sizzling sounds to hiss into the air.
The lion's ears twitched repeatedly, and its pitch black eyes stared at Amon like it was looking at prey.
The lion took a step forward and with a low growl started approaching Amon with light steps.
Still, despite its steps being light, each one caused the ground to fragment slightly due to the sharpness of its paw.
Instinctively, Amon activated the visualisation art.
The primordial energy in his head surged like a tide all the way up.
Instantly, Amon's perception changed drastically and he realised faint traces of darkness and light flickering in and out of existence in the air.
The flicker continued incessantly, causing Amon to be bewildered.
'What is that?' Amon was stunned.
His eyes drifted to the lion and he noticed an intense concentration of the darkness and light on the creature.
It wrapped around the beast tightly and drifted into its core, which was centered just beside its heart.
Amon sensed the state of the core and realised it signified the beast was only a peak white core grade.
Still, the pressure it exuded was extremely deadly.
'How terrifying!' Amon was internally amazed.
Still, a light of excitement appeared in his eyes as his primordial energy began churning loudly, surging all through his limbs.
Gripping his sword tightly, Amon waited for the lion to draw nearer.
The lion didn't delay Amon for too long.
After noticing that Amon showed no signs of attacking after a short while, the lion finally couldn't take it any longer and lunged at him.
With a loud roar, its claw swept towards Amon.
Amon calmly waved his sword horizontally.
Sunset sword art.
A pungent stench entered his nose the moment the lion came close.
However, Amon's sword descended like a godly weapon and cleaved the lion in two.
Swoosh.
A sizzling sound resounded as both parts of the lion collapsed to the ground in a melting mess.
Gradually, the lion let out a soft puff and dissolved into a liquid puddle.
Amon glanced at the wriggling mess and shook his head.
'Too easy…' He grinned and turned to the portal that had started churning once more.
This time the portal was letting out faint sounds, and from within it another creature stepped out.
It was similar to the lion, however this time it was vastly different and far stronger than the previous one. A ripple occurred and a second one stepped out.
'Two?' Amon raised a brow curiously but still felt it would be easy.
…
Meanwhile, the outside world was in an uproar the moment a bright light erupted into the sky from the underground place.
